    Doesn't seem to be any reason to leave peace mode. At this early stage investing in military seems to be a complete waste. Inflation following early rapid nation growth will mean that within a few weeks even the largest current military will be tiny compared to what an average nation can casually buy without any serious effort.

    It seems to me that the best way to play is to focus on growth. If you focus on "stat building" you'll fall behind those who focused on growth who can then casually spend their income to stomp on you.

    Spending on military now just isn't going to give you any return on your investment, other than some pretty nation strength numbers to look at.

    True. But I've done effective incoming building while doing the cheap military build (just troops, nothing else), by using some underhanded means to gain extra 250 mil every now and then. So really, I'm just succeeding in both.

    Have been having a lot of fun in the Game Suggestions part of the game forums. Have suggested adding opportunity cost to the tech-tree (tech is likely to be overhauled, from the looks of it), exhaustible resources, and a new resource pair (micro-organisms and antibiotics).

    Have also suggested a new biological warfare game mechanic using those resources.

    There is one reason to build military. Your alliance. If we get in a war anytime soon (unlikely) you'll be expected to pull your own weight. For someone in no alliance they could play forever in peace mode with no consequences. Besides, who wants to play a game with no war. :awesome
    I do agree that at this point building a massive military is pointless. Also, can you give me a link to your bio-warfare thread. I'm too lazy to look it up myself.

    Don't know if game is bugged or someone is trolling, but there is a crapton of Natural Gas stacks of 1000 selling for 1 dollar each. I now have a stockpile of 150,000.

    Yeah and I have 3 of those as my resources. The only profitable resources seem to be four military ones. My Bauxite Ore is killing it, and those that can refine Steel must be rolling in the green.

    You got the bit where it's in alpha testing stage, right? Lots of it is still to be coded. Other bits have to be rewritten.

    That said, even when it's "finished" it's not going to be the type of game where you play for hours on end. The idea is that the game provides a medium through which you role play. Without involving yourself in the game community the game is just moving numbers around.
