I was a bit disappointed that they made Simeon such a jerk so he'd be easy to hate, when all he really did was being loyal to his faction. It just seems cheap. (I don't know enough about Stargate to know whether the Lucian Alliance is supposed to be super-evil or just an enemy.)

Just an enemy, they're basically a Space Drug Cartel.

Yeah actually that surprised me. I watched SGU before SG1, seasons 9 & 10. Just went back to watch 9 & 10, and was wondering why did the Alliance look so weak, when on SGU they're portrayed as very powerful.

Is there some kind of list with everyone on board the destiny, where people that are killed are checked off so that every death is a real loss?
Or is there just an infinite supply of redshirts?

Exactly what I thought while watching the latest episode. It was the same thing in Atlantis, at least then they had somewhat regular contact with Earth to get their weekly order of people to throw against the evil monsters-of-the-week.

I've imagined since the beginning of the series that there were perhaps 50 people all together including the scientists that gated aboard Destiny. Can't remember for sure though. They must be running out by now, better find some primitive tribe and snatch them aboard.

Basically, because once earth knocked out the Big Bads the galaxy had a big power vacuum, and they decided to grab some of dat ass. The longer time goes on in the series the more people (and tech) they've gotten.

An interesting episode last night before the big midseason finale.

I sorta hoped that we would see more about the "Magratheans" (whoever built the 'Faith' planet) but we didn't really learn anything new about them. Shame.

A definite change of pace from the last few episodes, but a good enough episode nonetheless. I feel sorry for TJ, seeing them show up without her baby must have been hard.

And to be honest, I didn't feel overly sorry about what happened to the people on the Faith planet. They were warned, they were told that it was a stupid idea. They chose to give up on everybody else on Destiny and live on the planet.

Also, some good Greer moments. Not the usual Greer stuff, but still good.

It was a good episode, but probably not one of my favourites. The Chloe subplot was the more enjoyable one, but the main plot had a nice touch of creepy/bittersweet to it - as LF said, they were warned. But still, we got plenty of awesome Greer, some nice Chloe/Eli and Chloe/Scott stuff, and seeing everybody else get along is always a treat.

But my one complaint would be the lack of continuation from the last episode. It seemed like only the fact Greer was in a sling even referenced the Ginn/Simeon debacle - I would have at least hoped for Eli to say something in that Kino recording, something like, "I'm losing Chloe... like I lost Ginn" or something small like that. And Rush seemed too nonchalant about everything, but I might catch something in my rewatch. The debates over the pre-our current universe 'fingerprint' is interesting, though.

Am I the only one that really didn't enjoy this episode? Greer/Chloe came off as forced drama to me, and the lack of any information regarding the aliens just really annoyed me instead of being intriguing.

speaking of the Faith planet... did any one notice the nebula rush saw in the sky while stranded on the planet in the last season is pretty damn similar to the nebula that the doctor type saw when she was dreaming her baby and her were taken to that faith planet when she lost her baby.

Why would they want to kill Chloe anyway?
I don't really get this. We don't know anything about her condition yet, and couldn't they just keep her locked up and under observation like they do now?

One of the failings of this show is they make it obvious that the extreme outlook will result in some kind of reverse plot twist.

They have plans to keep chloe around so the writers hit the audience over the head with continuous talk about how they will get rid of her because shes changing and dangerous.

She'll probably be changing as a result of the ship or something like that. And not blueberry aliens. Dun Dun DUNNN!

Same thing with last season. The big thing was leaving crew behind permanently so at the end when Eli and his troupe were in the situation, the audience was to expect that they were lost and think the show was edgy and unpredictable; then, Eli conveniently figures out how to navigate through networks in a galaxy.

The writers are just lazy so they find an out and they use it for everything. They don't know how to write for a serious drama based show, only action comedy SG1 style.

Pretty epic episode, all things considered. Lots of action as well as the confluence of several arcs.

I'm going to go ahead and bet that Chloe called in Blueberry reinforcements that will arrive and save the day. Of course, that will probably come with its own price. On a related note, Chloe really was a badass at some points in this episode. I was half-expecting her to deck Eli and go feral.

Epic it may be, but why of all things did the creators keep THIS aspect about Stargate? Every single goddamn season they have to split up the climax with the conclusion, leaving me raging about this BS.

If you want to make two parter, that's great, but don't cut off immediately before the climax for ratings god damnit.

Shame they didn't say when SGU would be coming back. I hope the break isn't as horribly long as last season. That was nearly unbearable.

    And the episode was good.

I'm glad to see Telford back.

Anyone have any sort of idea when SG:U might be returning? It's finally getting good.

As far as I know somewhere in spring 2011. And you're right. After a slightly disappointing first season I believe, it's either growing on me or it has actually become better.

I'm especially fond of Chloe's development as a character. I really didn't think that they'd be able to do much with her after the whole father complex sob story we had to endure in the first season. But all's well that end's well and I can't wait for Deliverance :D.

This... Also edited a bit, because I'm :awesome
...but not this. The whole "I'm turning into an alien and now I want to push everyone away" bit is a tired old cliché (more than likely not the turning into an alien part, but pushing everyone away)...

The entire subplot bores me to tell the truth. "Oh noez, the character I never really cared about is going to become an alien!?". They never built her up as anything other than some spoiled rich girl, with really nothing to offer the crew of the Destiny.

Actually looking back, the premise of show really bugs me. It boils the characters down into one or two defining traits. Eli is the "math guy", Greer is the "soldier guy", and on and on.

Still, it's finally starting to get a little more action oriented, and the characters are getting fleshed out, so I count that as an improvement.

    Edit:

    Well that was fast.
