Sixth Year was promising at the time, but I'm hesitant to try rereading it at this point. I had high hopes of it evolving from Harry/Many to HHr.

I really enjoyed the first one, despite the head-scratching elements of ballroom dancing, the OC black chick and Hermione driving around looking for Harry in Harry's Jeep and dreadlocked!Draco. I just couldn't muster the desire to read the second installment. If I hadn't been all about HHr at the time, I might not have finished the first one.

These four I'd LOVE to see completed. Especially Queens of Darkness and VULTUS SERPENTIS.

Backwards Compatible seemed to veer off into preachy!indy!Harry too much for me, though the concept had a LOT of potential.

And I thought From the Abyss was complete? Am I thinking of something else?

Harry F*ing Potter is just made of win. The only story featuring McLaggen where I didn't want him to be flayed alive.

I really need to read these, huh? >:-\

I'm gonna read that one now, and hope that it doesn't leave me hanging so much that I hate you, NW.

I'm telling you, Erised Burning wrote some fucked up shit. His Blessed was just a serious mind-fuck. If you haven't read it, take a couple hallucinogens and have your reality fucked over by that story.

The only one of these I knew anything about was All My Love To Long Ago. Now I'm jonesing for another BajaB fic, and the nonjon and Deadwoodpecker stories are just cruel to mention if there's nothing of them to read.

Heather has a lot of talent, if what I've read from her is any indication. Plus, I like to keep her avatar as my mental picture of the RL her. 8D

Even though the last installment of Escape to Darkness was disappointing (the parts from Lucius' POV went against everything we'd seen about him to that point), I'd really love to see more of that story. The mentor!Grindelwald was just kick-ass, and Harry was becoming a real bad-ass as a result.

    -----

I wouldn't mind a continuation or follow-up to Familiar Conversations.

That one was awesome. Harry torturing Draco in the Great Hall during Breakfast = WIN.

I actually have read it. Four times. And you're right, it is a mind fuck.

That scene was very good, but a lot of things bugged me about that story. Harry was so overpowered he shouldn't have had much difficulty in dealing with Riddle.

For that matter, he was foolish to publicly reveal his new abilities. He should have left his double in place at Hogwarts and began eliminating all Voldemort supporters. He knew most of their identities from his future knowledge, and no one would have suspected he was behind the killings if he had kept a low profile.

Meh, I didn't like the story. It felt like just another gore-fest. Let's watch Harry running around and being cruel for cruelties sake.

D'aww, that trilogy got me into fanfic. Waiting for the next HP installment, whichever one it was back then. That said, if it'd been finished, I probably wouldn't have gone on to read other fanfiction - it was a pleasant, diverting oddity, not something to be investigated further. It was waiting for updates to that which led me to other stories.

Anyway, despite holding up better than you'd think on a reread (it's still my favourite fanfic, ever), I couldn't wish it finished. Something cathartic about that godawful evil fucking cliffhanger.

    This thread makes me sad.

I actually just read this fic today and was mightily impressed with the tension he was able to write into the story. To be left the way it was, so near the ending, was a real letdown.

While undoubtedly true, the series just... stopped. Leaving us with a case of fanfiction blue-balls. I wanted to see an epic Harry vs. Harry battle when he finally got back and we never got it.

A non Harry centric fic but a great one was Seeing Grey by Iggy

Kind of an average re-read now but was amazing when I first found it back in the old days.

The author is Jon, obviously he didn't disappear. He just updates really, really, slowly. Possibly abandoned.

When I first started reading HP fanfics (which is approximately a year ago) I thought Champions was pretty awesome, and yay for Harry/Fleur!!1!
Now, though, it's so loaded with cliches it's not funny. :facepalm

Did the guy writing it die, or something? He/she just...vanished.

Maybe he realized the story he was writing was crap, then stopped.

I think Jorm was talking about Thief? The author is Aatwal (I think?) on this forum, and he's posted somewhat recently.
