Correct me if I'm wrong, but my GeForce 105M is worse than your 5700 isn't? and I have a i3 quadcore @ 2.33ghz if I'm not mistaken, and those games play smoothly, as long as I keep to medium graphic settings.

It's not that the games play badly. It's that they dont even start when I try to run them. I cant even get them to boot up without an error of some sort. The three FPS's that I listed will run if I tweak the resolution before I start them up. Afterward, I can pump the resolution back up to as high as I want it, and the games are as smooth as butter.

Again, my system isnt bad. It will run whatever I ask it to very well. Except the games I purchase from steam.

Something like that, though I stick to my 11 year old Q3 mod Urban Terror, instead of TF2.

Actually it's kind of funny, now that I've got all these strategy games, I've found that I'm really not willing to put forth the effort to learn how to play all of them. Starcraft II takes huge amounts of time to play competently, and that's pretty much the only one I'll play these days. I've been getting into Sins of a Solar Empire, but I've found some aspects that just annoy me.

Hitman: Blood Money (the latest) is $2.50 on Steam right now. No reason not to buy it at that price.

They're doing a week of daily Square Enix deals. Today's is slightly less fantastic but still tempting with the two Kane and Lynch games for five bucks. And for the entire week, there's what looks like the entire SE library for $75.

Oh, and Civ 4 with all the expansions for $7.50.

This weekend, 75% off all things Command & Conquer. $7.50 for RA3, $5 for each of the expansions, and $17.50 for C&C4: Tiberian Twilight.

I may have to pick up The Witcher. As an RPG fan, it's somewhat ridiculous that I haven't played it.

If you were, like me, firmly on the Sega side of the Mega Drive / Genesis vs SNES debate, then at least one of the following'll trip your nostalgia:

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
    Alien Soldier
    Alien Storm
    Altered Beast
    Bio-Hazard Battle
    Bonanza Bros
    Columns
    Columns III
    Comix Zone
    Crack Down
    Decap Attack
    Ecco the Dolphin
    Ecco Jr.
    Ecco: The Tides of Time
    ESWAT: City Under Siege
    Eternal Champions
    Fatal Labyrinth
    Flicky
    Gain Ground
    Galaxy Force II
    Golden Axe
    Golden Axe II
    Kid Chameleon
Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole
    Light Crusader
    Ristar
    Shadow Dancer
    Shining Force
    Shining Force II
    Shining in the Darkness
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
    Space Harrier II
    Streets of Rage
    Streets of Rage 2
    Super Thunder Blade
    Sword of Vermilion
    Vectorman
    Virtua Fighter 2
    Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair

Entire shebang is on Steam for ten bucks. I'd get it if it weren't for the inexcusable lack of Toejam & Earl.

Yo dawg, I'ma let you finish, but SNES had the best games of all time! OF ALL TIME!

RPGs alone made that the system to own. I think I liked Skitchin', the Sonic series, the Xmen games, and the ones in the list above out of all my Sega games. Makes me wonder, just what the hell happened to gaming developers and quality games. I think the need to rush out games nonstop has really killed the medium.

Those games were good in the day, but if someone tried to push one of those for full price these days they'd be laughed right out of business, and rightfully so. Gaming's evolved as a business, and I'm not going to pretend it's all for the better, but I'd say it's definitely a net positive, even if it has attracted fucksticks like Kotick.

Oh, and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena for five bucks, and the Ghostbusters game for ten.

Ghostbusters: The video game was worth it, even with it's annoying parts it was a good game for what it was, The Sanctum Slime one, looks like a reskin of another game I saw awhile ago, not worth 10$ for that one.

Bit of a derail, but vaguely related:

On the Sega Megadrive*, does anyone remember the game that came preloaded, that you could play without a cartridge? I both loved and hated that game. I played it loads, but I never understood how to play it lol. I'd love to see a video of it again, or even an emulation.

It's possible that there was more than one such game. Unfortunately I can't really describe it as my memories are quite vague. I'd almost definitely recognise it if I saw it though.

    *Actually, the Sega Megadrive II.
