Fuck this shit then. I'm not buying anymore of their products. And the DRM needing to be online 24/7? Fuck that, too. Blizzard is just making their game piratable. This company has been going down the toilet ever since they started creating WarCraft 3. Diablo 2 was their last best game. I really hope this company goes into the toilet too, with the shit they're spewing.

Woah, woah, woah, woah. Back the fuck up. Fuck your Diablo. Warcraft 3 has been the pinnacle of Blizzard success, and Diablo can go suck some Metzen dick.

I agree it has all gone downhill since WoW, but I still have some hope left for Diablo III and I won't pass judgement until I have seen beta stream, or played myself. Maybe it'll work miraculously at least I hope so.

I had such high expectations for this Game. Too bad Blizzard is now a money-hungry low quality company.

The pinnacle? Clearly, you haven't been around long enough. I don't doubt it's a great game but nowhere near the level of genre-defining awesomeness that is (was?) diablo.

Personally, and I have only seen a few people express this opinion on the Diablo 3 Forum, while I am not in favor of the RMAH as a matter of principle, quite frankly I know that it will not really affect me based upon my play style for Diablo. Things like online-play-only and the modified skill system, I have no real qualms with.
Also, while I dabbled with friends, and a little with public matches, I never really made use of Diablo too much if I really wanted to get some PvP game play in. Other games could satisfy my PvP desires much better.

For someone that primarily plays with an exclusive group of real life friends in password-protected games, the RMAH simply won't have any major effect. As long as the game play itself is solid and entertaining, I don't see why I would not enjoy this game just as much, if not more, than the previous ones.

Well, to each their own. I never really reconciled with some people's opinion that Diablo was, at its heart, a PvP game. If nothing else, than due to the fact that there are many games that I find more enjoyable for such an activity.

Truthfully the changes wouldn't affect me that much.

For the most (99%+) D2 was based on battle.net for me. And while the new skill system goes against most other games like that (more specifically, d2) it doesn't actually seem too bad in theory, in my opinion.

However that opinion is far overpowered by a really bad taste I got after reading the article. 'We don't want you single players having to start over, so we will just force you to play online 24/7' is the single most stupid excuse I have come across in a very, very long time.

I won't buy this. But that's more than just because of that article. The mix of the realID shit, the micro-transactions in games (now including D3), the retarded 'log on for achievements because you are playing as a guest' thing in SC2, it just adds up. Blizzard as a whole just seems less and less customer-friendly and therefore support-worthy as time goes on.

That pretty much killed my enthusiasm for this game.

Don't get me wrong. Being a company ensures that making money is your main goal and whining about that is a bit odd. So Blizzard is within its right to believe it'll gain more by acting like this than holding up the pretense of caring about customers for more than money - pretense it might have been but it ensured less dick moves on their part.

Just like customers have the right not to buy their stuff if they get pissed by obvious greed-inspired dick moves.

On a somewhat related note there's Torchlight 2 and Grim Dawn coming out. Didn't know about the latter before.

I've been planning to get it, but after reading all this, I guess I'll just pirate it, to see if it's any good. Now, Torchlight 2... That's something to look forward to.

I can't say about Diablo, but Warcraft 3 is a good game, and it sure as hell didn't show any quality decline in Blizzard's part. It was, in my opinion, an instant classic, and nearly as good as Starcraft.

I am of the opinion, however, that Warcraft 3 was their last good game. After it came WoW, and Blizzard took the cash cow route, never to return.

I feel like the inclusion of heroes shifted all the focus away from town-based strategy, which is what I loved about the Golden Age (TM) RTS's.

Meh. I played Diablo a couple of times when I was still new to gaming in general (in my day, people played outside!), but I never found it to be anything special.

True fact: First games to play was Pepsi-man.

    Because...

    Oh. You're one of them.

    XD

Anyways... The start of Blizzard's downfall? Activision bought and merged with Blizzard. For all of the protest, "No we're really still seperate" Its obvious when they are referred to as Activision Blizzard on the NASDAQ.

They have become one company. The Blizzard you knew back then in your nostaglia tinted SC1/Warcraft 3 years is no more.

It has been consumed by a company who's CEO has stated his goal is to milk game franchises for every. Last. Drop. (Guitar Hero/CoD)

And we've already seen it! SC2. Separated into 3 games. (Expansion pack my ass)

Diablo 3. Always on Internet(DRM though they claim its not. Pull the other one. It's got bells on it.) Real Money Auction house( Pay2win). Have I mentioned Always on Internet? Cause if you want to play it on a laptop on a plane or somewhere where the Internet is spotty. Well there are other games for that. Hell dont take my word for it.

