Very well done. I had to read over the last few chapters for a little recap before trying out the newest one, but I'm glad I did. It's really nice to see everything wrapping up nicely for the epilogue.

I read the update earlier, and maybe it's because my tastes have evolved, or maybe its because of the update interval killing my interest (atm), but I really can't find it in myself to care one bit about the newest happenings.

That said, I agree with fuubar; Congrats to all of you featured in the anthology.

^^ Yeah pretty much this. It isn't as easy getting back into the story when its become more of a promotional tool than anything.

Fanfiction probably is mostly a promotional tool for him, these days. I can understand that, even if it makes me a bit sad. I'm not the biggest fan of his writing, of course, but I still do read his stuff for the amusement factor if nothing else.

Congratulations to the DLP members in the anthology, though. Nice to see you guys getting your names out there, even if it is a one-time thing.

Was there some kind of brother effect between chilotha's wand and the sword (or other wand?) Voldemort was using?

Latest update needed more proofreading. I've spotted between five and ten places that need a touch.

@IBG: I don't know what in the sword triggered it, but Chilotha's wand had something from the Daemon as a core material. The Daemon planned the Harry vs. Voldy thing from the start to make them fuel the rift.

    Good news about that anthology.

The reading I got about the sword/wand thing is that the Demon, as a creature that can perceive and influence to a degree time and events beyond normal humans, gave Voldemort hidden clues/pointers on immortality, that the Dark Lord, being a dupe, fell for and was the first part of some plan to allow the demon to gain a foothold in our reality.

Harry taking Chilotha's wand was the second part of the plan. Two highly powerful wizards would come into contact and would serve as the power source for the rift the demon would use to be released.

I really don't get all the bitching about Jim promoting his work in his author notes or profile page.
At least he brings some quality work and one hell of journey/adventure story for us to read and enjoy, while all the f***ing haters just... hate! If you don't like it - don't read it, it's really that simple.

I only hope he'll continue writing more... and one day we might even get that Harry/Narcissa story he mentioned once that he might give a try to write.

    /rant

Onto the chapter itself - great work man. You certainly didn't disappoint! Probably it helped that I read again the whole story from the beginning before reading the chapter, but I have the feeling I'd have still enjoy it even if I didn't - great imagination and epic fighting packed scenes.

One thing I wonder about was that you didn't mention how Harry looks after the ritual and whether you're about to spring a surprise and have him spotting greenish tan thanks to Hack and his "flesh willingly given" o_O

It also felt rather strange that there was no more reaction to the idea of Bill dying, but in Harry's defense he wasn't really alive at the moment and just got back from Hell.

Anyways - it's time to continue working now, so once again brilliant chapter and looking forward to how you'd end the fight with the demon.

Hmm... I might be wrong, but didn't it say that Bill might be dead? Or better, that Harry has not much hope that Bill survived the battle? So he isn't officially dead yet, no?

EDIT: Here, I got the passage. "You can only hope that Bill somehow made it out, but you know that's not likely." So we don't know whether Bill is dead yet.

On the chapter, I really liked it. However, I didn't really like the battle in itself. Don't know how I should explain it, but I think it's because Harry's battle with the Daemon in the prequel already kicked so much ass that I went into this chapter without expectations from the beginning, 'cause I didn't think it could surpass the kick-ass effect of the combined animagus/patronus thing. It sounded a bit forced to me, like when Harry was fighting the Hydra, you made Harry have another animagus fight against a monster.
Don't know if that made any sense, but basically I think you might have bitten of more than you can chew by trying to outdo the Harry/Daemon fight scene from Bungle.

Finally got the rough draft of the last chapter done. It'll go through a couple of days of editing and should be up by Sunday.

Hopefully, the final battle meets everyone's expectations.

Love you Jim. I am really looking forward to it. How goes the progress on Dead Eye 2? I even got my Grandma to read it :)

Glad you and your Grandma liked it. (Drop a review on Amazon - I'll take all the publicity I can get.) The sequel has been stuck on 1/2 way since June at about 35 thousand words. I'm going to pick it up next week and try to get some things rolling.

Cheers, will do in the morning. I mean she really likes her books: can read a Patterson or a Karen Rose or a Harlan Koban in a day, but the first thing she asked me when she finished was if there was a second book in the series.

What I like about all of your writing, personally, is that the chapters are somewhat episodic like a TV show. Most chapters have a clear start and finish point, very rarely do you leave a cliffhanger, but at the same time there is story running in the background that keeps the readers attention. I would quite happily recommend Dead Eye to be turned into a TV series with very little alteration to the story just due to the fact it would be so easy to convert into a screen play.

Anyway, rather looking forward to the conclusion of TML and Inner Eye and can not wait for you to start on TLIL2.

The finale is posted. I hope you enjoy. It's been a great run on this story.

Last chapter was awesome. Just the right balance between action and humor.

Only thing that struck me as odd was the 19-years later in the epilogue. I get why you did it, but it confused me when a 6th year Luna came into play.

Full marks for you Jbern, the serie was awesome from the start until the end!

edit: See, my mistake then. That's what I get for reading it quickly.
    Still awesome story though.

I think you'll find the Epilogue was 19 weeks later, not years.

Still an interesting end to the experiment, certainly worthy of a re-read sometime in the future. Sadly my hopes of Harry getting back with Laura or even Fleur following through on her 'lover' threat were dashed, but hey, there's hope for Harry yet.

Edited for a period of inept capability to read.

It felt a bit rushed, but nevertheless quite good. Would have liked him ending up with Laura instead of Luna (who I never really liked), but what can you do.
