As mentioned by someone in a For Review thread recently, For Review probably needs a rename and the little blurb rewritten. As it is currently:

    For Review
Place all new fics here for review by our members. Fics will be moved out after a reasonable number of positive reviews.

Makes it seem like For Review is just some dumping ground for any random shit, which the Library really isn't for.

IMO it should be renamed/reworded so that its more apparant that the Library (and subsequently For Review) is for the good stuff.

Pick a group of judges that'll do their job next time(and as a result, any who force a delay past the initial deadline get banned from being picked for a few months at the least)? Does anyone even care about the July submissions?

edit: Shit, even I can't pay attention to the month properly if I can't put in the right name.

This has probably been suggested, but ought to be pretty easy. Can we change WbA so that Authors can modify the posts in their thread regardless of how old they are?

We could need one or two new moderators for the library.

Since Tinn is quite busy for a while now, nobody clears out "For Review" anymore.

One idea: thread creators can decide whether or not users can edit their posts (and for how long), and whether thumbs can be used.

(Thinking mainly of the Death Eaters thread, but it could be extended to others).

Stickies need to be cleaned up. A lot could be merged, or linked to in one sticky compendium. D:

Maybe too social networky, but what about some kind of tagging system where you could type "@Username" in order to draw a certain person's attention to a thread, or let them know when they're being talked about. Could be implemented, by just receiving an automatic pm whenever you are tagged.

That would be subject to tons of abuse, since people could just tag Taure to be shits and he'd get flooded with PMs. Or people could tag mods and then they have even more of an inbox to dig through to get their jobs done.

There need's to be a 'new post' button. It's automatic on every thread that has posts you haven't read, and clicking it will bring you to the first post you haven't read. There's something like that already on this site I think, but it only works like 25% of the time. And it is quite annoying having to scroll through 100 posts on a page to find the first new one. The website www.twoplustwo.com has a nice version of it. It probably works on cookies and you need to be logged in of course.

We have that button for years. Posts older than 2 weeks are automatically declared read for obvious reasons.

    I'm not talking about https://forums.darklordpotter.net/search.php?do=getnew
I'm talking about an individual button for each thread that just takes you to the last post you've read, so if your reading Santi's thread from the beginning for example, get half way through and go to another thread, you can just click this button and it will take you to the last post you read, which won't really be a new post, but rather simply a post that hasn't been read yet.

We have that. It's the small, downward facing, black arrow before each thread title. It always works for me.

Oh... I get what you're saying. I think. You want something for "unread posts", not "new posts". So DLP should monitor which posts you've read as you're scrolling through them, rather than the current method which assumes that you've read every post in a thread whenever you last clicked on it. When you click the "unread posts" button, it'd take you to the first post that you hadn't read rather than the first new post made after you last read a thread. Is that right?

Doesn't every browser have tabbed browsing now? You could just leave a thread open in a tab when you go to do something else. Or do mobile devices not have that?

I'm no computer programmer or code-writer or whatever the hell it's called, so take this with a grain of salt. Nevertheless...

I think that what you're asking would require too much of the page you're reading, for it to know exactly which post you're on or have scrolled to. The way it works now, at least for me, is that when I click the "go to first unread post" button (which needs to be added to the iPhone version of the site, as I've said in this thread already), it takes me to - wait for it - the first post in that thread since I last visited or read the whole thread.

What it also does is display all the subsequent posts currently in the thread, up to the end of that page. For me, that's some multiple of twenty posts, though I've heard Oz say he has it display forty posts per page. I keep mine at twenty, because there's a good chance I'll get pulled away to do actual work before I have time to read forty posts.

So, if you close the tab or the browser, the site just assumes you've completed that page, or all the thread's posts, whichever is less, and if you come back to "new posts," that thread will now be gone from the list, unless there was a whole new page after the one you were on. Then if you click "go to first unread" you'll go to the top of the new page.

I admit it's not perfect, but unless it's not much to add the code for keeping track of what post you're on, I'd say it's fine as-is. In fact, the great thing about the current system is that when there's a thread in the "new posts" that I have no interest in - say, anything anime or pokemon or other fandoms - I can just middle-click the "last page" for that thread, have it open in another tab, and then close that tab. DLP then thinks I've caught up on that thread, so the next time I hit "new posts" it's gone, until there's a new post in whatever thread it was/is.

And of course, you can always click on "Quick Links" --> "Today's Posts" to see all the threads updated in the last twenty-four hours (I think that's the time frame, anyway).

Oh, and there's also the "open that thread in a new tab" option mentioned above, though that doesn't much help if you have to leave that computer or if you happen to lose power of something.

    White People Problems, amirite?

Goes up to 100 posts per page (although I've dropped it back down to 50, been reading WbA on my PSP a lot at night again lately).

Google Reader has a feature like the one you guys are talking about, however I have no idea if it'd be possible to implement it in vBulletin.

I know it is, because one of the other forums I visit has the feature and it is vBulletin.

It would be nice if the picture uploader allowed you to upload more than 3 pics at a time.

Let me just say that these are all great suggestions, I especially like the "navigate to newest unread in thread."

I'm compiling a list of these issues which I find to be technically feasible in my free time so they can be publicly voted upon and commented upon. While it won't be a totally democratic process, I'd like to at least have your priorities.
