Hmizzle, if you are actually suggesting that every teen physically assaults people who are annoying them...then you're an idiot. A pithy comment in return...yes. A 'bitch slap'...no.

Then again, if we look at it from the perspective of the HP universe, there are so many other responses possible. A stinging hex perhaps, or something else of minor but amusing results, that if the recipient is fast enough they can block. Would that be perceived as a physical assault or the equivalent of a pithy comment...hmmmm.

Actually I think you'll find most real teenagers would respond by looking annoyed for five seconds while they try and find a 'pithy comment' and then say something to the effect of 'jog on you bellend'.

Fair point, well made. Fact remains, a 'bitch slap' is not on the agenda.

Well, as previously stated, it was an example, not a necessary thing to do. And also, I think you give too little credit to teens. I saw one the other day actually make a smart comment related to politics and the like, then make a sarcastic comment about David Cameron. T'was quite amusing.

I naturally related your more recent post with your original post, if that was not what you were referring to...apologies.

My lates peeves right now is forgiving the betrayers of a story. It was pretty common in azkaban stories and it seems it jumped to other fandoms now. Chuck fiction I recently read had some plot like this and I practially facepalmed. I mean WTF. Sarah goes on and on sleeping practially half of the spy world and Chuck simply forgives him.

Chuck fiction is over for me. At least until there is a storie wich isn't C/S.

Another recent peeve of mine is about a female character offering herself to main male character bu male one is refuses it for some Bullshit reason or another. I call that bullshit BULLSHIT man. I know I would dive right in so would most males. Making it character (who is single) refuse the offer is instant red X for me.

... Whow man I feel better know phew...

Sorry if I bothered anyone. Just I read several fiction one after another and well I was shaking when I finished. I took a walk, wrote the post above and now I am of to read a humor fic. That always makes me feel better.

English my 2nd language and if I'm not careful it looks like that.

You're shaking in anger, because a fictional character didn't make use of an easy opportunity to get laid?

You must suffer from some serious unresolved sexual tension.

And this is the major reason I disliked Stranger in a Strange Land. It's been a while since I read it but it seemed to suffer from the same problem most stories like that do : tunnel vision. They seem to forget that it's not just the main characters that need to forgive, the world at large does too and it rarely does. So once Harry/Ron/Hermione make it good with the rest of the gang it's back to business, disregarding the fact that other people's lives have been fucked up and there are never any consequences for it.

Even mainstream fiction falls into this trap and it's just as annoying.

So I just wasted a day and a half trying to read the Danger series; got halfway through the second story and dropped it because it was fucking boring (and stupid as shit). Not sure why it's so popular, the writing isn't bad but there's no fucking conflict at all. It seems to be a bad mixture of canon-rehash, miscommunications, and Holding the Idiot Ball.

The whole 'acting like a pack' thing bugged me a lot, humans form hierarchies naturally and don't codify them explicitly with titles like "alpha" and "beta". That's done in actual wolf packs (and Remus is the only werewolf there) and in psychological studies, but people don't go around baring their neck deliberately. Also, the prophecies spelling out exactly what's going to happen in the future kinda takes the whole point out of writing a story. I mean, if you know from 50k words in that it's going to end up mostly canon-shipping and you know beforehand every single goddam time that something bad happens, there's no tension. I wasn't even this pissed off while reading, only looking back after like 300k words does it bug me so much. Now I need to go scrub my brain, except I've run out of good fanfiction because I've read all of it. Goddammit.

Rinse and repeat, no? rereading a story is the only reason why I hang on to books after all. I couldn't get into the Dangerverse series, but it doesn't seem like I missed much if that's what it becomes. Excluding the fact that there are werewolves in Harry Potter, the entire concept of people acting like wolves/ or just wolves seems over done. Sometimes it seems like the stamped in 'cool' animal.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. Been over the classics already (CR, HP&tBWL, VINCET, OtWG, FtS, etc) and also a lot of stuff known only on DLP, now just going over more random stuff I keep picking up.

It's kinda annoying that there are only 150 good fics out there, and half are either one-shots, short, or abandoned.

This is what inspired me to start writing.

Even if my fanfiction sucks compared to most of DLP members, my fics are still going to be better than 95% of fics on fanfiction.net and maybe someone will get the motivation from my writings to create something wonderful.

Fml, now I want to write but I need to go study for a math test.
