Came across this game while browsing another forum, looks interesting, should be done sometime this year. The Alpha leak is out now if you know where to look.

Looks sweet for what it is, unorganized as hell though. I will be installing it shortly to check it out

At first I was like "meh" (just from the description), but this actually looks really fun.

Pre Alpha version I downloaded is very slim on pretty much everything, but it's easy to see how the full version will be fun. I've been digging for close to 2 hours, discovered tons of boring caves with a bunch of copper, little iron, rare gold. No water so far, no lava, but the game can handle digging straight down for that long with no end in sight, so interesting to see what the full version will fill all that space up with.

The enemies spawn way too densely early on though, you wind up pulling a minecraft and making a bunker. They seem to spawn underground even in light, so I wound up building safety barriers every 300 feet or so. Made ax, sword, hammer, torches, doors, stone blocks for walls so far, not seeing anything else possible to make in the pre alpha version.

Yeah, I read about this too. I really can't wait to be able to play it, especially since it seems to emphasize co-op play with a small group over the internet. Will be a fucking blast.

At first I was like "meh" and then I was still like "meh".

    I don't like 2d games.

The fact that you can have NPC's come and live in towns is an interesting bit, creating massive 2d towns and such.

I'm just hoping it won't be as resource intensive as Minecraft is, though. If it's not that resource intensive, I probably will get it.

Having watched a lot of the game's content (some YouTuber called PaperBatVG has been doing an LP of the game), that's bullshit. It's definitely inspired in part by Minecraft, but it is not a clone.

Rudolph: Unlikely, seeing as it's written in C# and XNA.

Time to watch those LP's and educate myself more about the game.

I'd actually advise against watching them. He shows off a lot of the game's content and, honestly, he's fucking awful at the game. He'll just piss you off.

EDIT: Oh hey, Terraria is now confirmed for Steam. I figured this was going to happen, but it's excellent news all the same.

I'll take your word for it.

Have you seen the Yogscast LP's of Terraria? They're pretty much just bumbling around, figuring things out in a slightly comical way.

Yeah, I have. I'm really not sure what to think of that, honestly. Their stuff works for Minecraft since they're just bumbling around, checking out other people's creations, but it's not really the same with Terraria, where I actually want to see some competence.

Really, half the reason I want to play Terraria is so I can fuck it up just slightly less than PBat and the Yogscast do.

Not interested at all. I really do not like 2D games like this. I'll keep with minecraft and just wish, once day, it won't be as resource intensive

Thanks to yet another leak (I'm assuming here, but the timing all but guarantees this is the case), Red and Blue have decided to release Terraria early. Expect to see it on Steam Monday.

    Well, hey.

Now to wait for Monday (barring no complications on their end) and buy Terraria like a boss :awesome

Terraria is officially out, for those interested. I'm planning to pick it up pretty soon. /Love the yogscast for showing me this.

I can't wait until they update it some. Online with it is...questionable, in a way. I tried to run a server for my friend and I to co-op on (both on the same box), and the client acting as the server crashed when I joined it.

    Ah, Terraria.

Still don't have the money for it, like I expected to on Monday. Ah, well. Eventually I'll get it and see how it's like first-hand.
