It occurs to me, that, for all the "Dark" Harry fiction out there, I've yet to read a truly well crafted, well written and true Sociopath!Harry fic. Meaning that Harry really suffers from the subset of antisocial personality disorder, not that he does bad things for a "good" purpose.

The only one that comes close, in deliberation, is
Burn, Baby, Burn! by Dark Syaoran. Unfortunately it's complete. And too short.

Do fellow DLP users have any recommendations?

Well, you could read Darkly Dreaming Harry, by LineApe. It's not the best fic out there (I think it got a 3/5 in For Review), but I liked it. It hasn't been updated since November, but there are 17 chapters already posted, so...

This doesn't sound interesting at all, tbh. Any attempts have either been a Dexter wannabe or just plain silly. A truly well-crafted sociopathic Harry would probably result in a one-shot anyway, as it'd just get monotonous or abandoned since he isn't doing anything except not caring about anything.

Sociopathy isn't a condition in which you don't care, its when you care about yourself, and have a deep and fundamental disregard of the rights of others.
Basically, you don't care about others. But you still care about yourself.

Big D's Harry in What Would Slytherin Harry Do is fairly sociopathic, though I guess not the exact kind you're looking for (the story is a comedy, and Harry almost cares about certain people).

Still my favorite story in the broader sociopathic!Harry family, though.

I second this, but I'm biased... Given that I wrote the damn thing.

Yeah, I should probably get on that.

That's psychopathy, though they've become one and the same under the new psychiatric evaluation rules. Sociopathy in the sense we're talking about is severely muted emotional responses (if there are any at all), lack of understanding of emotions in others, lack of empathy, lack of compunction against murder, etc.

I thought psychopaths were people who actively wanted to hurt other people. And sociopaths are people who do not care about morals or laws for morals or laws sake. They only care about the consequences of breaking the law or doing things deemed wrong of evil.

Nah, psychopaths simply see themselves as the utmost important person in the world. They're violent only because it brings them pleasure and forces the victims into place beneath them. It's like a God complex taken to its extreme, where everyone else lives to serve you.

Sociopaths, while generally quite violent themselves, do it because they don't understand that other people are, well, people. It's like the difference between hot and cold, really. Psychopaths do it for the thrill and the power it brings them, sociopaths because they don't understand not to.

Could be interesting though. Sociopath!Ron (most fanon Ron is this imo, especially in bashing fics).
So if you want sociopaths in ur fanfiction - just read any Weasley bashing fics.

Given the sheer number of bashing style fics out there, odds are Rin, that you've read a fiction written by a sociopath.

Odd. I'm not sure how he got into the asylum for the criminally insane as the Criminal Procedure (Insanity and Unfitness to Plead) act, 1991 removed life-sentences to asylums which were imposed by the Trial of Lunatics Act, 1883. Instead he'd have gotten supervision or confinement to a psychiatric hospital. Or, an absolute discharge.

The absolute discharge is more likely as the Children and Young Persons Act, 1933, s.50 means that children of ten years cannot be held liable for any criminal conduct.

Yes, Vir, you're quite right. In jolly old Latin, we call that principle Doli Incapax - the incapability of a child to understand the concepts of right and wrong.

In fanon its pretty common to see a young Harry get this sort of stuff very easily, but for a child understanding social mores isn't easy. Especially for children, just doing what seems the funnest is the common idea. Similar to that of a sociopath. In fact, you could say we are all sociopaths, only the majority of us are more afraid of others than they are willing to do what they want. So really, any truly independent Harry or even just a Harry willing to stand up for himself is partly sociopathic.

I think the appeal of sociopath Harry isn't the social predator aspect but the imperiousness, the charisma and the bravery that comes from not caring about anything other than one's self.

If thats the case, I love reading amoral, self interested and willful characters who do what they want. They're usually my favourite character. The real difference behind every strong Harry is whether he cares in an ownership way or a supportive way - I see that as being the only difference between hero and sociopath.
