The idea that they know about the doctor but think his stories are exagerated is hilarious. They really have no idea just who the hell they have pissed off. This is a being who destoryed his own race and has brought down the Daleks, Cybermen, and everything else every time he has faced them. And like the big guy says there are countless people across all of time and space who owe the Doctor everything.

On a side note this would be a great time to bring back Captain Jack, Martha, and Mickie.

Do not want the latter two. They're just so iconic of the RTD era angstfest that ruined many of the better ideas that they used.

 

I could see Captain Jack showing up - it is supposedly possible for it to be sometime in the 51st Centuary. Not to mention it would link in to why he is back on earth for Miricle Day and furthur promote it. I believe it is coming out during the break in the Series isn't it? It may tie in.

Though, is we were going to get Captain Jack, surely we would of heard something about it.

 

I doubt they could keep it quiet but it would be awesome if the good captain returned.

Well A Good Man Goes To War was Epic no doubt about that, but why did it have to end with such an obvious reveal. That just begs more questions about River. Mainly why she didn't seem to care about anyone before this episode except the Doctor really, but I guess that can be explained. There were hints after all.

Best line ever.

Oh and Badass Rory FTW!

 

I think Captain Jack has to show up before the Doctor's death storyline is resolved.

Can you imagine his Companions faces when The Doctor tells Jack that he(Jack) will die and the two start whooping in celebration?

I still thoroughly enjoyed this Episode.

Now that we know that River song is the translation name of "Pond, Melody" I just realised her alias is in reverse. Just like how she meets with the Doctor.

I wonder if that was intentional or not. How long ago did Moffat know what River was. or did he evolve the character after the library episode when he first introduced her.

I think we now have to start writing Rivers name as "River, Song" from now on.

@At QyaziJoe: It was obvious though like Second Episode at least, first if you really think about it - thankyou Moffat for making it obvious. I never really talk about theories myself, I just figured it would be especially after seeing episode 2.

At lot of these things are symbolic of the reverse nature that River and The Doctor have. Consideri that to her his names means Great Warrior and if we look at River's name. Both Rivers and Songs are connected to healing. They are not the complete reverse. The Doctor is the violent one whilst River is the calm healing one.

Also, I really liked the Female Cleric we saw in the episode. I am glad that she will be back. Because the events of River and The Doctor confronting each other will undoubtedly take place in the past.

I am guessing that River was fully fleshed out right around the start of Season 5, he certainly new where exactly he wanted to take her character by that Season at least. Everything, was planned well in advance. We are talking about Moffat here. That is what he does. He drops us complex hints and allows us to bask in the brilliance of guessing his twists and turns along with him. He is sharing everything with the fans smart enough to get it.

Why ever do we have to write her name as River, Song? She is still River Song and always will be. Her name is just inversed to make sense.

Also, the "only water in the forest is the river" was not only obvious but had a layer of meaning that I did realise. You do not ever get Ponds in Forests, any Forest. You get lakes and rivers, but never ponds.

Great episode. For a moment (when she gave him a clue) I was thinking that they will make a different revelation about River as maybe the Doctor's sister, daughter or maybe even his later regeneration, but this makes more sense. Before that I was 99% sure about it when she met Rory at the beginning of this episode. Her reaction was the one I was waiting to see when she meets her parents without being prepared for it.

The title for the next episode is very interesting.

"Would you like me to repeat the question?" - the best line ever by Rory and the Doctor.

I loved all of the Doctor's new/old friends who showed up. We haven't seen them at all yet, which implies that some or all of their adventures are coming along down the line at some point.

What bugs me is how River didn't know about the Astronaut back in The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. Melody was the one in the astronaut's suit, and since River IS Melody, I'll be damned if she wasn't just playing dumb.

I'd like it if she were to completely lose her memories each time she regenerated- accounting for not being a full Time Lord. Still, we now know how River knew her brain would work to fix HAL in place of the Doctor's back in Forest of the Dead.

Doesn't mean I have to like it 100% though.

Still, great episode, and now I really want to kick some Nazi ass.

River Song not knowing it was her that shot The Doctor: A Possible Explanation

The future Doctor knew her when she was trapped in the suit and she obviously knew him at the time. He talks to her by saying "don't worry, it's only me" - she should know him. River also says the following line after her younger self goes into the lake. She says "it can't be". I think she honestly forgot her time as a child. Plus, The Silence was running around. They can mess with people's minds and memories. I bet she for the incident when she was a child and remembered it after the fact.

As for why she remembered The Doctor while she was in the suit. You remember important people in your life. I hate to use the term "imprint", but parents and important people affect babies very strongly.
