I'm still in the process of trying to adjust the code to put other things on the right-hand side, and just leave others (namely the things you mentioned) on the left. It's just a bit wacky coding.

My home desktop; dual 27 inch 1920x1080 monitors.

My work desktop; four 21.5 inch 1920x1080 monitors.

Nothing to write home about about my desktop aside the large amount of screen real estate. At work the four wide setup is useful, but I find that I don't use the far right one nearly as much as the other three because of how wide the whole thing is. I find that I situate my chair in front of the second monitor from the left, so the one on the far right is too distant for anything aside low-use programs like Live messenger and email clients. I have considered on numerous occasions requesting from my boss a monitor arm so that I can have one (or perhaps two) of my monitors on a second row.

I personally like my monitors at home more because they're bigger (27inch vs 21.5).

As you may note, I am uncreative when it comes to finding backgrounds. I use Ultramon to get the multiple taskbars.

Been messing around with my desktop again. I don't know about the new clock/calendar/system info skins in the top left, I might change them back.

EDIT: Went back to the old style. Changed the font though.

Man. I've been checking the Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) Alpha3, on a second partition. I'm really liking the new Ubuntu-designed Gnome-Shell branch, Unity. Once it gets stable, it'll be epic.

Current theme is "A New Start". (By the by, Webupd8.org is an awesome sauce for Ubuntu shits.)

That last one...Is that thing always there? I saw a screenshot somewhere that had it, and I hated it (and still do...I'm NOT upgrading past 10.10). I'm glad they moved the buttons back to the right, though. That always made no sense at all...

Also, what the fuck with the dock...If I wanted a fucking faggy Mac, I'd have paid for an overpriced piece of shit.

Looks like it's time to get back into Xfce...GNOME themselves are doing something similar, and it too looks like shit.

I'm gonna assume you mean the icons and the black overlay. No. It's only open when you click the menu button. One of the only two things I don't like about Unity. The thing replaces the menu, rather than the old menus...

The other is that all menu bars (I.E. File Edit View) and Maximize/Minimize/Close buttons have been moved to the panel bar. And I have yet to find a way to move the close/maximize buttons. Its unbelievable annoying.

I kind of like it, but its not so responsive atm. Doesn't always detect windows being maximized, so you've gotta hover on an icon and move, did it hide?, repeat.

No, they aren't doing something similar. Ubuntu is doing something similar. Unity is so similar to Gnome-Shell because they took it and then modded it for ubuntu.

So far the most major difference I can see is Ubuntu wanted to lock down the dock so you can't move it at all.

But Gnome-Panel still ships with Ubuntu, it seems...
