I think that the movie is going to suck. They all have. Why would this one be any different?

Yet, despite that foreknowledge, many here will go see it. Myself included.

Actually, I didn't think the second and fourth ones were all that bad.

    Huh?

That was the worst one. What could possibly have made it seem to you as one of the best?

Fourth is the worst one? I don't see it and for me it's my favorite and the one that made me interested in HP books.

I liked the fifth quite a bit,as that was the first one where the new Dumbledore didn't seem retarded.

The sixth was by far the worst. Lets say the 5th got a 7.4/10 from me, the sixth got a 1.

Death Eaters turned into smoke, flew around and reappeared behind random people holding wands to their necks. If that was canon, there would be no point to Aurors or OoTP, everyone would already be dead.

I know it's probably heresy, but I prefer PoA to be honest. Then OoTP, HBP/GoF, then the first two, which I can barely watch these days.

Edit: new posters and tv spot

PoA was reviled by quite a few HP readers when it first came out. It was the first one to deviate in any major degree from the books - the first two movies were very accurate, but to a fault. They were bland, really.

I still wish they hadn't cut out the Marauders subplot, but despite that PoA is still my favorite of all the movies. If it were possible to have one director for the first half of DH and one for the second half, I'd say that Alfonso Cuaron would have been great for the first half.

Is anyone going to the midnight premier? Even if it won't be amazing, it's still fun to be a crazy HP fan :)

    Cool story, bro.
Is it just me or are the bots becoming subtler? This one posted two harmless if worthless entries along with the phone-unlocking troll post.

Anyway, I happened across these links yesterday, and had to share. The movie posters are a mixed bag, as is usually the case with movie posters, but the last link has, truly, a truckload of different trailers.

A couple of them have what seems to be some passably kick-ass magic, but I fear that as is so often the case, the trailers contain /all/ of the good parts. You be the judge:

As for my favorite of the movies so far, I really don't know. I've enjoyed them all to /some/ extent, but I'm sure how much I enjoyed each movie was affected a great deal by how I felt about that particular book, etc. So I'm sure I enjoyed PoA more than was strictly warranted, yada yada. But, despite how much I despised parts of the HBP book, that terrible trainwreck of a movie earned my hatred all on its own.

I don't think the HBP film annoyed me because I didn't really care that much about it anymore. The OOTP film was my personal HP film waterloo. I felt it was a complete disgrace to the book. GOF had some unnecessary changes/short cuts but it was quite well done where it counted, POA will always be my personal favorite because of the wonderful atmosphere/music and artwork. Too bad it was too short.

Is it just me, or is the new trailer a lot like the Eclipse trailer? Starts in a dark forest with the key characters, symphonic music starts playing, montage of clips of other characters, capital letter writing pops up in front of dark clouds, more montage-ness, the music stops with a sudden thud and a blackout, a series of other thuds occur, a very dramatic few scenes starts that reveals something important of the plotline, then finally it flicks to the title of the movie, all in front of dark clouds, again...just sayin'...

    I wouldn't know, since I don't watch Twilight trailers.

    Because, y'know, I don't have ovaries.

Woh, settle down Y chromosome, it's just a thought, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised you have no where to put it. I'm certainly no fan, but I don't have my head far enough up my ass to claim I haven't seen the trailers.

And I don't have the tunnel vision necessary to think that Twilight has cornered the market on that style of trailer.

Nor was that hyperbole about not watching the trailers: the only time I watch any sort of commercials are when watching BBC or MSNBC, or funny ones that get linked on IRC via YouTube (DVRs are a wonderful thing). I've literally never seen the Eclipse trailer.

Neither have I. I watch TV regularly, have no DVR, and don't even make an attempt at skipping the commercials. I'm pretty sure you'd have to actively look for it to see it.

Wait, was I the only one who went, "Oh, hello there, Alyx Vance" when I saw this?

Also, the Eclipse trailer is pretty cool when done by tobuscus like so, but thats just my opinion.

She would be a damn good Alyx Vance if they decided to make a Half Life movie. She has the look and attitude down (though she would have to modify her accent a little obviously).

Bwuh? Alyx is a tall Black chick who is into kicking alien ass. Emma is a petite White chick who is into fashion. Not what I'd call having the look and attitude down.
