Mass Effect 3 was also confirmed for "Holiday Season 2011".

EDIT: lolfail. Mixed up obsidian and Bethesda.

I hope it's more like Morrowind than Oblivion, just like everyone else.

Anyone know of a decent script of the trailer floating around? I can never quite catch what the narrator's saying at the end.

    You should have acted.
    They're already here.
The Elder Scrolls told of their return.
    Their defeat was merely delay
Til the time after Oblivion opened.
When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood
But no one wanted to believe.
    Believe they even existed.
And when the truth finally dawns:
    It dawns in fire.
    But.
    There's one they fear.
In their tongue, he's Novak'leen Dragonborn!

I heard about this a few days ago and almost died of happiness :D I am also going to embrace the optimistic spirit of Christmas and pretend there is nothing they can do to fuck this up.

Nothing Bethesda can do to fuck shit up, you so funny!

I'm actually looking forward to this. My real hope is that they hire more than four voice actors this time.

Excellent news - now I just need to finish all the side quests/expansion packs for Oblivion...

    Minor fix.

But seriously, you know the video of the fat chick watching the twilight trailer and freaking out? The female-Oz lookalike? When I watched the Skyrim trailer my nerdgasm looked so much like that it's unnerving. I'm talking visible, audible nerdgastic bliss, and a change of underwear.

And a lot of strange looks from coworkers.

So much this. Unmodded, Oblivion was a pile of dog shit. Modded? Well, it can turn into one of the best RPGs I've ever seen.

(Don't believe me? Go get a full FCOM install working right, Better Cities, Unique Landscapes, Midas Magic, etc.)

^ Plus the quarls texture mods, the animation mods, the extra races, hairs, eyes, facegen.. I wasted probably more hours on Oblivion looking for and installing mods then I've spent playing a lot of other games.

I doubt they'll remove one of the serious draws to the game. Oblivion ended up with a huge modding community, most of whom will be looking to go to the sequel. The best mods were self-made though, as always. :awesome

I probably spent an equal amount of time in Construction Set as I did in the game... so here's hoping Skyrim's an awesome story as well.

    I think I just came a little.

    *Checks*

    Yes. Yes I did.

I'd been tracking this for a while, I'm glad to see a trailer finally. Skyrim, fuck yeah.

Skyrim is due for release on 11/11/11. XBox, PS3, and PC versions will be released simultaneously.

With all of the high quality titles being released in Q4 next year, I am worried that ES:V is going to be one of the games pushed to 2012.

If they did delay TES V merely for marketing reasons, then at least they'll be able to use that time for better QC, optimisation, mod tools, and inevitable DLC development.

What AAA multi-platform titles have we got lined up for Q4 2011? Mass Effect 3 is the only one that comes to mind. Awesome titles like Deus Ex 3, Arkham City, and Rage are all aiming for Q2 and Q3 releases.

There are some other well regarded titles coming out in Q4, but they're all "exclusive" to one platform or another, so a multi-platform release is going to be relatively insulated from them. Frankly any other AAA game release in Q4 should be worried that TES V is going to crush their game sales and not the other way around.

I just got news that I'll be able to get a new PC before this comes out, so I can finally be excited about this.

I too hope it's more along the vein of Morrowind rather than Oblivion, but truthfully I hope they take the best from both and manage a game that surpasses them. I'll never truly let go of Morrowind, it being one of my favourite games of all time, but it would be nice to have a truly superior successor to latch onto.

I really can't imagine them not having a construction set for modding. It wouldn't even really be an Elder Scrolls game if they did away with mods.
