    Didn't enjoy it.

Read through it expecting some sort of twist or moment that would make it all worth it.

    Was disappointed.

    ^pretty much what he said
The plot for the whole fic was not only predictable, but had big chunks of it explicitly laid out in the first quarter of the fic or so.
That is not a typo, but a reference to the fic noted in his notes. And if he wrote that instead of this fic, it'd probably be at least amusing enough to carry through a telegraphed plot (as long as it stays a one-shot, anyway--GL's fic gets tedious).

Ok Kenpachi as Harry's 'Death' had me tickled, until he absolutely murdered his characterization in the opening scenes.

I wish someone else had taken that premise, could have been 50% more amusing at least with better characterization.

I found the story to be amusing enough that I don't wish for a return on the time spent reading it. However, it didn't do much for me. I also have to agree with the comment that too much time was spent in Soul Society, and on the training.

If nothing else, I have to give Ruskbyte props for managing what he did, with what I think is a rather "meh" challenge. Doubly so for managing a HP/bleach crossover that didn't make me want to stick my head in a waffle-iron. Still, the cross-over didn't work for me, even when trying to take it as a parody of just how terrible most Bleach crossovers are.

Decent entertainment value. Given the idea for Kenpachi as Harry's death, I don't really see how we could have received a Harry who had a problem solving method other than the one shown....

Execution was perhaps lacking, but the chuckles it gave me made it worth it. 3/5.

It's average, partially boring though also with some good moments.

The "throwing out of the window" was a running gag that didn't hit the second time it was done, and the characterization of Kenpachi was too one-sided and weird on its own.

The whole oneshot looks like an attempt at writing like Rorschach and he failed. While Rorschach's short scenes are almost always filled with new ideas this one becomes repetitive very soon.

I have read one or two other answers to the same challenge this is based on, and the other is / are worse.

    Altogether I rate it 3/5

I especially liked "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."; it was a moment that was cooler than the conclusion of this fic had any right to be. I was underwhelmed by large swaths of the rest, but I don't really know anything about Bleach so the first half was hard to judge. 3/5

I really hope he actually writes more Culture Shock.

When I saw this on my alerts all I could think was, "Ruskbyte still exists? Sweet!"

    ...Then I read it.

Sigh. Far below his regular standards. Then again, I'm not a Bleach fan, so maybe I missed some in-joke from that show that would have made this funnier.

Weeaboo fic that does not even attempt to hide its weeaboo-ness. Not quite 1/5 but not good enough for 3/5, so two stars it is.

Theeees. I made it to the part where Asian Anime Character called Harry "Gaijin" and then my browser chose to segfault itself in protest. So very ungood.

For the most part, I didn't enjoy it. Some funny moments, and maniac!Harry is always a giggle, but I'd expect much more from such a high-quality author. The Japanese references went way over my head, too (though that might be my fault), and no doubt dragged down the rating.
