    a*a == ab --> a*a - a*b = 0
    You don't divide by zero.

    @ the first picture. I love that comic, shame almost all of it is NSFW.

    Well, it does make sense given its origins. The woman behind it has a separate- much more work safe- comic called Platinum Grit that I have heard is also good.

    If someone could tell me the name of said comic I would be very grateful.

    Deep breath...

    Tachyons travel backwards in time, the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states it's impossible to know both the speed and location of a particle, Noble gases are gases (such as Helium) that are defined as being unreactive as fuck, Neutrons are particles without electric charges, superconductors are conductors with zero resistance, entropy is always increasing (according to the laws of thermodynamics), neutrino passes through ordinary matter, Higgs bosons are the theoretical particles that give things mass (and is what the LHC is looking for), a neutral atom that loses an electron becomes positive, and the superstring theory is, basically, the theory that everything is made up of really long vibrating strings.

    Why do we need Pers? This is basic physics. Everyone should know all this already.

    electron is negative, positron is positive neutron is neutral, henceforth no charge.

    superconductor is superconductor because it conducts electricity with almost zero resistance(super cold metals)

    an atom is build up from positrons and electrons when it loses its electron the atom loses its neutrality...

    I understood these ones...:awesome

    Bits I didn't get:

    I'm aware of the Uncertainty principle relating position and momentum, but I don't know anything about Heisenberg and energy/time.

    I also didn't really get the string theory one. Is the joke that he went looking for something and found nothing, which is arguably all that will ever happen with string theory (we lack the ability to confirm it, even if it were true)?

    Wrong. While positrons are indeed positively charged, they are an antimatter particle and thus don't enter into the equation of what charge a normal atom has. Protons, neutrons and electrons make up the three main parts of an atom.

    In short; You Fail Physics Forever.

    I find it more funny that I just came back from University where we were telling these jokes to pass time waiting for our grades from exam. ;)

    I may be wrong, but isn't this joke about searching for strings and instead finding only threads?

    I remembered this from chemistry class, I study mechanics, and design engineering so I don't care... but you are right, I'm ashamed of myself so I shall go and read about it.

    My point (which I thought was clear) is that people are 1) always sucking Pers' cock and 2) calling for him in every thread in which science rears its head. Apparently, I failed in pointing to that...

    Maybe it's just me, but I thought "string theory" and "threads" was the joke.

    Here's the thing - Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle can be applied to any two observables that do not commute (which means [a,b] = ab - ba = 0). For Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle to be applied for position and momentum, the expression instead looks like [X,P] = XP - PX = ih, where h is Planck's Constant.

    However, by the Robertson-Schrodinger relation, there are a number of other expressions that follow this uncertainty principle:

    delta(X)*delta(P) >= (hbar)/2 <----standard expression for position and momentum

    delta(X)*delta(T) >= ((hbar)/2m)*<P> <----- expression for kinetic energy (T) and position, directly derived from the above expression

    delta(E)*delta(t) ~= h <---- this is the time-energy uncertainty relation, which, to put most simply, implies that a state that exists for a short time cannot have a definite energy. It effectively means that for the energy of a state to be defined, the frequency of the state (the reciprocal of the time period), must be defined as well.

    Hope that helps.
