Vash, thanks for the update. You pointing it out made me finally go take a look at the list.

Holee Fuck, the Harveste series is awesome.

Edit: Actually let me amend that. Early on, it's better because of the shock value, but it seems to bore out quite a bit with the later installments.

By the by, has anyone read Harry Potter and the Mouth of Hell? I don't know if it's been mentioned at all, but it's an interesting and relatively new HP/BtVS crossover. It's all about Harry becoming a hit-wizard and going overseas to track Death Eaters down. Not Library worthy, yet, but worth a read for anyone who likes that particular type of crossover.

Tried it. Stopped reading after the second chapter. Typos aside, it has loads of problems. My review:

I've read it was alright as far as HP/BtVS crossovers go, though considering the best HP/BtVS crossovers I've seen have barely been 3/5s that doesn't say much.

Agreed on that. There was also another one I read a while back where Buffy found adoption papers after her mother's death linking her to Harry. So instead of Harry going to Sunnydale, it was Buffy going to England. Pretty good if I remember correctly. But, once again, only 'almost recommendable' pretty good.

Don't let that 'Parody' scare you, this fic is surprisingly entertaining. The writing has some flaws and Harry gets ridiculously powerful over the summer holidays, but some of the Harry/Dumbledore interactions are quite humorous.

Despite some clichés like Legelimency-based conversations and such, several story-elements are pretty innovative. The author loosely parodies multiple canon events which made this whole story appealing in my opinion.

    Tentative 3/5

I'm pretty sure your talking about New Family by kinderdsheart though that same summary is used in about 300 fics, most of them are unreadable though.

Nope, not that one. It was from a while ago and was actually completed. And actually kinda good. But I'm starting to think it was deleted because I can't find it anywhere.

Bingo. Stars not in Heaven. It's been quite a while since I read it so I'm gonna give a quick run through to see if it lives up to my present standards.

Some points going into the story for anyone interested:

    1) No cheesy note about how 'we had to give you up' or 'you're a witch Buffy, and a thumpin good one at that.' Just adoption papers and a name. Story shoots off from there.

    2) Characterization is strong. Very solid stuff. Point in its favor.

    3) I'm not sure but I think there was some time shifting to get everything to tie in properly. Not sure. /meh

    4) This is a family bonding story. No pairings. I think. I'm only half way through my re-reading.

Give it a read. The worst that can happen is you find yet another crossover fic you don't like. Best case is you have a new story to add to your favorites list.

That is the closest i've come to giving up on it so far. I'll continue with it for a bit, see what happens. Right now 3/5 would be iffy, but i'm waiting to get to the main plot.

There's a sequel too, but unfortunately it is unfinished.

Manifesto...was it any good? I had it linked up in my browser, but I didn't get a chance to read it before it was deleted.

It was decent enough. Fits this thread decently well. More on the almost worthy of being put up for review side of things.

    by Clell65619. No real pairings.

A couple of Clell's stories are guilty pleasure fics for me, having been one of the first HP fanfic authors I discovered. In randomly checking his/her author page today, I saw this story had been posted.

It's a mildly AU post-Voldemort story just dealing with some of the emotional aftermath in the time-honoured Road Trip format. Honestly, it felt a bit like a movie you'd see at an artsy film festival.

It felt rather average for a fic (or for one of the aforementioned films, for that matter), but I enjoyed it enough I thought I'd share. I did feel that it failed to really deliver on the "emotion", and Harry is unfortunately-canon, but I enjoyed the novelty of a fic where I felt like I was at a film festival as well as a (to my knowledge) unique take on Luna. 2-3/5, for those that care.

I'm convinced that Clell is incapable of writing anything that isn't completely and utterly average. It's not that he's not a bad writer, but he consistantly hits the 3/5 range. He's the one that's Almost Recommended, not the story.

To be honest, I've found Clell's stories to be consistently worse than what gets a 2.5 on DLP.. maybe I was just put off by the terrible writing in his marriage contract fic.
