Hm? You've already mentioned you plan on seeing it, so it must meet some standard you have. Take some enjoyment where you can, eh? I'm with you about the cost, but I'm sure I've already seen worse movies that spun out of control.
BTW, what movie theater has 20 tickets? That's like the 3D Imax price up here. A normal screen will be good enough for me, thanks.

I'm sure most people here read LotR as a child or had it read to them; if you hold everything against that, only a small percentage of literature will be able to meet your inner child's standards. This one wonders how you get through most fanfiction.

Eh, I go to the movies to really enjoy myself, that means popcorn and a drink, which add anywhere from 7 to 11 dollars for the price of the night.

As to fanfiction? I read very little that doesn't come well recommended or off of a very good author's page. I'm not the sort to add in my favorite pairing and genre then hit the 'search' button and go fic-diving.

I just end up angry and disappointed with the state of education in my home country, because that's where the worst grammar and spelling tends to come from.

Eh, all I meant to imply is that even as a child I had some standards of intelligence and continuity in a serious story like HP is, and that the various changes made to said story do not meet those.

2.5/3 hour battle scene... sounds fun.

    Fucking awesome.

The moment with Lily means the flashback of Godric Hollow scene might still happen, and it reminded me a little of Superman to be honest, might be just me.

The issue I have, wether it was intentional and they're going to bastardize Snape's character, instead of sounding angry when he said "We've kept him alive to die at the proper moment." it seemed more like a statement of fact rather than realization.

    The fight scene looks awesome.

I reckon there will be about a ten minute introduction at Shell Cottage, Gringotts for thirty minutes-ish, and then they'll have the rest be the Battle of Hogwarts...

I heard this is supposed to be the shortest HP movie yet - approximately 130 min.

At least it won't drag on. OotP is my favourite book of the series, and as it was the shortest movie (I think) it was quite a good watch. Hopefully the same with this. Also, I'm looking forward to the Battle of Hogwarts.

A quick wikisearch shows that you're right. Up till now OotP was the shortest film. The longest one is (something I find surprising) CoS.

Longest and worst. To be fair though, the first two (books and films) are actually aimed almost exclusively at kids.

The reason the first two were so long was because they were so faithful to the books. Later instalments really took liberties.

And omitted the best parts entirely.

  14. Cool effects, awesome fight scenes, but I won't be watching this for the same reason I couldn't make it all the way through POA. The casting of the Marauder era adults drives me batshit, and don't get me started on the Muggle school uniforms, Purebloods in jeans ect.. ect.. Yup, the details kill it for me.

The Death Eater artillery barrage looks pretty cool.

I went to the movies today, and saw the trailer on the big screen. Yeah, yeah, I'm not a fan of the movies, but let me just say...

I got chills. The pure epicness of Hogwarts burning & spells flying was just mesmerizing. So, visually, at least, the movie will be awesome. I'm actually quite excited now. :3

Of the many faults the movies have, the one that sticks out to me the most is how old the actors playing Lily and James are. I can understand the older actors for Sirius and Remus, and both Oldman and Thewlis have done brilliantly in my opinion. They had over a decade of hard living.

James and Lily were supposed to be 21 when they died. I feel that them being so young compounds the tragedy of their deaths, and having them played by older actors takes away from that.

I agree with you on one point there.

Although I doubt this could be a reason they thought of, it's something I thought when watching the older actors is that the stress of the war itself aged them with age lines, grey hair, etc...

Of course, there is also the fact that wizards live much longer than muggles and don't visibly age as quickly. This only makes the older actors seem even more stupid.
