I think they remastered the Star Ocean games for PSP, which was pretty cool. I'm hoping they'll do something similar with FF7, FF8, Legend of Dragoon, Silent Hill, Resident Evil.... I don't see why they haven't done it yet, god knows enough people would buy them.

I've heard the 3DS is a DS with a 3D display, though I'm not sure how accurate that is since Nintendo hasn't put out enough interesting games for my to stay on top of them recently.

Lol. Hack your PSP and you can play all the PS1 games you want. All the SNES, GBA games you want as well. :p

And it looks like the 3DS is a bit more advanced than it's predecessor, but I don't even think it's on the level of the NGP. I don't think they released it's internal specs yet. So if Sony prices their product at $300, while the 3DS is at $250, I believe that Sony might actually stand a chance at killing it's competition in the handheld market. Though I don't hold much hope, most probably it will be priced at $400.

The 3DS adds an analog stick and an accelerometer and gyroscope, that's at least something.

It also adds an annoying gimmick. Then again, that's what I thought of the touchscreen. Maybe my opinions regarding 3D will change after using it? :|

Yeah, I know. I was into the emulation thing on my laptop a while back and picked up emulators for everything until I had to reformat.

But those don't come with improved graphics, and I'd love to see those games with visuals on par with PS3. Plus, I already have the originals of most of the ones I said, so the graphics are the only reason I'd bother. I never played with SNES, already have all the ones I want for GBA, but NES had some nice ones I wouldn't mind playing again. Paper Boy kicked ass.

The one time I did any 3D gaming, I found it pretty disorientating. Not from any immersion, but because I found it hard to focus on very well and it gave me a headache after a couple hours. Your mileage may vary, though.

To make it on par with the PS3, they would have to put it on the PS3. And they have done the GoW series and revamped it with better graphics. But it's up to the game companies to do it, no Sony or anyone else. Capcom is doing it with Street Fighter III: Third Strike -- porting it to XBL and PSN, but I'm not sure if they're upping the graphics or not.

I know, I actually said 'on par with the PS3' because it looks better then 'approaching something like the PS3's graphics'. Apologies, I'm trying to help make a friend of mine's story look pretty and it's interfering with my ability to clearly and correctly phrase sentences. I realize that it's up to the companies, I just find it unfortunate that they haven't seen fit to do so, and I'm curious as to why.

If I were to guess, waste of resources. Any money and people and time they spend on revamping an old game could be spent making a new game and franchise.

    They're too busy producing sequels.

That was my guess at first, but revamping an old game would take far less time and resources then making a new one, and a lot of those old titles would sell much better half of the new games I've heard of.

Not sure how comparable this is, but I remember hearing about a group of five or six people revamping Elder Scrolls: Morrowind's graphics to high-def Oblivion quality in about a month.

Now if only they were good :awesome

They might cost less, but they still cost something. And that cost may not be worth it. Not only that, you have to take into account the people working on the project. Is it worth it to take them away from stuff they could be doing in order to just do a remake of an old game?

In most cases I would say yes, but that's my opinion and I'm certainly in no position to order any of the companies in question around. Nearly any Final Fantasy game would do probably well, likewise with Silent Hill, but nevertheless you make a fair point as far as considerations the company would have to make.

Ladies and gentlemen, Sony has announced a price. The Sony NGP/PSP2, now called the Playstation Vita, will be $250 for the WiFi only version, and $300 for the 3G version.

Bad(?) News: 3G will be AT&T exclusive. No idea why they would do that.

Someone will crack/break/unlock it before too long. Just hold off for awhile before you buy it.

I don't intend to use 3G, honestly. I'll probably buy the WiFi only version.

Like I said before, I'm not going to buy yet ANOTHER data package on top of my home internet + data plan on my iphone. Wifi only version for me as well. I can set my phone as a wifi hotspot... so that works as well if I REALLY need 3G on the Vita for some reason.

Though, it would be awesome if I could add the Vita to my data plan or something and not pay extra, since I already have AT&T. I would probably get the 3G version if that were the case.

There is no way in hell am I going to miss this for launch day.

Thankfully, I can use my aging iMac as a Wifi hotspot as well. It's going to be the Wifi version for me.

I'm teteering between this and the PSP-3000, simply because I'm not that interested in the new games coming out yet there are some classics I would love to play. The problem is I don't know just what sort of system they have in place. Will I have to wait months before they release some of the older games on their new format or will it be more of an instantaneous thing from launch?

You should be able to find some of the older titles on the PSN. I doubt they'll be releasing any PSP titles in the new format.
