Meh, I doubt rage and adrenaline would have that large an effect in a magical duel not dependent on physical contact. Maybe she gets a bit more focus, or is a bit more reckless and aggressive but that's about it.

I mainly give it to surprise. Like it's been mentioned before that curse read like the AK. Bellatrix may have had Molly figured, she may have even cast a shield, but her preconceptions of just how far Molly was willing to go may have fucked her. It wouldn't be the first time a baddy was caught off guard because the heroes used some unsavory tactics.

    /conjecture.

    EDIT:
Voldemort and Dumbledore were born poor sure, but we have proof that they worked their fucking tails off in school and earned their power. Whatever side you fall on the whole natural talent/ schooling side of the magical debate they worked hard to hone their skills.

And beside what I think he meant was that wizards like Dumbledore and Voldemort, despite their humble origins rose to greatness (well, in Dumbledore's case he pissed it away). This may be exceedingly common (I think it wouldn't be, no matter how JKR tried to paint the society) but in a place where talent counts Molly could have forged something of herself.

Or maybe she was the next Merlin and decided she like baking pies and living in a house smaller than a port-a-potty better...

So we're in agreement then? Being poor makes you powerful in Harry Potter verse.

I don't think Molly used the Killing Curse. The narrative says that her face showed a moment of surprise after she had gotten hit. I thought the Killing Curse was supposed to kill so fast that there wouldn't be time to realize you'd died?

Then again, maybe that's just a fanon convention/theory.

If it wasn't the Killing Curse, that means that Molly got through any shielding of Bellatrix, or that Bella didn't have a shield at all at that point. I'd bet the latter - Bella was too busy laughing hysterically to bother with a shield against that fat housewife. (Yep, that's right - "Black laughing curse" again, for the win).

Here's the next victim of the Black laughing curse:

If it worked that way in the real world, I'd be picking out designs with which to brand my followers by now. :(

Too lazy to check, but that sounds like a couple of Killing Curse deaths.

Molly cooks, right? Maybe she just conjured a muffin inside of Bellatrix's heart.

Just a thought, but it's entirely possible that Bellatrix realised what it was a split second before it hit her, enough time for the expression of surprise but not enough time for a reaction like dodging. Then the curse hits her and she dies, leaving her face still showing the expression of surprise.

Magic doesn't give a shit how wealthy you are, or what your aspirations are, or what your personality is like. The HP-verse is a curious little world where spineless syncophants can perform the animagus transformation, bumbling morons can cast flawless Memory Charms, and abused witches with no real training can brew near-perfect Love potions.

Molly Weasley slings magic better than Bellatrix. It's a bitter pill to swallow.

Also, I forgot about some other paupers: Snape and Lupin. Sucked at magic, they did.

The fact that JKR sucks at economics in no way implies that Molly Weasely is a more talented duelist than Bellatrix Lestrange. Surely there would have been a scenario before this in which she had engaged in combat.. for example, the rescue from the DoM? Especially since her son and daughter were in danger?

I was never arguing that people with magical skill were born rich. Just that people with magical skill succeeded in Wizarding society. Dumbledore, Voldemort and even arguably, Snape all came from humble backgrounds and managed to make something of themselves, because of their talent. Why couldn't Molly?

I have no problem with her beating Bellatrix because I feel that it was because her opponent was being an arrogant cunt, does that mean I have to accept Molly as some sort of skilled duelist? No. No more than I have to do the same for Harry.

    This.

Mad trolling that I can't believe anyone is buying from JBlaise. If such an approach to determining who was talented was applied across the board, perhaps David Tyree would still be playing football as opposed to being slammed for being a homophobe.

If only indeed: I wish I could affect somebody's abilities just by saying that (based on my observations) said person shouldn't have those abilities.

Because I would verbally be all over Tom Penishead Brady's shit.

I've read DH exactly once, and that was 4 years ago now, but I seem to recall Harry's sacrifice giving everyone in Hogwarts immunity from Voldemort and the Death Eaters' spells. Which is a lot more probable than Molly being an amazingly skilled duellist. <_<

I thought that it just gave everyone immunity from Voldemort...

Honestly, while I dislike Molly, I was expecting either her or Arthur to atleast be fairly reasonably talented. They were both order members, and seemed to be respected, so they must have something to offer it. Molly's brothers were apparently brilliant, so it stands to reason she could've been aswell, and also the fact that most of their kids are talented... while I don't like Molly, I atleast understand how she could beat Bellatrix- It looks like the movie is going about it in a believable way from the spoilers.

She uses a AK on Bellatrix.

If that hasn't already been said, which it probably has.

lol, I can't stop laughing at your use of the spoiler tags...hilarious.

Now thinking of entering into the Politics monthly contest with a story where Molly is actually the real person pulling all the strings in the ministry and her usual persona is just a facade.

which is funny because I'm pretty sure that violates the only one known in canon of Gamp's five laws, which started this whole clusterfuck of a thread anyway.
