    Also try spacing.

On another note, my two cents on the tournament. I believe Harry will take the Durmstrang spot in the competition and the task will stay at least partly canon.

@Luckylee: Probably just an idiot, but it doesn't matter.

I didn't think about Phoenix tears in this context before, but there's only one instance in the canon where they were used: in CoS. Dumbledore never offered them to Moody, or even Hermione after events in DoM in OotP.

I doubt Dumbledore could have offered them even if he'd wanted to. I always got the feeling that Fawks choose to give them and Dumbledore had no say he in - though he most definately guessed that Fawks would if it came to that. Though it could be argued that Dumbledore asked Fawks to help Harry because he needed Harry alive in order for him to defeat Voldemort.

I actually find it entertaining, if only for the poor Dumbledore characterisations.

If Ron suddenly gets a pat rat that's missing a toe, and no one notices anything, I wonder if Harry would just ragequit relations with his family.

When Harry and Calypso are in their twenties, gestational surrogacy will be quite common in the muggle world. If old-school pureblood healers like Lady Shluga can't help them, maybe Lily the muggleborn mom can offer this option. The child will be 100% genetically the same as with a normal pregnancy, no one will ever know after its birth. I don't think Rosier would mind, as long as it was genetically his grandchild. This might help heal the rift between Harry and his parents. Though I suspect it can only happen in the afterword of the story, so we have a long way to go.

Who says there is going to be rift between Harry and his parents? That's like saying because Harry is going to be a dark wizard that means he is going to be evil or try to take over the world. This could just be the Santi's vision of what could have been had Albus Dumbledore not been afraid that he was too weak to resist his darker urges.

Remember, there is a difference between dark magic and holy fuck you did something that the Black family considers to be too dark. Voldemort went around the bend, and tampered with magics that were best left alone. There was a reason no one else used horcruxes to become immortal. It's because purebloods have more sense than to do something so fundamentally idiotic.

Also, I would hope that their would be a magical equivalent to anything a muggle could produce. Magic should be superior in every way imo.

What if her ovaries were destroyed and haven't regenerated yet?

What if her eggs are in some way dead?

Assuming that muggle science can best magic is counterproductive in a fic about magic. I think there should be a reason wizards hide their power from the muggle world. And besides, common sense could dictate that with magic surrogate mothers appeared in the 1600 ... BC.

There have been some ridiculous discussions in this topic, but can we please not go down the path of magical gynecology?

Most of the readers assume the Potters, who are more like the Weasleys in this story than uber!aurors of fanon, are not going to agree with many of the protagonist's choices. Of course the protagonist is going to fight against Volemort and help his brother, so his parents should be ok with him, but we don't know how close they will be when all is said and done.

That's magical thinking. Depending on how deep the JKR rabbit hole Santi wants to go, rationally you can't pretend the exponential growth of science and technology since the enlightenment is meaningless. Look at the population numbers. Look at R&D budget as fraction of GDP. Look at R&D directions in the 20th century. How many man-years worth of research into biology has the magical world done in the last two hundred years, compared to the muggle world? Even if muggle methods are less efficient, the muggles have definitely done more research in biology.

Do wizards know how cells work, on the biochemistry level? Have they done the human genome project? Have they cloned animals? Have they done IVF? Have they created an embryo with mitochondrial DNA not from the mother? If they had invented safe artificial uterus, we would have known about it. The muggles are headed there for animal husbandry purposes in a decade or two max. Can wizards grow replacement organs from your DNA and switch them into your body? If so, Calypso would be healed by now. Do wizards even have paternity testing? If they had birth control and paternity testing for a long time, they would not have a Victorian attitude towards premarital sex because it would not impact population or inheritance (think what the pill and DNA testing have done to society and consider whether the magical world makes sense or is just old fashioned and quirky because JKR was whimsical).

Anyway, if magic was as awesome as you imagine, the wizarding world would not be in the kind of mess the canon describes. And if they don't have televisions and have never been to the moon and the Weasleys can be poor while breaking the second law of thermodynamics, then magic is not as awesome as you imagine. They die young (see Black family tree), they can't fix the problem of squibs*, they only have one child in a time of war (Malfoys, for example, but lots of other families), they can't fix moody's leg, they sometimes can't clothe their children.

