Trailer looks awesome. Though I like the Ultimate 40's-Cap costume better than the movie costume.

Feels more... vintage. He should get a more modern-style costume after he wakes up in the future.

Pent up anger from the way they did Iron Man 2.

I might understand the palladium part, but I really liked the Howard Stark bits.

So you weren't annoyed by Howard Stark being a SHIELD founder and having created an element to save his son's life thirty years or so before he even found out he needed it?

Just went to see Sucker Punch and this was one of the trailers. Freakin awesome; I'm pretty stoked. I was really impressed with the way they handled skinny!Steve. Bah, can't wait! It's gonna be one of the good ones, I think.

Well he didn't create the element specifically to save Tony's life. IIRC, it was vibranium, which is a super-metal and a major component of Cap's shield, among other things. I guess in the film universe it's an element Howard invented rather than something mined out of Wakanda. Or maybe it's a synthetic version of what's found in Wakanda, I don't know. Point being, Tony figuring out that it could also be used for the arc reactor in his chest was happy coincidence.

As for the SHIELD founder bit... no, not really. If he's part of the team behind Captain America, I could definitely see him as being a driving force for creating an organization to fulfill that sort of role after Cap is presumed KIA.

The trailer looks pretty good but the costume looked rather silly and out of place.

This. The costume just looked awkward to me.

Of the four superhero movies this summer - X-Men, Green Lantern, Thor, and Cap - this is the only one I want to see in the theatre. I'll probably rent Thor, then go see Avengers next year.

Casting looks damn near perfect in this... and Hugo Weaving makes everything better.

I know this isn't a GL thread, but does anyone else think Ryan Reynolds wasn't right for Hal Jordan?

I know what you mean. There was a terrific fanmade trailer for Green Lantern with Nathan Fillion as Hal which I liked a lot. I definitely would have preferred him instead of the bodysuit shots of Reynolds' abs which will be pulling most of the weight in this film.

Eh. I'm a Marvel fan. The only DC Universe character that's been done right lately is Bats. Personally, I think Hollywood's slaved so many directors to the dark and gritty realistic reboot shtick that they don't know what to do with a hero who's origin isn't all that dark or gritty.

I dread the Wonder Woman film that's inevitably coming. Especially if Megan Fox is cast as rumored.

Zack Snyder's doing Superman. Might be good, if they can have him fight someone for once instead of using Lex Luthor again.

I'll be seeing Thor and Cap definitely. Still deliberating over X-Men. I'll probably end up seeing GL eventually.

I saw that 'trailer' a while back and thought it was actually pretty good for a tweaked fan-made mash-up. And yeah, it looked a little more serious.

Probably no worries on WW, since they're currently shooting a new TV series.

There's just something about GL that looks... off.
Thor looks 'not-bad' - and everybody loves Agent Coulson.
X-Men, I just have a thing against prequels (see Wolverine, Star Wars, etc.)
But this just looks a good, old-fashioned, sci-fi action movie.

I dunno, First Class looks like it's gonna be pretty damn awesome.

As for Cap, I just hope they stick with the proper characterization and haven't tried to ruin him again by turning him into a US propaganda machine.

To be fair, a great deal of the purpose of Captain America, both in the comics and in RL was as a US propaganda Machine

Not all of the time. I believe it was Iron Man who originally suited that purpose. Fighting Russians, supporting capitalism, etc. For the most part, Cap hasn't simply been a tool of the US government, but rather supported the ideals it was founded upon.

Really, you have to look no further than Civil War to see what I'm talking about.
