Au contraire, Eddard's idiocy is the reason he's dead, the same could be said of all the Starks really.

Now being annoyed at this makes sense to me I don't know why but I hate a weak character more than an undisputedly evil one. I was nearly turned off the books after the first time we saw Lysa because I was worried it delved too deep into stupid weak characters. It makes sense sometimes, but it's still annoying.

The reason I asked is because I saw it implied somewhere (probably TV Tropes) that Sansa was evil because she was girly and feminine and not the feminist role model that Arya and Brienne are which pissed me off, and made me want to prove it wasn't true. And as for her being shallow, she's what...fourteen? I think she can get a pass. I'm not so sure her siblings are any less so but that's probably just me.

I personally hated the POVs of the Stark children equally, yet for some reason Arya's seemed to bore me to tears (when it didn't annoy me).

I actually think that Sansa was starting to get better during A Feast for Crows. Not a lot, but slowly maybe moving away from being an annoying helpless idiot damsel and moving towards perhaps being something more useful.

With Littlefinger guiding her she could become very interesting. For now she is the last Stark (that people know of) and could perhaps have the North rally behind her. Littlefinger is also fixing to set up up with the likely heir to the Eyrie. If she commanded the loyalty of the North and the Vale, I suspect the Riverlords would support her as well.

Assuming that Harry Hardyng is half competent and that Littlefinger continues supporting Harry and Sansa if (when?) they make their move, they could be a very formidable force.

Especially if the Iron Throne soon has trouble with Dorne and perhaps the Tyrells and their supporters. And Stannis and Dany are still out there as well.

I don't think Littlefinger will make it that far. Sandor Clegane impaling Littlefinger through the neck seems more likely to me.

And agreed that Sansa seems to be moving toward something useful. In fact, it's typical of George R. R. Martin to put unexpected spins to his characters, for good or bad. Being the useless bitch she's been so far, I expect Sansa to pull off Cercei's death once and for all.

The heck she does. Not to mention that in a medieval setting people have to grow up a lot faster, her sister(the same one she constantly berates for being a nuance) ditch the city and get the heck away from king's landing at the first possible chance. Yes, she gets into even more trouble but is willing to fight for herself.

Sansa however took her time to grab the chance to escape with that knight.

Alright, I realize all that looks more like Arrya love than a reason to dislike Sansa, so I'll tell you this. We see Sansa in a 1st person POV. That means we can see her thoughts and feelings, and it's disgusting. I was hoping she would learn something after her wolf died, so I was not that surprised when she still failed to learn anything after Ned.

If the author meant to be this way(which I really believe he did) or not doesn't matter. I abhor any character that has no growth whatsoever from the hardships that he endures, and Sansa is the purest representation of that.

/me hopes Littlefinger has his way with her before pushing her off a tower when she starts messing up her plans.

Uh... Am I the only one who's not exceptionally impressed with this series? To be entirely honest, the only reason I'm watching it is because Daenrys and the production crew. The crew did a fantastic job building the world, and hot chick is hot. The only characters I think actually live up to the books are Arya, King Whats-His-Name, Sansa (which obviously isn't exactly a positive thing) and Jon (barely). The chick playing Daenrys is a mediocre actor, same with Cersei. I don't even feel the slightest bit of sympathy for any of the characters, as they woodenly deliver their lines.

I disagree. I think they are pretty good actors - but the problem is that we - those that have read the books - have a very high expectation and the fact that we know in advance what characters will say or what will happen only diminishes our perception of the depth of acting. Any dialogue will be less mysterious, less genuine, less surprising because we all know about those clues hidden in them or how this or that character turned out to be a traitor, bad guy, good guy or dead, later in the books.

Isn't Sandor dead? I thought either Rorge or Biter had taken his armour and then Lem later, but Sandor was definitely dead?

I don't think that Littlefinger's plans will work out like he wants, but then again he has shown himself to be exceptionally good at adjusting them when need be.

There is still a lot of story left to go. Hopefully Sansa will grow up a bit in that time. If nothing else, her PoV can offer interesting insights into what Littlefinger is up to.

Something is bugging me about the show. I just cant put my finger on it.

But I am reasonably happy at the current status.

The rest of Cersei's children get no mention whatsoever, maybe that is the something that is bugging me or the the fact that we have no frame of reference when they arrived at kings landing. They just assumed you knew they where they were and continued the story.

As I recall, it's implied he faked his death and started living as a monk. They did take his armor and start pillaging in his name though.
Also, in regards to the Sansa hate... she may be annoying and useless, but in comparison to massive number of utterly evil fucks in this series, she ranks pretty low on my hate list.

I distinctly remember the scene with Arya and the butchers boy occurring in King's Landing. Maybe I've gotten it wrong, its been a while since I read the books.

They are in a inn by the road. The same inn used in a lot of scenes in the later books if i'm not mistaken.

Finally got around to seeing the second episode. I liked it better than the first in many respects. Jon and Robb seem younger than they did in the first one, and given some of the dialogue it seems they are supposed to be around 16, which works nicely (Cat makes a comment about Eddard leaving 17 years ago and and returning 1 year later with Jon). But more importantly repeated references to Jon as a boy and various other interactions did a good job of making him and Robb seem like youths instead of men.

The wolves featured a bit more, which was nice. They seem to be doing a good job of cutting out bits that didn't need to be shown. I seem to recall Cat spending a lot of time being pissed off at Summer making a racket and wanting to see Bran, etc. But here we just have her making one comment about not liking the racket the dogs are making and next thing you know Summer saves the day and she's happy.

The actor playing Tyrion is doing a damn good job, as is the young actress playing Arya. They're really bringing their characters to life.

Sorry, got the name mixed up. I meant the Dog/Hound. Was it Sandor or the other brother?

    Sandor = The Hound

Gregor = The Mountain That Rides

Gregor's an evil sumbitch who kills, loots, pillages, and rapes for fun. Sandor's an evil sumbitch who simply kills anyone he wants to kill, needs to kill, or just annoys him.

Actually, it was the castle at Darry, which is somewhere near the Kingsroad and Trident iirc. Close to Harrenhal, I think. Probably close to that Crossroads Inn.

Brilliant episode. First one I've completely loved.

Also, the soundtrack of the opening credits is awesome.
