I have found some fics where education in Hogwarts starts later (mostly at 16) but it is usually only plot device to "realistically" start relationships quickly in story so authors don´t need to flesh out their characters.

Still, it could be interesting to see how would (hopefully) more mature Harry and co. deal with events in Hogwarts.

Is there any worthy story with this change ?

 

If you want to start the story when the characters are older, just start the story when the characters are older. You don't have to start with Harry at age eleven. That said, you still have to give us some backstory. So I fail to see how a Hogwarts education starting at age sixteen would serve a useful purpose, story-wise, unless you're creating an entirely new wizarding society. That could be interesting, but you'd need a really good explanation for what they do with all those kids who've been manifesting magic throughout their adolescence without any schooling in what to do with it.

 

Blackbird Aria starts students two years later and is set in GoF, most likely for shipping purposes. It's not a terrible story but it's short and has a slow update rate.

Here is a story in which Harry went to Muggle school until age 17 because Hogwarts legally had to respect Harry's guardians' refusal to let him attend.

At age 17 he gets a visit from Remus Lupin to tell him about having reached his majority. The plot goes from there.

He doesn't go to Hogwarts, but he does get involved in the wizarding world to one extent or another.

It's not a fic where for some reason Hogwarts doesn't start until later, but it's probably as close as you're going to get.

It's abandoned, but there's a good 200k words and the author is still active, so you never know.

Ignore the warning about slash in the AN, I can tell you that there is none after 200k words.

 

I remember that one. I thought it was actually kind of interesting. That said, I found it interesting years ago and would probably dislike it these days.

Harry Potter, Magnificent Bastard

Older in the story for the relationships I suppose, but it's not a focus in the story. Mainly there just to emphasize how Harry is a bastard by capitalizing on his fame to bang chicks, but not mentioned much more than a sentence or two.

 

I tried to read it. I really did. I just can't understand wtf is happening.

 

I read the first few lines and gave up, shouting "WTF?" as I did so.

I've not seen any decent stories where Hogwarts starts late. Yet.

All at Once is interesting, though slow moving and abandoned. The Wise One trilogy is complete and fairly decent, though not amazing. Also in both stories everybody starts Hogwarts at 11, just not Harry.

 

The fuck is going on here? I haven't been so confused by a story possibly ever.

Edit: Just finished the first chapter and I think this story is brilliant. A Harry that's a total dick and in complete control.

 

That is a bit extreme, but since it only gets that little bit of screen time, then gets promptly left in the dust, I tend to pay it no mind. Hardly constitutes a shark jumping.

Most of the story is high octane Rule of Cool.

Still not regretting introducing this smiley to the site.

To be fair I stopped there. Past experience told me that once a writer starts down that path it doesn't go well. But since you say it moves on quickly, perhaps I'll give it another shot.

Also, I do believe that's my favorite smiley I've seen on a site anywhere.
