I think you've forgotten just how bad the Aizen conflict was.

 

I really haven't.

 

I'm starting to think some entity will come and erase Ichigo's existence in the end of the series. That guy get's a power up and double his powers every couple weeks, can you imagine what if he lived a couple centuries as a shinigami?

 

When Ichigo finally dies and becomes a "real" shinigami, he may have to start from scratch like everyone else too and work his way up again.

Or they immediately make him captain xD

Speaking of which, does anyone know good Bleach fanfiction? Besides "Hammered Down", I mean.

 

I've found This to be a sufficiently enjoyable time-sink, for the most part.

 

Trippy ass chapter this week, folks.

AND THE PLOT ACTUALLY THICKENS.

"But Lutris!" you say, "What plot do you mean? It's Bleach!"

And to this I answer,

"IT'S SOME MOTHERFUCKING PLOT THIS TIME."

But yeah. It's a nice change of pace from the last few weeks, if nothing else. Look forward to the release in a few hours guys (for once).

So memories, or reality?

Is anyone else getting the feeling that we just lost one mind-controlling power-tripper and gained another?

 

This has a potential to be a nice psychological story, where Ichigo is the only one who knows the truth and his friends are thinking he has gone mad. The next step is to take it to extreme and make Ichigo doubt what is a reality and what may be just his delusions, including his time as Shinigami.

But this is Bleach, so in the next chapter we will probably see another "let's see which one of us has more power-ups" battle.

 

His power is pretty crazy, it alters memories methinks.

 

This is just a different way of doing Aizen's power.

Aizen makes people change how they view the present to be how he wants it, this new guy makes people change how they viewed the past to be how he wants it.

I'm liking that there's something new-ish in the direction that Bleach is going, but I feel as though this isn't going to be a personally satisfying arc.

 

Haven't you heard? Bleach doesn't have arcs, it has cycles. I know the .gif is in here somewhere...

 

Now the question is: does he want to take over the universe and make it a better place, or does he have something more nefarious in mind?

 

Maybe he just wants to make friends?

It's not his fault he's a crazy guy and the only way he can make friends is mindfucking people into remembering him.

 

So he alters the past, not memories? The fuck thats a bit overpowered IMO

 

I'd like to make it clear that what he does is insert himself into a target's life, as perceived by the target.

That is to say, he alters the past... for all intents and purposes.

He doesn't affect their memories or perception directly, but merely changes their personal past to accommodate his presence. It's a mindfuck, to be sure.

Anyway, what I'm saying is that the nuance is subtle, which is why you need good translators.

I always figured Aizen's Bankai would be something like this.

While the fullbring suggests how Xcution was originally formed (-> by mindfucking people into believing they have been following him in the first place) I have been hoping to see trollface!Aizen appearing talking about awesome his bankai is ever he started mutating.

Well, maybe not. Aizen was broken as fuck from the get-go. Maybe this guy is for the better, after all.

 

I am slightly annoyed by this. The trend of villains manipulating other characters is getting too much. At least Kariya in the anime was tough on his own, without needing to use his powers to get friends. Muramasa, also from the anime, used a similar technique on swords to gain allies. And Aizen's mind fuck technique, as well. Why can't a major villain just be really strong?

Grimmjow and Ulquorria were the best fights of the series, because instead of all this cockamamie manipulation bullshit, we actually had some good conflicts. Its not even smart manipulation, its always some cheap power that makes it so easy. I bet the fight for this arc will also be pitiful. I know everyone complains about how Bleach is just a series of fights constantly, but thats because Kubo can't write good drama and can't think of non-fighting plot points.

We do know what he does well, and that is making his characters creatively beat the shit out of each other. I want more of that.
