As a protoss player, I -love- these changes. I don't necessarily think that the 5 seconds on the barracks time is going to stick, but if it does that's awesome for me.

 

God, I hope it does. I'm so tired of two rax. The Hellion nerf is also great, after what I've been seeing lately. Poor Team Slayers is going to have to change everything they do.

Overseer change is lovely. Yay, affordable scouting!

I'm not sure why they changed the Ultralisk build time. I'm still not going to use the damn things.

 

HSM is basically going to rape. Do like the obvious post I read: Overseer, 50 gas 200HP scout. OP.

 

As a zerg, this is great - other than Infestor nerf. Which makes me sad.

 

Eh, maybe it'll make everyone else stop bitching about being forced to use Ghosts and HT.

 

I can't say what you should do as Terran, but it's not advised to wall off against any race other than zerg. Sitting back and getting seige up fast was the right call.

Here is a fun example of how to beat a cannon contain as zerg.

 

Scouting is essential. You don't see a gateway at his main at 2 min+ you know somethings fucked. Then you build a second rax at the ramp, and float your first rax into place to complete the wall. Macro up, a move, gg.

3 gate robo, 4 gates, or early stalker aggression can snipe your shit otherwise.

 

I haven't been playing much lately, and i'm not quite sure where I stand in the leagues. On Oceanic, I am in silver, and winning/loosing games at an equal rate. On NA servers I am platinum winning/loosing games similarly. I only play 2-3 games every few days however.

I wall in against protoss consistently. It's just a far more defensible setup. I wall in against terran for the same reason. There isn't a huge detriment to mobility, as I setup my main gathering of units etc outside of my natural. I don't really do 1 base all ins ever.

Against terran, walling in helps against blue flame hellion pushes, and generally makes it easier to hold off pressure at the beginning of the game.

My start against protoss is basically to go mass marauder and transition into ghosts + vikings. Concussive shell can help against zealots, but the wallin is just an amazing failsafe that's definitely saved me more than a few times.

The only issue I've had with wallin mobility is against Zerg with muralisk harass. ANd lets face it, wallin against zerg is basically a necessity.

Edit: Yeah Sree, wall ins can definitely help you get a better concave at the choke ,but it becomes a liability once they have colossus on the field. You are out of range of them, while they are in range of you. However, by the time they have colossi on the field, you should be well out of your main base anyway. With vikings.

 

Fortunetly I got high enough on ladder that I dont see proxy gates often. I wall off against all races, however when you wall off against protoss, you have to be aware of possibilty of void ray all ins.

You want to be aware of the timing of his second gas, if the gas doea not go down before the second unit is out, there will be no void rays.

Another clue you can use is scouting for the third pylon. Third pylon goes down before your scv can get chased away, therefore if its not in the guys base, he is either proxying it, saving minerals for gateways or nexus, or he is bad and will get supply blocked. For that reason, you should have an scv outside your base, if expo does not go down before 7th minute all in is a possibility.

If you cant defend your natural by the time collosus is out, you lose the game anyway, so your wall does not matter

I guess I should also mention that if its an early gas, dt is as likely as void ray.

I can't believe Idra lost that last game. Jesus. Really disappointed about that, I really wanted to see MVP vs Idra.

 

It shouldn't be all that surprising. He was a bit ahead with his production, but NesTea had Infestors. IdrA didn't.
