    I'm pretty sure.

That's really the only funny part in the entire fic. Ginny's just... plain crazy, really.

Oh, and Harry gets raped by Bellatrix... and he cries about it. :facepalm

I knew she was a cutter! How can you have all that emo angst and not want to slice something open? Of course, she was retarded and misunderstood exactly what she was supposed to be cutting.

It's like the whole Telephone/Fellytone thing. Arm/Uterus... I could see how a pureblood witch could confuse them.

The rest of it was wtf, but I died laughing at this. I'm picturing a Parvati who just can't get over how dumb her best friend is and spends most of her time bemused and quietly chuckling at Lav.

A minor peeve, though I don't know how common it is: authors who name stories the same (or close enough to the same) as more popular stories, possibly as a ploy to get more hits. A case in point (one that happens to have a deceptively similar summary as well):

    Dagger and Rose by Cyborgscouse
Post Ootp. Dumbledore doesn't ignore the prophecy and leave Harry's fate to chance, the Boy-Who-Lived is sent away to be trained so he'll stand a chance in this war, however how will the wizarding world and his friends cope without their Chosen One

LOL. I saw this and was like WTF? How dare you use the same title as the awesomeness that was Dagger and Rose, go and die in a hole. Not to mention the actual writing...

A personal pet peeve of mine is when authors use the houses to describe someone's personality. I just hate authors that describe a character's decision as Griffyndorish or Slytherin, I always hope that the characters have grown enough not to be defined by a thirty second conversation had with a talking hat when they were eleven.

    ...

What about when they use you're instead of your?

    What's your stance on that?

How does that make you feel?

    Hmm? :D

Psycho, not emo. That's the key.

Remember, kids: It's down the street, not across the fallopian tubes.

I could legitimately make a "womb with a view" joke here, but I'll pass.

Anyone audacious enough to do that for hits would probably just plagiarize the story (likely by flat out copying/pasting) and claim it was their own.

The sad truth is, there are a lot of people who will go to the dubious effort of writing a fanfic (and by "writing" I mean "regurgitating other writer's tired clichés and bad-the-first-time plots in a way that allows them to express their own not-so-inner pathetic wanker"), but copy another person's title because they are too brain dead to come up with their own. It's a related malady to the dreaded "I suck at summaries" syndrome.

If I had a dollar for every fanfic with a title that was a variation on "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" I'd be saving up for a new monitor. If I counted summaries that include it, I'd be saving up for a nice digital SLR...

And if I included summaries that self-confessedly "suck," I'd be in negotiations with JKR about purchasing this little empire of hers.

Seriously, for the vast majority of people out there, they can't even muster up enough creativity and originality to put a title on their work. Shit, they can't even summon the wherewithal to make sure their title is SPELLED correctly!

What about when they have a model number instead of a handle, vshl.prshd?

    :awesome

A good title and summary can get you far, and bad ones? The opposite.
For instance, even though I haven't yet read these stories, I absolutely love the titles "All my love to long ago" and "Freedom everburning".

Oh, and, this is strictly for the WbA section here at DLP. Whenever people post a new story, please have a story summary at the first post, at the beginning if possible or at the end if you don't want to spoil the story. It makes things much easier since everyone has a different preference for genre, characters, etc.

Just fyi, this is undergoing massive rewrite (everything but the basic premise is changing) so if you do decide to read it, don't expect an update to the old version.

It IS a lovely title that hinted at epicness. You got a problem with that? :p

I hate fics where they give Harry a hand gun. It is stupid for him to have one when a wand can accomplish the same and more in a similiar range. Not to mention it recoils and a wave of a wand can transfigure it into any number of things. If Harry does use a gun, it would be sniper rifle half a mile away, not a pistol at relatively close range.

I also hate when authors go on a small rant about about how useless the stunning charm is. Then later in the fic Harry has a one on one duel with someone and he hits them in the arm with a bone breaking curse, but they escape or still continue the duel. The same authors don't seem to realise if Harry had used the stunning charm the duel would be over.

So stun them than use bone breaking curse to blow their heads up? :awesome

    I would read that

Can't follow your logic here. Under realistic terms I would prefer to have both at hand especially because any gun is faster than the wand/spell/mind interface. There is also the surprise and mass kill factor. The problem with guns in the HP world is that it's rarely done tasteful where it doesn't kill the HP magic atmosphere as the ultimate problem solver. I liked its appliance in Bungle in the Jungle for example.

Can't say for sure. A silent protego will shield you faster.

...Not really. Drawing speed is the same, and the time to think/visualize Protego is probably higher than a trained shooter pulling the trigger.

If you think of a trained shooter, then newton law states that you need to think of a trained dueler.
