Updated. I can honestly say, I enjoyed this chapter. I don't like how Harry is so helpless situation and I can't see any other ending bar the everyone is dead kind of but despite that I like how he acts.

This is, honestly, one of Ruskbyte's worst fics to date. There is no suspense, really - nor any anticipation, nor tension bleeding through the narrative. Just Freddy killing one guy after another.

Will not continue reading. There is no point in it. Freddy here is the worst Gary Stu, ever.

It says a lot about Ruskbyte's writing ability that this fic gets an average rating. I can't shake the feeling that author is supremely depressed or apathetic while writing this.

This is a terrible fic, period - don't care if Ruskbyte or xxbloodywristsxx wrote it.

Seconding Mors.... Freddy is a horrible antagonist. I only watched the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie - but damn did it suck.

This fic does absolutely nothing for me. It is grammatically sound - I just don't like the plot in the least.

Gonna have to echo the others in this thread; this story is pretty boring. It literally goes like this:

Someone pisses Harry off. He goes to sleep. Freddy kills them. And through the entire thing, nobody manages to put up a fight worth mentioning.

The deaths are a bit interesting in how they're different, but you know whoever Freddy picks is gonna die, so it gets old really fast.

He should just go ahead and kill Molly, Pomfrey, Hermione or Dumbledore already. I'm sure he's annoyed or angry enough with at least one of them to put them on Freddy's list. Something has to happen soon anyway, because simple gruesome murder isn't doing it for me anymore.

Pomfrey is pissing me off. Would you not just tell the the nurse what is going on? Who knows, maybe she's got some drugs to keep you awake?

I did read the latest chapter, against my better judgment which has now been vindicated.

Shitty premise, no plot, an antagonist who's his own Deus Ex Machina... even Ruskbyte can't salvage the story from this ruin. Mainly because most of us who like action can't see any in this fic. A guy torturing you with knives and other assorted implements is not action. And - one thing the author has probably missed - to make torture an effective tool the reader has to know the victim, to feel for them - which is why most effective torture scenes involve the protagonist as the victim. Or at least involve him.

Harry looking through the windows as people get maimed/killed does not good narrative tension make. This is the first example I've seen of such a Boring Invincible Villain - maybe I should add an entry to TvTropes... Ruskbyte's best way out is to delete the last few chapters and then start over - and then he should start with giving the magicals some ability to fight back. Shit, it's their dreams, and in life they can pretty much do whatever they want with the laws of physics, it wouldn't be that unbelievable. They just have to put up a fight.

I know I'm ranting, but I've written bit and pieces here and there, and as the author here is of Ruskbyte's caliber I'm ashamed on his behalf. He used to be one of my favorites.

The first chapter was tons better than what I expected. Most importantly, he captured the feeling of being in a dream, and the thrill of the chase. Freddy's dialogue was pitch-perfect, I liked the rhyming cadence. The first chapter could not have been more perfect for this premise. Very impressed withit.

The frustrating thing is that the story is kind of pointless as has been noted.

But his actual writing and prose is a huuuge step up from the last several projects - WTF excursions into Billy and Mandy and Bleach, where it was like an average writer had been writing under Ruskbyte's name. The talent is unmistakably Ruskbyte's, and sooner or later he's going to come up with the right plot.

This story is starting to reek of being a oneshot that's been dragged on far too long. Awesome concept for a quick ride, not enough meat on the bone for an actual chaptered fic.

I still enjoyed reading this, though I did get bored at the last few chapters. Still, Ruskbyte has this uncanny ability to merge two worlds into one seamlessly that I haven't seen in any other writer. It's as if I'm watching the adventures of Billy and Mandy, watching Freddie and his finger knives or reading an unpublished work by Iain Banks. 4.5/5
(Walks away muttering about Culture Shock.)

I enjoyed the chapter, but it's defiantly getting old. My biggest issue is how slowly the plot is moving, mixed with Harry's characterization. Harry knows exactly what's going on, but he's doing a really half-assed job at trying to stop it. It's understandable, fairly realistic, and it fits in with both canon Harry's attitude and the Elm Street series well. But it makes for pretty boring reading, and if I tried to read all the chapters so far in one sitting, I'd probably take a few breaks.

I think the story can be saved, but it'll take a bit of doing on Ruskbyte's part. That said, he certainty has the ability to pull it off, so I'm hopeful.

This. It's readable, but not much more than that. This just doesn't have Ruskbytes usual flair. It lacks everything that makes one of his fics interesting. 3/5

And what ever happened to Dreamless Sleep Potion?

Like much of Ruskbyte's stuff it's quite well written (but will likely never be finished). Probably doesn't help that I've never seen any of the Freddy movies but it seems like that isn't a requirement as I was able to follow what was going on. This is not one of his best stories in my opinion but it's still better than most of the crap out there.

The initial chase was a lot of fun to read (it's rare those are done well), and the subsequent nightmare murders were well done also. But in the end that's about all I felt there was to the story -- good writing and disturbing scenes. Not a lot of plot or character development, though there is some. Which, granted, is probably what the author was going for. I just find it harder to get into when it's not meant as a one-shot.

Ugh, but Umbridge is so overdone. I mean, I guess she is in canon as well, but it still irks me when it's done to this extent. Other characters seem almost caricatures of themselves as well, but again, probably intended. If Harry was spending a lot of time being weepy over Seamus dying or playing buddy-buddy with his friends the story would lose a lot of it's tone. Same if Harry had tried to contact someone to get help, etc.

I'd much rather have seen Culture Shock updated -- that's some good stuff there. This I put at 3.5/5 and, because honestly I didn't enjoy it all that much, I'm rounding down for the thread.

I'm going to guess that Harry didn't really think about it until the poisoning he received from Umbridge. Plus the potion's addictive. Unless that's Fanon and not Canon, I can't remember anymore. It's been a few years since I've even read the books last (and I doubt I will again, either. He's such a sissy that I can't stand his character).
