Story Summary: Magic the likes the Ministry of Magic has never seen before has been invoked. Seven Masters are chosen, fighting for either the Dark or the Light. Their struggles will lead to more than just the Heaven's Feel, but the fate of Wizarding Society as a whole.

So, yet another Harry Potter/Fate crossover. This one is kind of interesting because, to date, not a single F/SN character has appeared (except for some of the Servants, and not any of the ones you might have been expecting). It's much more a Harry Potter 'fic than a crossover.

It's interesting so far, but so far I'm on chapter 5/6 and they still haven't gotten to the courtroom scene yet (this is a year five 'fic btw). There are some occasional spelling and grammar issues too. Not a great work, but it passes the time.

I like this Archer. His test to see whether Shacklebolt and Lupin could see him was hilarious.

It was ruined in the 6th chapter when the other people from the anime appeared until then it was good. Not the best and I agree that the part with Molly was slightly frustrating but I liked how the author wrote down Harrys plight: how nobody told him everything and so on. The adults reactions were stupid. In one moment paranoid in the other too trusting. The parts with Draco feakin' pointless.

So I would give it 2/5 till the 5th chapter. But not worthy even for trash bin...

Good story - perhaps even library worthy, as it's certainly as good as anything else in the Restricted Section.

Well written, decent, tasteful smut, and good characterisation. I can't decide whether it's abandoned/on hiatus or a one shot though. Didn't see anything to say, and it feels both finished and pleasingly open to expansion. Nice find.

It's a one-shot, written for smutty_claus. And now I have a bunch of high-quality smut to read, so my thanks to wolf.

Take Harry Potter and dump him in an original universe that's a cross between the Dresden Files, the Kingkiller Trilogy, and Lord of the Rings. Shake, stir, and pour chilled.

Don't think this is library worthy at it's length and
Harry being all like, oh well, I guess I'm just going to go live a new life and not bother with the old one, fuck you Voldemort, very much. And everybody else too.

Still, the imagery was great and the idea relatively unique (insofar as I haven't read anything similar).

I tried this long ago. I gave up. I tried again later. I gave up again. It's terrible. It's basically A Second Chance at Life lite. And that's not a compliment.

Yep. Second Chance at Life with less imagination and originality, less motivation, worse writing. Don't know why people bother, sometimes.

Edit: Agree with Ceebee, T3t finds comparisons that make the stories he likes sound much, much better than they are.

I've read both Atra Regnum and its original form Shades of Grey. Your description of Dresden, Kingkiller and LotR is so ridiculously incorrect it astounds me that anyone could ever come up with it.

Maybe you could say it is similar to The Dresden Files, in that it has an expanded magical world with various types of nonhumans like fae (in exciting varieties like Earth, Ice, Light, Dark blah blah who cares), Dragon-lizard men, vampires and werewolves. But I wouldn't really call it a similarity to Dresden in particular, just REALLY generic fantasy.

The writing isn't too shabby. Some of the concepts aren't presented too well, but I can see this writer becoming DLP-caliber sometime in the future.

Downfall is the prequel to Harry Potter: The Alchemists' Quest.

A story that might be fit for review in some time, but it's still too early to judge.

Downfall was mostly background. TAQ hasn't moved passed the first visit to Diagon Alley yet (50k words), but is well written at the very least. There seems to be a large role for an OC with special powers, who has already shown a dislike to Dumbledore. I can't say I like his Dumbledore much either. The author seems to go with the naive manipulator cliché.

IMO the fic suffers a little from the same pretentious attitude that plagues Methods of Rationality. Disappointingly enough the longest chapter yet was an almost complete rehash of the canon Diagon visit, down to overhearing the same random witch complaining about newt eyes. Seeing as one of his other stories is a Honks fic with 100k words covering the first two weeks after the Final Battle with about three Harry/Tonks conversations, it might just end up to be one of those endless first year fics with semi-adult eleven-year-olds and an incomprehensible plot (like MoR).

Still, the writing itself is solid, the apocalyptic backstory shows potential and Trelawney burned her eyes out, so it could become pretty epic.

    Maybe.
