Ah, okay. That makes sense - cheers Sesc. I was actually just looking at the site trying to find where it said that.

Is anyone else confused by this:

What the hell is that supposed to mean? I obviously am completely misunderstanding Pottermore if there is no communication between members. I thought it was described as a sort of social networking?

I assume that's a restriction needed to allow children (people under 13) to access the site. Iirc it's a pain in the ass to fulfil American laws regulating it (i.e. the "Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act"). That's why sites like DLP, Fictionalley, etc, are usually rejecting children.

Fair enough - I always knew the site would have to be child friendly in the extreme, but I didn't realize Pottermore was essentially a solitary experience. I thought it was supposed to be a social sort of thing? I'm just trying to work out how they'd achieve that without "direct communication".

I think via message boards. Thus they are able to check the content. Perhaps they even need to approve every message before it is posted.

I imagine it'll be something about the House system. Apparently you get sorted, and can earn House points. So it'll be about working for the good of the House, just so happens you can't communication with your Housemates. About as much of a compromise as they could reasonably manage and keep it open to kids.

I can honestly say I'm more excited for this than the last movie.

Got my email. I have to concur with the previous post, I am unreasonably excited about this. I just know I'm going to end up disappointed.

So. I guess I'm not the only one that might or might not have made more than one account; in the end, there was so much confusion about the mails that didn't come, that it seemed prudent for that reason alone. My thought was this; how about we start trading? People that have more accounts than they need could give them to people who didn't get in, but still want to. I have one myself I could offer.

In any case, I made a group where we can organise everything and talk about it later once the Beta starts, I guess. Everyone who is in or wants in is free to join.

    Edit:
Just as a heads-up, there have been many reports from Yahoo-Mail users who didn't get their validation mail. I didn't get mine either. So if you still look to get in in the next days, you're probably better off picking a different mail provider.

Where does the clue show up every day? Just on the homepage?

And now I'm stuck waiting for the second Magical Quill... :facepalm

I'm honestly trying not to be that excited about this, but I think it will be interesting to say the least. If anyone sees the clue come up give a shout out. I'll be watching.

I'm also waiting for the second magical quill. What time did the first go up? So I know how long to stay up...

Yeah. In that box that now says it's over for today. It's a question regarding the books; the time when it shows up is undetermined. I'd say that one of the next will be more fitting for American users, though -- this one worked good in Australia and Europe, but it was in the middle of the night EST. I guess they will try to make it fair for everyone.

Btw: They changed the welcome message. It now says

    Congratulations!
You’ve successfully validated your early access
Pottermore account. You will be one of the
lucky few to shape the experience before the
site opens to all in October.

So that's definite. And because I'm absolutely not above gloating: You want to get in ... sorry, what's that?

There is definitely a social networking element with some form of interaction possible. The child protection policy mentions:

    and

So presumably a forum style format, with heavy moderation...oh the joy.

That really was to be expected. It will be a lot like GinnyPotter.

And the social networking part is the last thing which I am interested in. I suggest / assume that our discussions will take place somewhere on this site.

My plan: Get house points, get bitches.

Here's hoping this site is fun and has some content for us and not just the fangirls/children.

I would love an account if you or anyone else still has two. Due to work I can't really sit up through the night refreshing the site so if someone has an extra I will be forever indebted to you.

Will not be able to answer any PM's or such until tomorrow evening due to the fact that I'm moving to Norway (as part of the great DLP migration).

It's a bit weird to be so exited about a site that is primarily aimed at 12-14 year old girls but damn, I can't wait!

Check the Pottermore website, folks. From what I've read, the welcome message has changed to show whether you've actually been accepted.

If you've been accepted (like I have), you should see this.

    :awesome

    The page used to say:

Whether this change is actually a confirmation is being debated, but I'd like to believe that it means that I'm guaranteed a spot.

Lol, I actually got mine, after all, Blaise. It only took 12 short hours. Apparently lots of people complained to Yahoo. So don't give up the hope yet. Otherwise:

@Stenstyren: I'm sure you can get one. Join the Pottermore group, and we'll talk.

@Rehio: I almost think they changed that because they realised it wasn't clear enough. Their blog has this to say:
