I can't continue playing this because my graphics card that was the product of my 4th RMA blew up AGAIN, but all I can offer a tl;dr summary

I nearly cried tears of joy

This game, fully set to high, makes the console version look like it's 5+ years out of date. I try to normally not touch console ports, and I've been reminded a few times now why with this game. But the sheer awesomeness of tethering people to vehicles and then watching them ripped off their feet makes me ignore it. Snagging someone's humvee that's chasing me by the front bumper, and then tethering the pavement in front of it results in a gigantic moment of giggling from me when the truck meets the end of the tether and is yanked up and backwards suddenly, flinging the soldiers in every which direction. Quick thinking I retethered the one in the air to the one beside me, and kept that up in an awesome domino effect of insanity going down the road, until they all went over the guardrail and into the ocean, while we were all going berserk laughing.

I'm already plotting what sort of crazy shit I want to do next. Tethering someone to a helicopter blade when the helo is parked, and then taking off, linking them to a gas barrel and then shooting the barrel, etc, etc.

That said, it's console roots show in the controls. The auto aim "help" pisses me off, the controls when you're falling, or when you're trying to grapple, then slingshot using the parachute, or when you're falling and trying to grapple onto something, are horrible. Maybe I'll get used to them, but right now it's not intuitive, and I've fallen to my death many times. And I don't understand why when game companies make ports, what the fuck they have against giving PC users the time tested, proven, hotbar/hotkeys on screen.

Climbing certain things drives me insane too, like in the first area, where you have to climb the casino tower. Meh. I kept getting stuck or falling until I started hopping back and forth between the pylons, between that, and the tutorial's randomness as to what you could tether onto, it had me raging so hard I nearly stopped playing.

Playing it a little more when I get my card, but I think I'll be buying this one.

The game is fucking amazing, and I've been playing it for about eight months - and I'm running it on a PC three years old. Easily one of the best video game experiences I've had for a long time.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game as well. Along with Mafia 2, I got it free with my new video cards.

One of my favorite things to do in the game is pretty simple, but amuses me anyway. I grapple someone and yank them forward, then blast them mid-air with my sawed off shotgun.

I've also had a bit of trouble with the controls, especially turning around when you're free falling. It's like the camera either turns left or right, but you have to put your mouse in a very specific spot to stay still. Climbing tall buildings also feels awkward due to the camera.

If you're still having trouble with falling to your death, you can avoid all falling damage by grappling the ground. I once took a helicopter up as far as I could go and jumped out. When the ground came up a grappled onto it and pulled myself in, and didn't take a single point of damage. Unrealistic of course, but with awkward controls to fight with I'm fine with it.

You didn't mention mods, so I'll put up a link here to http://www.justcause2mods.com/

There are some nice little mods there. I enjoy running around grappling enemies while looking like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat!

More importantly though, there are some mods to help fix poor controls. Haven't tried them yet, but a couple look fairly promising.

    Edit:
I forgot to mention the first person mod that's on the front page of the site. That one looks like a lot of fun.

I was meant to have this game. I went to Best Buy today to buy it, since Gamestop evidently thinks console kiddies shouldn't be allowed near PC games that aren't MMORPGs (the one by me isn't stocking shit other then MMORPGS), and I grabbed the last copy they had on the shelves.

$49.99.. Damn that's high, I thought the game'd been out for a bit. I asked the employee wandering around that section to price check it, and he said the price was right. "Fuck it," I thought. "I've pirated enough games that eating a higher price for a quality, fun game isn't a big deal."

Then I got the register with my game, and new xbox 360 controller (Thanks Saboteur for ruining my goddamned original controller with that push in left stick hard as shit to sprint bullshit) and I swiped the card without paying attention. I got home and realized the game rang up for 19$, lmao. Then I got home and installed it, wasn't planning on playing it since my damned video card crapped out AGAIN (thanks evga) only to find out the effing game will run on my backup 8600gt with medium settings at 30fps.

The gaming gods were with me today.

So after gaming this for a good solid 7 hours, I'll have to take a bit away from the score. The controls later on for aiming once the army shows up in droves makes it impossible to quickly take out large chunks of them. I find myself accidentally tethering to random stuff, shooting way wide of where I was aiming, etc.

Other things, mostly interface related have me frustrated. The black market interface for example, is ass. I want to buy ammo. You can't buy just ammo, you have to buy a $55,000 assault rifle. You need grenades, pistol ammo, and say a ride? Guess what, you're going to go in and out of that menu and through the cinematics 4 total times. The scenes are skippable, but the fact that you can't just buy all your stuff at one go is retarded. Having to rebuy my chaos parachute each time I die doesn't make me happy either.

Found several bugs as well related to mid air stuff. I jumped out of my jet, free fell for a bit, retethered to it in mid fall, and I got locked in position unable to move until I hit the ground, and then shortly after the jet landed on top of me. Another time I leaped onto a jet taking off, went to surf on it, and suddenly died for zero reason.

Other minor things, like the nonstop respawning army. I only stopped playing because I got so mad with dealing with them while looking for the last 4% in this village. I'd kill a ton, even take out 3 or 4 helos, and yet they'd still keep coming. Alright, maybe that makes sense in a village by a busy road, but on the mountain top middle of nowhere outposts shouldn't have a steady flow of reinforcements.

I still rate it a solid 8.5 out of 10, and only taking away points for a barely useable control scheme, and annoyance factor with certain aspects.

    What res? 1080p?

I am considering this game but would like it to have multiplayer.

Just picked up an XFX 6950 2GB and playing Batman: AA and maxed out everything and it looks stunning.

Yep, 1920x1080. Can get a bit choppy when you do something insane, like running a power boat up a beach off a boat ramp into a fuel tank while paragliding above the flames...

    Wait.... reread that. Win.

Do you use mods at all for this game Midknight?

They've got a "Superman" mod where they basically replace your parachute with the ability to fly around at high speeds. Looks pretty great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AyxCc47LJw

This kind of game with a multiplayer option would be awesome! Here's to hoping they consider it for JC3.

This game is a bitch for 100% completion.

I played it fucking ages ago. The airship casino bar strip club thing was a cool beans idea.

Just bottomless ammo. Which isn't really bottomless, but it keeps letting you pick up ammo you find, instead of just filling your clip and then wasting the rest of the magazine on the ground.

And yeah the airship bar was awesome as hell. I kept trying to blow it up to no avail =(

I also just got this game recently. I'd highly recommend the Black Market mods - they unlock every weapon and vehicle in the game, as well as reduce their costs to upgrade significantly and their cost to be bought to around 1/10th. Makes the game a ton more fun when you can fully upgrade the agency's jetplane and use it to get around at no serious cost, but also doesn't completely remove the necessity for exploration for upgrades.

    Wonderful game in general.
