Just saw a post on Butchers forums about a site that apparently sells ebook version in ePub format right now. There are apparently programs to convert this to kindle format too.

I think ill just wait and get it from amazon but if anyone wants the ebook a bit early, there you go.

 

Just thought id point out that if you're lucky enough to be in the UK, some waterstones may have this book already, as I got a copy of it today from Hampstead, You're welcome if you haven't pre-ordered.

 

This is a pre-order link. Actual release is the same as on Amazon.

 

Fail. Download link doesn't activate till 28th of July. Time to cancel and get a refund. If I have to wait that long I might as well buy it from amazon for $6 less.

EDIT: I take it back. Despite the site saying the link wouldn't activate until the 28th, I got an email with a download link.

DOUBLE EDIT: Wow. No. I take it back.. again? So when you buy, it say's 28th, you get an email saying, Download link available now, then you click the download link and now it says... Wait till 28th.

It worked for me 3 hours ago. The site may have been notified that they were selling copies too early.

 

I suppose i'll just put this here in case of any non believers...

Thats actually kind of odd.

I just checked and it still says "buy now". Second, the price for me atleast is $14.98 which is basically the same as amazon. And I can confirm that it did work a while back (I went back on my word and bought it from there anyway, the temptation was too much).

I did notice that the site has an audiobook version of Ghost Story that is available at July 26 and that costs $20. You sure you did not accidentally go to the audiobook page?

If not, maybe its somehow linked to your location. Maybe it is not available in Australia but is here in Europe/Finland. Dunno. I suppose you could try a proxy or something if you really wanted to.

Nah it's cool, it was worth a shot!

I emailed the store, and they replied within 5minutes saying that the release date for the ebook is the 28th, they also refunded my purchase on the spot.

So as someone mentioned above, it may have been a mistake that it was released so early. Either that, or it really is region blocked, and they saw from my credit card details I was in Australia, and told me the 28th due to that.

Also, for me at least, the ebook on amazon is $9.95, so Not $6 cheaper.. but $5 cheaper

 

Well, it was up there for a little bit. I bought it and downloaded it. Just finished power reading it. And all I can say is daaaamn.

 

Grrr. For me, amazon says $13.79. Probably the higher VAT here. Just out of curiosity, when does Amazon say its going to be released for you? The official release date for the book is 26th, not 28th. So even if they fixed it, it should be 26th rather than 28th that they told you. Unless Australia really does get a different release time for some bizarre reason.

 

The hard copy is released on the 26th in local stores and the ebook the 28th according to Amazon.

I guess Australia really does have an ebook release date 2 days later than Europe. Ouch. I guess thats why the original link does not work for you. I wonder what kind of crazy idea is behind that?

 

the thread on JB's forum now says the store linked above is being investigated by the publisher as they weren't authorised to sell early. Something like, only one store is authorised to sell early, and that's at some convention being held tomorrow?

I guess they don't know amazon and a couple other online stores are shipping hard cover copies already?

 

Yeah, this is how I got the book last night down here in Australia. It worked then. Had a 'Street Publication' date for the ebook of 20/07/11.

Doesn't seem to be an option anymore. This is also how I got Changes last year.
