    How would an HP MMO even work?

    Hmm.. chargen you choose what.. male/female pureblood/halfblood/muggleborn and dick around with anime hairstyles straight out of ff.net.

    Tutorial section is shopping in diagon alley and the hogwarts express, finished off with choosing your faction/house.

    Solo grinding is done in the library, classes are the group leveling content.

    Graduation is level cap, N.E.W.Ts are attunement for the end game content of getting a job.


    Sounds fun to me.

    Am I the only one wondering at the name? I mean seriously, 'Pottermore'? What the hell is that?

    Hopefully it's only a working name. You'd have to hope the author of Harry Potter (or whoever is behind this) would have a little bit of imagination.

    That aside, my money is on an MMO. A social site wouldn't make all that much sense when the books are over, and the movies are about to be finished to. Perhaps after the fandom is further expanded.

    Edit: I actually just read elsewhere that some people thought Pottermore stood for Potter Massively Online Role-playing Experience. It's plausible, backs up my guess and answers my question about the strange name. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

    You know, I would play an HP mmo. I've been waiting for a good HP video game, but there hasn't been any. Chances are, it's going to be shit. But one could hope.

    Being able to chose your own path, experiment with the dark arts, become enchanted by power, rise up and conquer, that would be bad ass.

    You'll have to forgive me for placing too much faith in JKR, then. I simply can't fathom why anyone would name something so ridiculously. I suppose I was just looking for an ulterior reason behind an otherwise stupid name.

    The worst thing that could happen is JKR writing a alternate book for 6th year including all the fucking cliches in the fanfiction.

    I was just thinking this the other day. I could see a great HP mmo with elements of TES and/or Fallout. Now, experimenting with the dark arts would be bloody awesome.

    There's now a link, which leads here. Did anyone do the collect letters in StreetView thing? Rowling gave ten sets of coordinates to various HP sites all over the world before the new site was official, which, if put into a special version of StreetView, led to the letters of "PotterMore".

    I didn't check for the letters, but since it said "magical places", I was hoping for locations of various Canon stuff. Which was not the case, as it turned out there were a few known ones, and lots of seemingly random ones, like Toyohashi in Japan or The Middle Of Fucking Nowhere, South Africa :|

    I didn't say it didn't make sense, I said it was seemingly random. I can't remember anything in Canon and the extra books that talked about those places (with the obvious exceptions of Salem, King's Cross, Wollongong and the Forest of Dean), so I dunno what they are supposed to be, that was my point :p