Executive vice president of game design Rob Pardo
Well alright then. I guess I wont be buying your game. Or playing it.

As many others have said Pirates will simply work around it or disable it.

Ubisoft tried their always on shit with AC2 and SC: Conviction. The latter I bought. The formor I pirated.

The former: I never had any problems with connection. I never got booted out of a game because derp the server stopped responding. Why? because the pirates made a cracked/altered file that the game used to verify that it was talking to a real server.

The latter: The day I buy it. The day im expected to be able to play I cant play. Why? Well apparently Ubisoft's servers exploded.

    And continued to explode.

    For the next. 3 weeks.

After several patches I could finally play. Only to be booted out of the game once in a while because oh look the server stopped responding. Or network connection lost. Or some other bullshit.

So yeah. Good luck with your Always on Internet there Bliz.

    We knew ye well.

I can see what you're saying but I have to disagree. I think that they decided to conquer every aspect of the market, and Warcraft III was the perfect hybrid game. Diablo was their RPG, Starcraft their pure RTS, and Warcraft their in between. The problem with most town-based strategy games is that they're almost impossible to balance, and Blizzard was really focused on creating games that could become popular e-sports.

*starts cackling* HAHAHAHAHA! Excuse me while I laugh here. WarCraft 3? Sorry, but this game is sadly a sack of shit when it comes to the graphics. Yes, they were nice and shiny, but I can't stand games that look all shitty-cartoony. It was a poor development scheme on their part. This game was roughly started in production when the original creators of Diablo, SC, WarCraft 1 & 2, and Diablo 2 left the company and formed their new one that created Hellgate. After that, their company has since then began to float in the water bowl of a well-used toilet that hasn't been flushed since being used. The original Diablo was released in '96 (back when I was in 8th grade, I was 14), and it was the total shit back then, and to this day, I still consider it one of my most absolute favorite games to ever exist, even if I barely play it.

An example of that? StarCraft: Ghost, their ONLY try at a console game, and from what I've been told? They failed. This game I believe was created after Diablo 2 & and I think when WC3 was being created.

I played Diablo 2 on Bnet for years (up until roughly 2006) until all of those bullshit "item sell bots" flooded Battle.net and Blizzard absolutely refuses to even acknowledge their existence, even if those said item bots made players NOT want to play on Bnet since they were so god damn annoying. That just goes to show how much those assholes even care.

And SC2? Tried playing the Beta on a friend's machine. Their new units don't make it seem "StarCrafty" to me at all. I haven't bought a single product of theirs since roughly 2005 (seeing as I don't have an income myself, I can't), but even if I did have the money, they're not getting it either. These assholes are basically just turning into another Electronic Arts company, they're just garbage these days.

And from what I remember back in the day, StarCraft was pretty much made "Game of the Year" for I dunno, 4 or 5 years in a row? Though that's more probably "unofficially" than anything else, seeing as SC was a huge hit for almost 10 years. Diablo 2 was the same way, until those bogus item seller bots started flooding Battle.net and absolutely ruining the playing experience.

Edit: The only thing I liked about WarCraft 3 was their funny quotes they said when you clicked on them enough times. Everything else? In my opinion, it was a sack of crap that didn't gain my interest at all, except for the cool little movies they had between levels.

Well that's a matter of personal taste, not fact. We could go back and forth arguing about opinions and get nowhere.

And yet it still retained the status of their best franchise going forward. Doesn't seem that poor a development scheme. Also, just checked out Hellgate. I may have to get that.

I'd give the turd-float era to start with WOW, to be honest. Their pre-MMORPG games were all pretty enjoyable, even if Warcraft 3 was the best (with Starcraft a close second).

Blizzard's known for cancelling games not up to their level? Your point?

Starcraft was innovative. As was Diablo. And Warcraft. All three won awards. Hands-down though, WC is the best franchise.

*shrugs* Your opinion and I'll respect your right to one, even if it's blatantly wrong. WC3 was by far one of their best games, and I'd only give Starcaft as a potential challenger for #1 (barring the Hybrid saga and all it's idiocy).

Seriously, that's what your basing it off of? I guess that you must be one happy camper these days with all the games with excellent graphics and shitty games huh? Maybe the old producers did leave (I honestly don't know) but you can't say that that affected the game. Reign of Chaos was a bit unbalanced, that's true. But, The Frozen Throne came back and balanced everything well. There are still 80k+ people playing at nights, 10 years later. The only reason that it has gone downhill is that recently Blizzard has decided that they don't give a shit about it anymore and want people playing Starcraft 2 more.

But really, using graphics as the base for saying that it wasn't good?

P.S. Hash, Hellgate was fun for a bit, but then sucked.
