June's now open. Our super secret staff forums and World tells me Crossovers has been decided as the next subject. Have fun.

Dibs on V:TM-B crossover. Tremere!Harry makes too much sense though, so I will have to get the creative juices flowing.

    Heh. Interesting.

There's a thought - what type of crossover would most people want to see?

I'd be partial to a Doctor Who/Potter cross.

I'll put on my robe and Judging hat for June.

Pokemon!Harry captures Voldemort with a Master Ball, gives him a stupid nickname and locks him away in Bill's PC forever. He then sits on top of a mountain for years hoping that the power of the Elder Wand will die with him.

This is going to be a very interesting month I have to say. Given the fate of most x-overs I think the writers here can pull off some nice ones.

Though, I don't think any of them will top Dark Sayorans(sp?). But that's just me being a fanboi.

Hmm. Should I go Foundation/Harry Potter as planned? Or maybe something more standard...

Something worries me about crossovers. What if we aren't familiar with the fandom the author crosses with? Also, there's the possibility of a judge with a biased towards different fandoms, as opposed to others. Otherwise, I look forward to this. It will, without a doubt, be interesting.

Hopefully the writers will make the effort to make the story accessible to those who haven't read whatever it's crossed with. I will, if I enter.

Great category this month. I'm looking forward to it!

It's the writer's job to make the piece accessible, even to those who aren't aware of the other source material. If you don't, you cut away the vast majority of plausible audience, and I'm assuming also won't do very well in the competition.

There is other problem (at least for judges) with crossovers that have stories you are not familiar with - spoilers for any future reading of them you may do.

Also - do ideas crossovers count? For example - Harry Potter using Inception plot devices without any mention of characters from the movie.

I've got the same question. Do you have to use actual characters for it to be a crossover, or can you use themes/plot ideas/etc?

Rymrock, if you think of submitting an entry, I'd like to remind you of a crossover you never quite finished... (but don't let that discourage you from making an entry, a crossover from you would be awesome).

Anyway, I'd like to judge as well.

I really, really wished this category was announced at the first of the month. Frankly, I'm in love with the idea that spawned in my mind minutes after seeing the category, but don't know if three weeks is enough to finish it.

Personally, I'm gonna go with no. That ... Falls more into the Fusion genre than it does Crossover. And remember the golden rule of Fusions: It involves faggishdancing and chants or earrings, so unless you are Vegeta and Goku, its highly, heavily hard gay.

Yeah, I think that issue is gonna be resolved this time around. I will personally see to it that at the deadline, the new category is out, even if I have to put a baby in an oven to do it! :D
