Well, many of these guesses were quite reasonable from what could be gathered from the books and knowledge of Rowling's way of thinking, so it's not surprising that they're spot on. Still, that also means that in the future many fanfiction cliches may turn out to be the canon.

"I assert our inalienable right to party."

If it's true that nobody ever entered other houses' common rooms/dormitories, it must be really damn annoying to date someone from another house.

I have two accounts that got in, but I've only just gotten sorted with my first. Got into Slytherin, although it was quite obvious that is what I would get based on the questions. Ollivander said my wand is 12.5 inches and Hard. Thanks.

Name is Bladescale140 if anyone wants to add me. Sesc hasn't invited me to the group yet.

The list of wand woods was very cool, and I enjoyed reading that. It's good supplemental material to use for throwaway lines and add some legitimacy to character development. And I do like how it acknowledges that other wand cores are recognized, but that the three we see just give more consistent, better results but it doesn't say other cores can't be better. I'm really impressed with that.

On the other hand, saying Merlin went to Hogwarts is dumb. Awful. Because now I'm going to get people leaving me reviews for my story going LOLOLOLO MERLIN ISN'T EVEN BORN IN YOUR STORY YET DUMBASS! UR RONG. IM CLOSING THE STORY BECAUSE OF THAT. Fuck you.

The staff would consider that a victory.

Wait, wait...Merlin went to Hogwarts? If she's sticking with the whole 'Hogwarts was founded a thousand years ago' thing, Merlin couldn't have gone to Hogwarts - that's like saying that Sir Francis Drake served in World War 1. :facepalm

Well, it's J.K. Rowling. By now we should come to expect this amount of effort in maintaining consistency from her.

Inconsistencies I can handle (eg, days being missing, 'extra' days etc), but fucking years?

Come on JKR, stop acting like Lavender Brown - you're not as thick as shit.

You're all assuming that Merlin attended Hogwarts as an 11yo child, when it's obvious that he was the creepy "adult student" that comes to campus, attends classes, and tries to fit in with all of the little girls and boys.

There's nothing like a 500 year old wizard going back to school, joining study groups and sleeping in the children's dormitories. Picture studious little Suzie on his knee. "You're holding your wand all kinds of wrong. Let grampa Merlin show how it's done. I once taught your mum this special craft; now wrap your wee fingers 'round the shaft."

    Definitely pedo-Merlin, the adult student.

Been keeping an eye on Pottermore...

And all I can say is "God, what a clusterfuck."

Milking it for all its worth, Rowling?

My assumption is that he, Merlin, did not in fact attend Hogwarts, and that's just some sneaky snake making shit up to bolster house morale - I mean, after all, otherwise your house is better know for spawning Voldemort.

Or do you suppose that Pierre Plantard was telling the truth in les Dossiers Secret, which contained a list of Grand Masters of the Priory of Sion that included:

    ...
Blanche d'Évreux (1366–1398) <== As a side note, wasn't this one of the Golden Girls?
    Nicolas Flamel (1398–1418)
    ...
    Léonard de Vinci (1510–1519)
    ...
    Robert Boyle (1654–1691)
    Isaac Newton (1691–1727)
    Charles Radclyffe (1727–1746)
    ...
    Victor Hugo (1844–1885)
    Claude Debussy (1885–1918)
    Jean Cocteau (1918–1963)

Obviously, none of these people were ever grand masters of the Priory of Sion (mainly because the PoS was made up in 1956), and I would also wager that Merlin wasn't a Slytherin, or even an alumnus of Hogwarts. I'd put more money on Merlin being the Founders' mentor than the above.

Naaaaah. He of course did it the Edward Cullen way. He didn't age or deaged himself, appeared as a teenager and sparkled a bit. And we all know Edward Cullen isn't a pedo, amirite?

Occam's Razor: Some douchebag named his kid "Merlin" and he went to Hogwarts.

Of course! Not THE Merlin- they meant Merlin Mulready, inventor of the Blood Quill. Also the spelling-correction charm, 'Correctemundo'.

Fuuuuuck. I got my email today. I haven't had my laptop since Friday, though, because I had the bright idea to leave it at a friend's while I roam the city. I want to be fucking sorted already. The next few days are going to be even harder than the past week was. D:

Excellent, another one complaining about getting their mail.

Though to be honest, if any god is listening... I'd really prefer getting the TOR beta come september rather than this cesspool of JK Rowling 'facts'.

Managed to get on a friend's laptop....my wand is redwood, phoenix feather, 14 1/2 inches, and unyielding.

My house, sadly, is the one I wanted the least....

Okay, so I'm back from a week long road trip. I got my email right before we left for Alabama (D: ) and managed to spend the three hours I had on the computer getting through the Sorting. I savored the experience.

The new material ranges from meh to interesting. The information on wand woods was brilliant, if incomplete, and I kind of hope that some more of that might be filled in in later material. I adored the character information on McGonagall and Quirrell, and the information on Vernon and Petunia was too funny for words. I'm mostly looking forward to possible info on the extraneous Hogwarts population if it ever gets elaborated on, and I live in hope of another quiz in later years on Patronuses if at all possible.

My wand is Hornbeam and Unicorn Hair, 10 3/4 inches, slightly springy. :D (I about died when I read the description of Hornbeam - hilariously accurate. Spending half an hour on that quiz staring at it completely paid off.)

Unfortunately, I didn't take screenshots, and I should have because I got a hatstall between Slytherin and Gryffindor. XD I picked Slytherin after a minor debate - new material, etc, etc.

Anyone else get a hatstall? I haven't seen any evidence of them on other forums so far.
