I've never found a decent H/HR story, just crappy ones. Is it any wonder that I'm sceptical?

Years of Rebellion, though its arguable if the H/OC romance is better.

The "better" ones often haven't aged that well, rather like many of the older greats. And then further ruined by the masses, much like what happens to any ship, but on a grander scale simple due to sheer volume.

That said, there's been the odd one in the almost recommended, or even the library.

At any rate, the sheer volume of shit can ruin a character/ship for people. Myself, I've been rather disenfranchised with Harry/SlytherinGirl lately.

I did like Years of Rebellion but I enjoyed the H/OC romance better then the H/HR romance. Plus it's unfinished which is a major pain in the arse.

Yeah, Years of Rebellion, although I have to agree the OC romance was better executed, Resistance by lorien, The Other Boy Who Lived is at least okay, Backwards Compatible, althought Ruskbyte should damn well stop writing everything else he does and update this, and Vox Corporis. All of those are pretty good.

If you are just looking for a laugh Harry Potter and the Sword of Gryffindor could be a guilty pleasure (erotic comedy). Be warned it isn't DLP quality, but I laughed at it.

Which remind me of one of my peeves. H/Hr/other. Because our other is just there because the author wanted to write a three-way and serves no actual purpose in the plot or relationship.

I...don't think I've actually seen a H/other girl x2 relationship that isn't all fluff or angst. (Character development).

A couple more you might read:

I did one once as a gift exchange for a Harmony fan. I don't think it completely sucks (though Portkey did boot my author application because Harry and Hermione didn't fuck).

I found Holding Court by Marshes to Banks to be excellent, though abandoned, unfortunately.

The only H+Hr+X stories that I've found readable are the Where in the World is Harry Potter series by nonjon and Draco664's MrFurious!Harry stories Apprentice/Journeyman/Master Potter.

@Jorg: Back to the Garden by Antosha is a well-written H/G/L fic, though it's been taken down from The Quidditch Pitch for some reason. It may still be up on other archives, though.

    It is.

I liked it, but YMMV definitely applies.

    Wasn't this in The Library/Recycling Bin/For Review?

Back to peeves, I hate it when a ship starts with Harry walking in and getting an eyeful of naked/half-naked girls. It feels cheap.

Hermione Granger and the Goblet of Fire
This one is alright, I think.

    I like it, except for
the talk of Emma Watson Potter
    before the ending. :facepalm

You can still find Back To The Garden on the Restricted Section site.

Which is sort of funny since the site is abandoned, but the story is finished.

For those who haven't been around long enough to remember, RS was apparently created to house NC-17 rated fic after FFN purged most of the stories with mature content from their site. This is the same purge that, for better or worse, saw the creation of AdultFanFiction.Net.

Currently my biggest problem is that lovely fanfic creation: Different types of Phoenix. Snow, Ice, Earth, Shadow, Dark, Empowered by Chuck Norris, White, Blue. It drives me nuts, especially when Harry for some reason has it as his one of a kind animagus form.

The sad part of me, is that I've seen every one of those except an Earth Phoenix. Every now and then I'll see an author genuinely make an effort to make it a different sort of mythological bird pertaining to the element they wanted to represent, only to ruin it by adding "colloquially known as a ____ Phoenix".
