I think the whole point of the the lariat/double-lariat test was to decide who the next host would be (and usually that would've been Raikage's brother if he had one). Seems silly but this is Naruto, so...

I was hoping for a Naruot v. Raikage fight but it seems there'll be speech therapy and Riakage'll let Naruto and B go.

 

I know this is the current fan take on the Valley of the End battle, but where exactly is it proven, or even implied, that Naruto actually did that?
Don't get me wrong, I support that as well, but how is it canon?

 

The basic idea is that if Naruto slips his hand up just a little, the force of the Rasengan chews off the top of Sasuke's (dumb hairstyled) head and kills him.

If he moves his hand a little lower, it rips his face apart and in the process likely kills him but at /least/ debilitates him with pain/bleeding/injury/blindness.



Since anything that's going to leave a deep, long gouge in high strength combat-armor grade steel is likely to do irreparable and likely fatal damage to someone's head/face/neck. But even assuming that Ninja are More Durable, he could have also aimed for say, The Eyes.

The most important piece that you all forget is that before their clash at the VotE Sasuke tells Naruto that he wouldn't even be able to put a scratch his forehead.

Or he could have just dropped a toad on him. Send in a shadow clone to do the Shonen talky thing, then drop a toad on Sasuke and the clone. Toad does that mouth bind thing Jiraiya uses and two problems solved at once- Sasuke is restrained, and his hair has been irreparably damaged by toad saliva.

 

Ahhh, but a Shadow Clone couldn't have exchanged blows dramatically inbetween "Shonen talky things".

Plus I think the idea at the time was that Sasuke had a faster reaction time than Naruto did, thus was probably too quick to pull off something complicated like a Summoning Combined Jutsu like that, if Jiraiya had even taught it to Naruto at all. Secondarily I'm pretty sure that at that point all Naruto could really get were Tiny Toad or GIANT TOAD OF SQUISHY DEATH. And not much inbetween. He wasn't exactly known for Chakra Control.

Eh, I always thought that Kakashi getting the Mangekyo Sharindumb was just that, dumb. He's not an Uchiha and he did not personally Kill Obito, that was Rock-Jounin-Guy.

I'm fairly sure it was just Kishimoto fanwanking over the Sharingan, again. And an excuse not to have to develop more of a unique fighting style and set of powers for the so called famous Copy Cat Ninja. Instead, just give him a Sharingan Upgrade!

 

He does have a style. His style is mind-fuck you while stealing your jutsu while telling you you suck.

 

That is a pretty awesome style. But it lacks depth. Maybe that's what kept him from the Hokage post after the Sandaime died?

 

How does it lack depth? Unless we're talking about guys like Itachi and Madara who can counter his Sharingan or guys who have a lot more chakra and stamina (Pein, Naruto, Kages), Kakashi's style automatically beats most styles, ranging from non-descript shinobi (mooks) to specialists like the Hyuuga, Gai, Tsunade, etc...

 

I would think that was more down to the fact that one of the Sannin was the most logical successor to the Third Hokage. If Jiraiya and Tsunade had both refused the offer, I would think Kakashi would have at the least been on the short list of backup candidates. After all, Konoha does seem to like giving to title to students/successors of the previous Hokage.

 

Gai was supposed to be just as strong as Kakashi, IIRC, and I'm pretty sure Tsunade would crush him like a bug. Since there was no way that he was taking on Orochimaru, whom Tsunade beat like a stepchild after she got over her Hemophobia.

And it lacks depth because it relies on the Sharingan. If you haven't noticed, there hasn't been a single Uchiha Hokage. If having the Copy Hax Wheel of Cheating Eye and relying upon it was enough to be Hokage, you'd have thought there would have been one from the 'bloodline clan' with an apparent overflow of 'genius' Shinboi.. that made it into those esteemed ranks.

Oh, I agree. My previous post was meant mostly in jest, you needn't convince me. You're quite correct.

 

Above argument doesn't work for me-as I recall (unless this is fanon), the lack of an Uchiha Hokage was deliberate and the reason for the attempted coup/actual massacre of the Uchiha. And I don't remember Tsunade beating Orochimaru like a stepchild ever.
