I have a NAS with 10TB of storage space, but that's just storage space. When I was going to college I got the bright idea of buying a laptop so I could game on the go. At the time it was pretty much the best you could buy.

These days not so much, and since it already runs very hot, I date not try and upgrade the video card. I'm going to buy a new desktop soon, but until then I stick with my old laptop.

 

Because if you're using FRAPS to record, then you likely suffer stutters because you are recording to the same HDD that you are playing the game from.

If you record to a different HDD, it will become smoother, and you can thus use higher settings in games.

 

I record to the NAS and not on my install HDD.

It's just the fact that my video card & CPU are rather old these days.

It's sad how fast technology ages, seems like just yesterday I was laughing at my friends for having less than 120 fps.

 

You record to NAS via what connection? USB or 100 Mbps network or...?

 

Yeah, I actually had to turn down the settings on my SC2 because it lagged a bit at the start (and whenever something was going on). Technology ages fast.

 

I don't know, guys. SC2 isn't that demanding on hardware unlike couple other games. I have a GTX260 which I bought 3 years ago... still maxes SC2 like a champ.

JohnthePyro, I understand, since he's on a laptop. But desktop fellas? Upgrade your computer, lol. It's not that hard.

When I record it's via eSata (because my NAS is literally 2 inches from my laptop dock where I plug it into my bigscreen TV and sound system, I can switch from the network to eSata quickly).

My lappy specs fyi are 3.2ghz intel dual core, Nvidia GTX 260m, and 4GB DD2 ram.

 

I'm running two 8800GTs on SLI (should have just bought a single better card, but eh, hindsight).

This is odd, because you really shouldn't have a problem maxing out SC2 on a single 8800GT. Hell, SLI 8800 is roughly equal to GTX260, so... it sounds like SLI isn't working properly. Do you have the SLI profile installed for SC2?

Also... 3.2 Ghz C2D processor in a laptop? lol.
