Given that I've played DotA on and off since v5.32, and that HoN & LoL didn't it for me, I'm pretty pumped. Also, hesitant. It almost sounds too good.

Oh and in about two hours a DotA II tournament is starting. The top sixteen DotA teams (including the chinese powerhouses) are invited. Winners get $1,000,000. Wat.

Thoughts?

And the lag...ah, the lag.

 

It figures, a tournament with a million dollar prize on the line is losing players due to disconnections and lag, what a stellar start.

 

Yeah, because pre-beta versions of things are notable for being super stable and all that.

 

Hey man, hate the connection, not the game.

Though I do wonder why they didn't have the whole tournament on LAN instead. They could have saved themselves huge amounts of trouble if they did.

 

The entire tournament is being played on LAN. The problem with lag is consistently the connection from Gamescom.

 

Its more of a fake Lan. They have to play via some server even though they're right next to each other. It's like Starcraft II
