Actually, I'm not quite ready to accept Oak is dead just yet. That was very much portrayed from Elm's POV, so it leaves room for some sort of trickery.

 

Good chapter. Nothing like a good battle to re-ignite my enthusiasm for this fic. Not digging Elm as the total archvillain he's being portrayed as, but it's not much to complain about, I suppose.

/incoherent rage.

 

I don't think he's the ultimate Villain in this. Team Rocket kind of fell by the wayside, and I get the feeling that after the Johtoan army is defeated, they'll be back to fuck over Ash some more.

Then again, I'm really bad at calling plot points, so who knows.

 

I'm betting that Elm is also vastly underestimating Mewtwo.

 

To me it seems like Elm doesn't really know that Mewtwo is a pokemon. I'd be willing to bet that Mewtwo has been communicating with Elm like he has been with Ash, so Elm just assumed he's a human who has found a way to communicate telepathically over large distances.

Seriously, the only thing wrong with this story is that there is no Gary Oak.

Ash: Finally, I killed Elm, confronted my father, and had a foursome with Janine, May, and Dawn. I'm exhausted.

Gary: Now you fight me!

I'm willing to be that Oak's beefed up power armor that he was wearing prevented his death. Even still, with pretty much all of his pokemon dead, Oak seems to be pretty much taken out of the equation.

Also, Alakazam is a boss.

 

Can anyone say EPIC? Damn fine chapter.

Ash and May teaming up on Elm was boss. But fuck if Snorlax wasn't awesome.

Next chapter should be interesting, especially with that little introduction at the end there.

Is this the end of the second arc? I can see there being a timeskip after this chapter as well.

 

Wow. This last chapter was amazing. And what a twist to end it!

 

I'm impressed with Oz's portion of the fight; how the heck did he get so good at tactics?

 

Beast of a chapter. This fic is picking up again, I feel.

This fic confused me. I enjoyed the earlier chapters a lot more then the second half of the story (I read through the whole thing for the first time last week, and just read the new chapter just now).

The story just seems very inconsistent to me. I still don't know what the deal with Sabrina was. I thought she was kidnapped by Team Rocket to control the Zapdos to power the powerplant, at least that's what I thought I read, but when she is 'rescued' she acts like nothing happened, despite the people at her gym rejoicing in her return.

And the Elm shit was just annoying. He used what, 12, 15 pokemon? 4 of which had to be multiteamed to kill. It just seemed everything was off balance, not numerically wise, but disproportionally to what was written and what actually happened. The only fight scene I actually liked in the last chapter was charizard melting steelix. I don't like how the gyarados took out two extremely well trained dragonite + Claire, yet gets killed by a newborn snorlax.

The end scene wasn't a twist, not really. We learned Giovanni was Ash's father a few chapters back. I still don't know what the deal is with Team Rocket. It seems like every other chapter they go from saints to sinners, but the one constant was jesse/james trying to kill Ash. None of it makes sense, and the Deus ex Mewtwo isn't helping either.

Still, a great story to read, if frustrating at times. I just wish it was more consistent with its portrayals.

That fight was the one I was waiting the entire fucking story for. Total curb stomp.

I can just see Ash standing there, covered in Salamance blood, directing his pokemans to whoop ass. Then looking up and saying, "Daddy?!"

 

Awesome chapter as usual I can't wait for more Mewtwo action, as well as Lance's reaction to the situation.
