    This, many times over.
OO might be the most unfriendly piece of software that comes packaged with Ubuntu. Every other piece of software I've used with Ubuntu has worked fine, and been intuitive, powerful...
OpenOffice might have a ton of features, but they're buried under elaborate and confusing menus, toolbars that pop up for no apparent reason, and a Help button that confuses more than it enlightens. Microsoft Word is easier by far, especially 07, to use. /End rant.

This is an interesting piece of work, but I don't quite know if it deserves the library.

The story is not Harry-centric and it's not even about magic. It's about the problems a Muggleborn faces when he leaves one world for another. (Yes, conflict with oneself, the real-life shit, and not a fantasy/adventure material).

That Mary Sue character is a bit too bold and too powerful for my tastes, but she is the protagonist. Also, sometimes the author's views bleed through to her (her thoughts on Snape for example), which looks out of place, and makes her too smart or sarcastic at times. There was one instance when the author cheated in order to move the plot on: the summer holidays with Sue's aunt realistically should never have happened.

In fact, that's all the negative points I can think of. I detect no problems with narration/language/grammar etc. as far as I can see.

Solid 5/5, but probably not a library material here.

I remember reading that fic a few months ago. It was funny, but it wasn't great.

One thing Clell does have going for him is that the ideas he comes up with are for the most part solid. However, his writing doesn't stand out too much.

Cases in point: 'Sun Source' is a killer idea, is so far his best story, and has the potential to end up a 4-star story unless it declines. On the other hand, 'Road Trip's' idea is not one of his best.

    Title: Harry the Pervert
    Author: Cancel Subscription
    Character: Harry
    Genre: Humor
    Rating: M
Summary: Harry comes into the possession of several explicit magazines at the tender age of ten. It only grows from there. Will be Harry/Multi.

I hope that after reading the title and summary you are aware to not take the story seriously.

I will give you a sneak peak of what you are going to read:

    Chapter 2
One night, while studying a growth chart of the male genitilia, Harry realized that he still had many years before his penis was of the appropriate length to pleasure any woman. This frustrated him, and he stared down at the appendage angrily. To his immense surprise and glee, it began to grow to what would be considered average on most middle-aged men.

Well count me as a sick fuck, because I did indeed enjoy that. It was...intense to say the least, and original; I don't believe I've ever read an HP story like that before (as I don't venture into the world of HP smut very often).

My first thoughts upon the completion of this story were "wow", followed by "seriously?", and then back to "wow" again. Mind = blown

I'd give it a 4/5. Well written, original, and it definitely leaves some kind of impact on the reader - the quality, of course, depending on the individual.

Tear it all down and build it back up, better. It's a modest goal.

Apparently this is one of Jeconais' abandoned ideas, and I know he's not popular here (I personally don't care for him) this one is different. While the story thus far has contained some typical Jeconais elements (almost instant relationship with Tracey, the Davis' being incredibly trusting, everything coming easy for Harry, etc.) it also has a darker feel which is unique for a Jeconais story, Dumbledore isn't portrayed as a saint, and neither are the Weasleys or the Order.
Overall it's an okay read, I'd give it a 2.5/5

Dumbledore being portrayed as evil, or at best hopelessly senile and controlled by evil Snape is actually a fairly common Jeconais theme. His writing usually has Harry and his close group of friends who are clearly good. Then there's a clear evil, usually Dumbledore, Snape, Malfoy, the Ministry or some combination thereof. Harry then proceeds to triumph over them effortlessly while engaging in nauseating amounts of fluff. Pretty much exactly like the start of this drabble. Nor is the dark feel unique. Off the top of my head, I can think of The Abyss and Perfect Situations which share the same dark (for Jeco) feel.

In short this is absolutely typical Jeconais writing.

Jeconais only wrote 3k words of that story. That has since been adopted by Luan and rewritten. I don't particularly like either version tbh

Bleh. I was kinda looking forward to read the below, since it was from an author I remembered having a somewhat decent Harry/Tonks story, whose only problem was that it couldn't hold my interest at one point.

So now I read this and I dunno. It's Time Travel, and I was kinda interested to see how it would work, since it appeared to be planned Time Travel (with actual preparation), not accidental, but then out of nowhere Remus randomly sends Harry back in time, and it's just the same as any other story. With no explanation given (and the feeling that it was only done to keep up the tension and allow Harry the OMGWTFBBQ-moment) that knocks off at least one point, if not more.

So, barely recommended. The writing is readable.

AU past OP-After Harry is thrust back in time, he has to survive his final years in Hogwarts and live his new life around people he knows will become Death Eaters. Can he beat his prejudices and give people a chance, or will he crumble under the pressure?

Lighthearted timetravel-story with Harry and Ron undergoing mood swings. They are somehow switching from lunatic killers to hyper-emotional elderlies with trust issues within 5 minutes. It's understandable, but still over the top considering the atmosphere of the story.

The fic was overall quite entertaining, certainly not good enough for the library but a fun read.

@Trig: I'd personally rec it, because it's obviously a parody story. And yeah the second half is kinda iffy but the first half is amazing. Chapter 7 made my ribs hurt.

I liked "Gryffindors Never Die" it keeps your attention and while it is a parody, it is kind of original at points as well, I personally loved the characterization of Dumbledore.

I don't really like it when Movie!Dumbledore invades Fanfiction, it was bad enough putting up with him in the movies.

Silly, and not terribly well-written, but I found these faintly amusing. They're a wonderful anti-thesis to slash: rather than an ordinary, straight Harry spontaneously expressing desire for a man, this is a ridiculously camp and OTT spoof.

I liked his mood swings, and while he's an inconsistent character, he's also wildly unpredictable, and that fits the mood of the story IMO.
