Just wait, you'll find your new favourite soon after that.

Besides, there's a lot of awesome stuff Robb does before then.

Errr do mention you're putting book spoilers before the spoiler tags. This is the tv show thread.

Could someone clear this up for me: how many soldiers does Robb have? At episode 8 there was something about 50,000 I think. Now they've been parroting that 20,000 after letting the spy go with that number. At first I thought that was simple mis-information but now I'm not sure anymore.

The 50,000 was mis-information for the Lanisters scout. Robb sent 2000 troops to face the main bulk of the Lanisters force whilst the rest of his troops crushed Jamie Lanister's army, taking him hostage so, excluding casualties from fighting Jamie's army, Robb has somewhere around 18,000 troops - To the best of my knowledge anyway (Another one who hasn't read the books, though I should get around to it this summer).

Lol at the rage at this episode. It shows just how bound people are by the formulas of story-telling nowadays. Well, at least if they didn't know what type of show they were watching they do now.

    And Robb ftw:

"If we do it your way Kingslayer, you'd win... we're not doing your way.

Alas poor Eddard, I knew him well.

And for the first time I actually felt sorry for someone spouting that "I am the Dragon!" shit. Poor Dany. I can't wait till she finds out she's responsible for Drogo's death.

I'm sure the scout was sent away with the number 20,000. If I recall correctly, Tywin mentioned in latest episode that there were 2000 men only instead of the 20,000 he was expecting.

Which further makes me wonder how many men does Robb have total. I'd guess they would have sent more scouts to count the men but they still seem to believe he has 20,000 total.

I don't recall anybody ever saying that the Starks had 50,000 men. 20,000 at the most.

It's the Lannisters who have 50,000 to 60,000 men. Jamie had 30,000 sieging Riverrun, and Tywin probably had around the same at Green Fork.

Even in the books Robb never had that many men, at least not at this point. iirc, in the book he sent 12,000 foot under Roose Bolton against Tywin and took 5,000 horse against Jamie (who had around 15,000 total, with about a fifth of that being horse.)

EDIT to add: I think that before the spy was captured, they were talking about having around 18,000 were they not? Of course they now also had some Frey men join up so they may be at around 20,000 or more.

    And another thing...

Is it ever noted that Bolton commanded the men who went against Tywin? Just wondering what they're going to do with him as he plays a bit of a part later on.

I rewatched episode 8 now, and found the part I had in mind. It was 18,000 actually (Was said at the part where Catelyn enters the camp and requests to speak alone to Robb).

    My bad.

    Edit:
    Yes that was the part.

Also, if GoT wiki is to be believed, House Frey can raise up to 4,000 men so that should put his forces over 20,000 again.

As for who to root for...I cheer on Jon Snow, Tyrion, and Arya. Also; I'm a huge fan of Bran.

Bran might have been one of my favorites, along with Jon and Tyrion, in the books, but I really don't like his actor so that dampens my enthusiasm for him some in the show.

Dunno if you read the books or not Audeamus, but thanks for the information on the numbers. So hard not to add anything else here.

I'm off to watch Episode 9 now.

Edit: I went and found a quote from the books about how strong Robb's force is. I was curious and thought the rest of you might be interested, given the recent turn in conversation. This conversation takes place when Catelyn reaches Robb's army and is speaking with him alone.

Another guy addressed this above but people are not getting it so I am gonna say it again,

THIS IS THE TV SHOW THREAD.

WHEN YOU PUT A SPOILER TAGS PEOPLE THINK IT IS SPOILER FOR THE LATEST EPISODE.

STOP POSTING SPOILERS FOR THE FUCKING BOOKS OR SPECIFY SO BEFOREHAND.

    KTHXBAI.

It's not that I don't understand where you're coming from. Still, you could just read the books instead of capslock'ing and purposelessly raging. Just sayin'.

I say my regular posts in spoiler tags now. Spoiler tags are cool.

Yeah, he's expected to read about 4 thousand pages before he can come talk about the show.

I'm not saying I haven't done it, but that was before we had a book thread.

Not to start a fight, but we had a book thread before, you know. There's just two of them now.

Hmm... Are you sure it wasn't this thread that was then used for both. Because I remember this being a book thread before news of the TV series started coming out and someone declared it should be used for both.

Maybe they were merged before I arrived? Meh.

On another note I can't wait for the finale, the delicious fan rage can only get worse.

Naked!EmiliaClarke with three dragons will be epic and naked.
