    This is already available, just sort by rating (click on rating). The problem with it is that a lot of older works have extremely high ratings and don't live up to them. The obvious solution would be to get them reviewed more, but that's on us the members.

    I don't have the computer science savvy to contribute on a lot of the suggestions, but as for what I'd like, the ability to Ignore threads would be great. I have no interest in threads about manga and anime recommendations, for instance. I was out of town for a few days and when I checked back there were 124 threads with unread posts; after weeding out the ones I had no interest in, there were around 70 plus or minus.

    This may not be a nuisance to many people and if it's too complicated to make happen, then that's of course fine. However, the OP *did* ask for suggestions, and I'm not the first to bring this one up by a long shot.

    Now, a lot of the time I check out DLP on my phone, and the iPhone version just doesn't cut it for me so I end up zooming in and out on the "normal" version to read the threads. The problem mostly lies in the mobile version's lack of a "go to first new post" button. When you click on the ">" button in the iPhone version, you go to the last post in that thread, not the first unread one.

    Now, I'm not asking for the mobile skin to have all the bells and whistles of the Normal or Project DLP skins (Project DLP is my favorite by far), because in that case it would probably be unwieldy and therefore why even have a mobile version? No, what I'd like is an easy-to-tap "go to first unread post" button or icon or whatever they're called for touchscreens, and, in a perfect world, the name of the Forum in which the thread exists, such as "For Review" and "General Discussion" and "Sick and Perverse" etc.

    Oh, and one other thing I'd like for the regular skin versions as well as for the iPhone version, is a scroll bar on the side of the text box when you go to write a new reply. The lack of this makes writing a good post on a phone very difficult, especially if you try to add some quoted text from another reply. Again, this may seem minor to some but I can't imagine I'm the first person to try replying with a quote and finding it almost impossible to do effectively without a scroll bar to get back to another part of your reply that might be outside that initial window.

    I think that's ll I got for now. Thanks to the mods, etc. for requesting ideas and possible improvements. I <3 DLP...

    Concerning thread subscriptions: I'd like the ability to only get an email-notification when the author/OP posts. I like the fact that I instantly get an email when Nuhuh updates Blood Sack, but I don't need an additional one for every comment.

    I don't know if this is already possible or if somebody else already mentioned this.

    How about reorganizing the library and related threads according not only by name but by author.

    Basically already done, via author tags for each thread.

    I don't know if It's been posted before, since I haven't read the whole page, but I think this would be very easy to do.

    I propose putting a "Most Viewed Threads" and "Most Posted Threads" lists, some 5 entries long each, under the "What's Going On?" section on the main page. That should come in handy for lazy bastards such as myself.

    Most Viewed/Posted Daily might be alright. I've never been exposed to 'trending' online, but I can imagine it being a reasonably good idea.

    I'm probably going to get shouted down for this, but one thing that would involve programming would be expanding the "social networking" element of the boards.

    Though I suppose we already have walls to post on, friending abilities, groups, and photo uploads. Not sure what could be added there. Perhaps a kind of "Docs" function: the ability to write/upload documents and have them accessible/viewable from your profile. People could do it with stories, story notes, random bits of writing, etc.

    Also, if we wanted to go down that route, some kind of HP role playing element. To compete with Pottermore. Lots of people will shout "gay" but meh, I think it could be fun. I know I had far more fun that I should have had filling in my DLP info back when I joined (favourite subject, favourite spell, etc.).

    I don't know how difficult this is coding-wise or whether it's even possible, but I would really like a "Reveal Spoiler" button instead of the highlight to show. Don't get me wrong, that's fine on computers, but when I'm using a mobile device it doesn't work at all.

    If I really need to see it I'll highlight it then copy/paste into the quick reply box. So that's a trick you can use to read spoilers in the meantime, but it's far from optimal.

    You should try using Opera Mini. It works fine for me.

    And since I'm posting anyway, how about putting a tab on users profiles where authors who post in the WBA can put links to their threads? I know we already have the DLP Info tab where they can put a link to their profile but even with the DLP FFN theme WBA is still the best place to read a fic and this would make finding stories there a lot easier I think.

    Another way to do it would be to have the spoiler box be collapsible.

    Example.
    [IMG]
    [IMG]

    Code:
    <div style="margin: 5px;">
    <div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom: 2px;">
    <b>Spoiler!</b> <input value="Show" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: 45px; font-size: 10px;" onclick="if(this.parentNode.parentNode.getElements ByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display != 'inline'){ this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('d iv')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'inline'; this.innerText = ''; this.value = 'Hide'; }else{ this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('d iv')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.innerText = ''; this.value='Show'; }" type="button">
    </div>
    <div class="alt2" style="border: 1px inset ; padding: 6px;">
    <div class="spoiler" style="display: none;"></div>
    </div>
    </div>
    Taken from here.

    I second this especially the aspect and resolution ideas I was going to mention it myself it was about to bug me into trying to get the code put it in Notepad++ and bend it to my will.

    Also is it just me or is there... alot of clutter in the library I mean the vast majority while they may be good in someway are dead/abandoned or that's how it appears: there are few [complete] stories other than the [oneshots] I just found it odd is all.

    I however do understand preserving some of the good ones not finished by old members such as ip82 or Lord Ravenclaw's Time Travel Fic (I wonder if he ran out of ideas... makes me afraid for my own fictions oh well enough of that)

    Um I think it might make things simpler if subforums such as Time Travel or The Alternates were combined after all their descriptions and themselves seem inextricably linked to me but that's just my opinion. Either way maybe a change in the Library subforum structure to make filing easier and more accessible?

    I'll think of some more ideas though

    Perhaps we could have a system similar to Blizzard forums where you can jump to their gm's posts but for WBA and the library? That way we could easily find new chapters in those stories that are no locked to comment( like Santi's) or something the author said in their story thread.

    This may have already been mentioned, but I'd like to see a subforum for original writing discussion, as opposed to lumping everything in with fanfic discussion.

    I'd also like to see the books and anime subforum seperated. I can understand the overlap between books and manga, but it's a wholly different subculture.

    An idea that came to me while reading through some library threads:

    Show a breakdown of the votes by rating, rather than just an average. Something like this:

    [IMG]

    So you could see at a glance, for instance, whether a 3-star story got all 3-star reviews, or an even split of 1-star and 5-star reviews, etc.

    Apologies if this has already been suggested.

    I agree. A lot of stories on DLP tend to develop highly polarized opinions (The Alexandra Quick Series comes to mind). Like Rubicon said, it would be a nice addition for members to be able to see the vote split, as there's a big difference in story quality between something that earns only 3 star votes and something that's split like the AQ series.

    I usually just use the 'New Posts' function for viewing threads. The ability to 'x' out threads without viewing them first would be a godsend. When they really start to bug me, I just open them all in new tabs and close them without looking at them (because sometimes I just can't take seeing yet another anime/manga thread in New Posts).

    Anyway, a 'mark as read' function or something similar would really improve my browsing experience.

    There is, kind of. You can mark an entire sub-forum read (in your and my case, the Books and Anime Discussion sub-forum), but it requires you to open the threads you do want to read first.

    Observe:
    [IMG]

    Just double-click on a lit-up lightning bolt, and you've read that sub-forum. I've been doing it this way for years, but am ready for a change.

    I can has 'Ignore Thread/Sub-Forum' function plox?