    EDIT:
Ok. Just that, in order to create conflict and for actions to have lasting consequences, you can't declare that magic can magically fix everything. This is the reason you can't resurrect the dead and heal Lycanthropy etc. So magic must have limitations for story purposes. If the limitation is one that can be overcome using today's muggle science, it looks weird.

This is a trap that authors with college education should not fall into. Also, when you fix something using the Star Trek method of subatomic-particle-of-the-week, it's lame and the audience notices.

BTW, if yo're not into magical gynecology, would like to consider magical virtual reality porn? A Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes Patented Daydream Charm, loaded with an augmented 3D model of a celebrity of your choice. If they're reusable, I don't think any homework is ever going to get done.

EDIT2: * - by "the problem with squibs" I mean that a wizard and witch couple who want to have a magical child sometimes have a non-magical child. If wizards had genetic engineering, this would never happen. Same thing with the sex of the baby, etc. Since squibs exist, we must conclude that either wizards don't have genetic engineering or it's too expensive for some couples.

Why hello there! I hope I don't get ninja'd because I'm going to rape this so fucking hard. The simple answer is that the reason magic has limits is that magical damage was done not muggle damage. Some dark magic can't be reversed/healed. There are ways for wizards to become immortal such as the Philosopher's Stone.

"She will recover, but having to repair and grow back internal organs is not as simple as replacing a bone or rebuilding a muscle. It is a very dangerous process, involving dozens of potions, some of which are very difficult to brew, making acquiring them difficult."-The Santi chapter 6 Durmstrang Spring Part 3

So, we already know where the Santi stands.

Moody's leg was dark magic related most likely. Also, Voldemort was able to create a functioning hand when it was just cut off normally, and we know they can regrow bones and apparently replace eyes. There is no canon proof that wizard's haven't gone to the moon and beyond. Having a television isn't exactly a sign of being advanced either. For all you know, they could have an equivalent and you just don't know about it because it isn't mentioned. (Actually JKR mentioned in an interview that wizards have better ways of doing pretty much everything, but since it isn't from the books I won't go with that cheap shot.)

A squib doesn't have magic. This isn't a problem in the traditional sense. You either have magic or you don't. If they could fix squibs they can fix muggles too. It has been heavily implied in canon that part of the reason wizards hide is because they don't want to deal with fixing muggle problems.

Having one kid and dying young...Really? Because that must be the case. It isn't like the Weasley family has a lot of kids all the time or that there was a little think call war that caused a lot of wizards to die too young...Oh wait, there was. They live a hell of a lot longer than muggles. We've seen several examples of ridiculously old wizards/witches. I'm going to stop here. If you want to continue this then PM. Before my computer crashed I had around 100,000 words written analyzing canon.

I can go back and get quotes a PM you explaining to you in nauseating detail why you fail at canon. You make wild assumptions about facts that we don't have about the wizarding world to found most of your arguments here. I'm not going to turn this into a muggle vs magic thread though. It's late so I may have stated something incorrectly here so if you need clarification PM me.

Now, why don't we all get back to discussing things that are actually relevant to this story instead of taking a one off comment that I now regret saying and trying to turn this thread into something it isn't.

    Edit:
tl;dr: Wizards may not suffer from most muggle problems, but they also have to deal with magical problems which are often times far worse.

I support the idea of Harry making a philosophers stone and living with calypso without any children. But it somehow seems cliche to me.

I just finished reading this last chapter.

Finally we may know why Calypso and Krum had not worried too much about the cause of the new compartment Harry was in detention with Ivan Dutov.

Also the fact that Harry finally confessed to Calypso, as well as for the first time, Harry made an unforgivable curse.

On the mysterious Calypso's illness, I tend to think it is a diseasel that prevents you from being fertile at maturity, although I think this will be resolved much later, without resorting to Muggle technology. I believe that Calypso will happen as James' parents, which took a long time to have a baby.

On future chapters will be very interesting as the relationship develops between the twins Potter, considering that Nathan believes he has killed the traitor Wormtail (personally, I think Wormtail's goal was to believe all that he had been killed by Nathan because that way he could go safely to Albania, where Lord Voldemort is hidden) and the list of dark spells the teacher gave Harry after the exam.

    EDIT:

I had a lapsus. Sorry. My mistake was quoted by Cruentus has been corrected.
