Why would you read a story on ficwad.com and expect it to have a plot or character development?

 

For that matter why would you read a story on ficwad at all? I haven't found anything on there that's not on another archive.

 

I laughed and died a little when I realized how close some of these descriptions came to what happened in The Wise Man's Fear.

EDIT: Also, have to agree with Ounce on this one. Every man does it at some point, though I would be somewhat disturbed if you took a ruler to other men's genitals.

 

Until today, I wasn't aware that website existed. FF.net has plently of dubious...specimens. My rant came entirely from stories that can be found there.

And now, I'm off to see what this ficwad is all about.

 

Ficwad isn't too bad. Its worse than a lot of other sites certainly, but its still reasonable to read things on. I don't get why folk hate it so much...

It is. Nothing new in the last 4 years in HP over there.

 

Except for that fic that was published on the 2nd of May? Or perhaps the one on the 9th of April. Just because it doesn't get a thousand new fics every day doesn't mean the place is dead. It just means there is less shit to sift through to try and find something decent to read. I check it every couple of weeks to see whats new, whats been updated etc.

 

My mistake. Sorry. I just check the number in front of the name of the category. As far as I remember, 1532 has been written in front of the HP category ever since I first found the site.

 

I've seen it rise to that from below 800 It has taken the last 5 or so years for that to happen though, so it definitely is a slow process. It slowed down even more a while back when there was a big thing about Ficwad getting deleted, which turned out to be a hoax by someone to try and get people to move all the fics to this persons own site, but in the end all that happened was a number of authors stopped updating their work on ficwad, slowing it down even more.

 

I don't see the point of going to that site, however. Due to misfortune (or poor searching skills?) the best fic I found there was "Harry Potter and the Land of the Midnight Sun" or something of that sort. It has been, till date, the only harem-fic I've been able to tolerate (read really enjoy).

 

There are many stories out there with Harry being betrayed and sent to azkaban. though the plot about betrayal is kinda impossible, let us take these stories for now.

In half of these stories, harry wounds up with bellatrix proclaiming his ever lasting love, and bellatrix loves back saying that she is freed of mind control due to some inane reason. Let's leave them out for now.

In the other half, harry spends most of his time developing wandless magic until dumbldore comes and releases him. The story is good until now. But nobody could resist the temptation to ruin such a good story. Instead of hurting, torturing and killing those back stabbing bitches, do you know what he does? He fucking pranks them. He fucking pranks them in all the stories. For god sakes, they sent him to azkaban, remember, dememntor infested azkaban, sending an abused and neglected orphan who have more than 3 near death experiences per year to sorrow inducing dementor guarded azkaban.

There is a great potential of dark and evil harry in these stories. All of it is getting wasted. for what? for pranks which we can read in other genres.

tl;dr

I really would like to read an azkaban harry story where he gets proper revenge by torturing, raping and killing but not by pranks.

 

Wouldn't make sense unless he was already capable of doing those things before going to Azkaban. But if you're looking, search for Rivers of Blood on FFnet. I'd link, but I'm currently using a phone.

Azkaban wise, I think it could be possible for him to become a murder depending on how long you have him in there.
Another common thing used to negate a true-ish Azkaban!Harry is the use of him somehow being able to block the dementors out almost from the start. At this point, he really is just in seclusion. In a jail still, but even if he was on a mountain top perfecting wandless abilities, he wouldn't be there for the food or scenery.

Speaking of Azkaban stories, I've noticed in the few I have read, that everyone likes to burn his crap. Sure vengeance against him is sweet and all, but why destroy an expensive Quidditch broom?

Harry's going to prison you say? Well grab his broom out of the shed, its bonfire and BBQ time!

 

I've never really understood Azkaban!Harry fics. He fell unconscious just being close to one Dementor; if he went to Azkaban, which is practically their nesting ground, he'd spend the entire time in a coma.

 

I think I would be rather entertained by a crack fic like that, or has him insane to the point he's turning bottles into kidneys or something. Or he learned how do some other useless spell wandless. As these stories tend to have Dumbledore placing him there, it could be a rather funny 'oops' on his part.

 

Seen a few where Ron stole his broom and Hermione his invisibility cloak and Owl. They weren't good but at least they were different.

 

What the hell would you do with a stolen owl? Try and send some mail and she'd never come back.
