I'm basically looking for any well written fics that aren't short one-shots (under 5k words, or so).

    http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2215614/

This is a list of my favorite work. Notable things I've read that aren't listed there are Barb's Trilogy, some of belleradh's work, and japanese jew's stuff. I've also gone through the c2 and either read most of it or decided not to read some of it (for various reasons).
Pretty much the only thing I don't want to read is Harry/(InsertGenericHufflepuff). I don't really care for slash either but the Shoebox Project was pretty good, so if it's well written I'll give it a go.

Any suggestions for things I haven't read yet?

Edit: Perhaps a condensed list of my favorites amongst the favorites would serve well...
Circular Reasoning (to date the best single story I've ever had the pleasure of reading)
Harry Potter and the Boy Who Lived (best twin-who-lived story I've read)
On the Way to Greatness (best slytherin!harry story I've read)
Wastelands/Heartlands (don't think I need to say much)
Forging the Sword (excellently written and some of the best use of canon concepts I've seen)
A Clock on the Face of Hell (well written Harry and Ally/Mentor fic)
Escape to Darkness (same as previous)
Atra Regnum (the atmosphere of classic fantasy surrounding harry potter that the writer creates is really good)
Something Grim This Way Comes (funniest fic I've ever read)
    All of Worldmaker's work
Steps Far From Paradise (and really, any other good fem!harry)

I suspect you'll get bitched at for such an open-ended request ("Library's that-a-way!"), but let me mention a few stories anyway:

Inverarity's stuff is among the best writing in the fandom and you should definitely read that series. You've listed Backward With Purpose by Ella/Deadwoodpecker, but you should check out her other stories as well, including the sequel (Book of Albus) and stories like Yellow Submarine (good writing, though angsty in places--you have stories by hgfan111 among your favorites, though, so you may enjoy it). I really enjoyed lulu42's Path of Decision; you don't need to have read Gaiman's Sandman series to follow along and it's quite good writing. Browncoat, Green Eyes by nonjon is very entertaining and will make you go out and rent Serenity (and then buy the complete Firefly collection on DVD).

Have considered reading Alexandra Quick in the past but have always put it off, but I supposed I'll have a go now.
I finished the BwaP series, as well as Yellow Submarine, but thanks for listing anyways.
Path of Decision is something I'll definitely check out, but I've seen Serenity and I'm not much for it (heresy, I know).

    Thanks for the recs!

Science Fiction wise, Windup Girl was a fantastic read. As you should know by now, many in this community also enjoy The Dresden Files, and for something a little more Harry Potteresque (but only a little - it's a whole different story beyond the superficial 'boy goes to a magical school') then I'd suggest The Magician.

Whatever you choose, DON'T read Jailbait Zombie. As lulzy as it ought to be, it's fucking terrible.

Nonfiction, How the States got their Shapes is pretty interesting, as it turns out all those straight lines out west were all done where they were for a reason, and even Hawaii's state boundaries aren't as obvious as it first appears. Decisions Points came out this week and will no doubt educate, luminate, or infuriate based on your ideological preferences.

For those wanting something a little more holiday-like but still wanting that political feel to it, both Glen Beck and Mike Huckabee have Christmas novellas in store now (though Beck's is now a year old... still, a great gift for that special someone!) In fact, Beck now has enough literature to fill a small library; Broke, dealing with the United States financial meltdown to his surely riveting mystery-thriller, The Overton Window. And for the left side of the room, you can always compliment your collection with Tears of a Clown and Wingnuts. Other celebrities with new and surefire hits include Hilary Duff's scifi novel Elixer and Beiber's autobiography!

But if what you really want is to don your cloak and wizard's hat and cast level three fanfiction, then do (as Pers alluded to) what the very site you posted on was designed to do and click the library D: D: D:

.. Or you know, that ffnet C2 community designed for the sole purpose of showcasing DLP best ofs.

@Harvest King: I have previously started reading it, was not impressed after a few chapters.

@Vlad: I was actually talking about fanfiction. Also, I have read "The Magicians" (with an 's' at the end, I think you meant) and that shit was fucking depressing.

Also to reiterate - I HAVE gone through the C2. If you feel that there are some really good 4 star fics I should read, please point them out; thanks =D

The Denarian series is really good. I'm reading that right now. I finished reading 1 out of the 3 stories so far, and it's really good. It's by Shezza88 on ff.net.

@Stalin: edit: I have in the past started to read the office, found it terribad, and stopped.

Nobody cares enough to check your favorites to avoid mentioning anything you've read.

This really doesn't merit it's own thread.

If they care enough to post a reply, a ctrl+f won't take them that much longer. Also Blaise, very constructive, yeah.

What's constructive about any of us building a personal reading list for you? I'm not going to not say anything about a bullshit thread just because everyone else is (mostly) going along with it.

I'm not gonna rail on you either, but still: it's a bullshit thread. Use the library, or boost off of the favorites lists of other authors.

If you care enough to post here, checking the library won't take that much longer.

    Failthread is getting worse.

C2 has already been mentionned, he's gone through it. Which is why this is retarded. If you've finished the C2, read the rest of the library. If you've finished that, read the Recycle Bin. If you've done that, look at the almost recced thread.

If it's not in any of those places, we're not going to rec it to you here - except, you know, if we really don't like you.
