Hello. I'm just wondering if anyone has come across any decent Post-DH Harry/Hermione fics that disregard the epilogue (preferrably no oneshots) and is not a "19 years later" fic. Does anyone in here have any favorites they would be willing to share?

I've made numerable attempts to force down "Harry Potter and the Story by Dad" with 2000+ reviews, but I just cannot go along with it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

Coming Back Late is decent, if that's what you're looking for. It's a bit of a mystery/political story as well, and the writing is fairly decent. It's not completed though, and the "full" version is only on Portkey - the FFN version is still being updated.

 

You'll soon come to learn that review counts do not have an inverse correlation to the quality of the fic, if you just look at ff.net. Here it's more a sign of quality, but we're kinda on the picky side.

I'll browse around for some good fics to rec and update later.

 

I used to read a lot of post-dh stories when I first started reading fanfiction, mostly because I wanted to read what happened after I finished book 7. I don't have any bookmarks from that stage in my readings, but it's probably a lot easier to find stuff like that on hpff. I'd suggest you check out chem prof, if you haven't yet. He, or so I think, writes HP/HG only, and I have read a couple of them that were post-DH without the epilogue.

 

He also happens to be on staff of a C2 for Harry-Hermione fics.

Beyond that, you could always look through the Library for Harry/Hermione tags.

If that don't lead you to your particular twitch, you are un-help-able.

I did one that has some time travel in it as well. Not sure if it's quite what you're after, though...

 

As Yet Untitled by bellerophon30, iirc the author's handle. Probably one of the best post-DH HHr fics, and it's complete. Not sappy, no bashing, no "one true love" shit.

Chem prof gets fucking old with the same plot, which almost always involves endless boring training, beach holidays where Harry comes to appreciate hermione in a bikini, and far too much of hermione's parents. They all read like a cliched checklist that goes on ten times too long.

 

I'm not very into oneshots or time travel, but I have to admit for a oneshot, you did a damn good job, sir.

Yeah, I did notice that all his stories seemed interconnected, and some in which he cannot choose which girl to pair Harry with. I'll definately look into bellerophon30's fic. Thanks for the referral.

Also, in my opinion, Portkey doesn't help me much personally when looking for HP/HG fics. The stories there are alright, but most of them lack length (100,000+ words) and many are abandoned. Eh...

 

The White Elixir was quite interesting a few years ago but was never completed.
It's an action/conspiracy/mystery story which starts with the canon pairings+kids but promised a H/HP future at the last parts.
Not sure about Ginny's motivation in this story which acted really weird. Maybe some kind of cheap bashing plot device or there was more behind it but that was never revealed because it didn't get much further. Anyway, worth a try.
