A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

    STAR WARS
    A Galactic Empire Mafia variant...

    Pre-Episode IV

It is a time of civil unrest. The Emperor has only recently wrested control of the capital Coruscant, as the remnants of the Jedi Order flee to safety. Although the newly christened Galactic Empire has secured the Core solar systems, pockets of Jedi-oriented resistance have begun to rebel against the Emperor from the Outer Rim Territories.

One of these territories is the desert world of Tatooine. Influenced by the Hutt criminal enterprise, the planet is the home to unbridled treachery and thievery. As the Empire's forces struggle to contain this lascivious villainy, rumors have begun to whisper in Tatooine's dusty streets. Many believe that the Rebel Alliance seeks to exploit the chaos in Tatooine to establish a firmer presence in the Outer Worlds.

Responding to this perceived threat, the Empire has temporarily ordered a quarantine of Tatooine's main starport, Mos Eisley. The planet's own citizens are expected to excise the threat by themselves, until the Emperor can take his attention away from his mysterious private project on Geonosis. Meanwhile, the Jedi presence on Tatooine bides its time....

    Roles drawn:

    10 Civilians
    3 Stormtroopers
    1 Human Replica Droid
    1 Emperor's Hand
    1 Emperor's Adept
1 Probe Droid (via a Mechanic)
    1 Imperial Governor
1 Astromech Droid (via a Pilot)
    2 Rebels
    1 Jedi Master
    1 Jedi Knight
    1 Twi'lek Slave-girl or Falleen Slave-boy
    1 Galactic Senator

    Overview:
STAR WARS is a Mafia variant (Flash Tutorial on Game Play: "Mafia"). You would be most familiar with Death Eaters by Merrill II, whose game is the progenitor of this STAR WARS variant. STAR WARS will be played between two teams: the uninformed majority and the informed minority. At the beginning of the game, each player is told their role by the Game Host.

The Citizens of the Empire are told they are a part of the Galactic Empire and their role. They do not know who are the other citizens loyal to Empire (unless otherwise stated) and are only aware of their own role. To win, the Rebel Alliance must be completely killed. During the day phase, all players (Rebels included) can vote on a single individual to be executed at Mos Eisley's firing range and removed from play.

The Alliance Rebels are told their role in addition to the roles of all other Rebels. They must work together to carefully get rid of the Empire's citizens until they are the majority group within Mos Eisley (and voting during the day phase is made irrelevant). During the night phase of the game, they can work together to kill a citizen.

    Night and Day Phase:
The game will begin during day. During day phases, the citizens will be able to use the thread to communicate and discuss who among them is guilty and should be executed. At any time a citizen may submit a single vote to have another citizen executed. When a person in Mos Eisley receives a simple majority of votes at any point in time, they are removed from play and their role is revealed. Players may rescind their vote at any time (when a majority has not been reached) and cast it for someone else (so long as it is day phase). They cannot rescind their vote after a majority is reached against one player. If a majority of votes is not reached against one player by the end of the day phase, no one is executed.

During the night phase, discussion in the thread is prohibited. Rebels can collude via PMs and can PM the Game Host the individual they want to kill. Roles (such as Healer, Investigator or Role-Blocker) may additionally be used during this time.

At the beginning of the next day phase, if a person was killed, their name and role is identified by the Game Host and the process starts anew.

    Possible Roles*

    CITIZENS OF THE GALACTIC EMPIRE:

    Civilian:
Role is similar to Townie or Villager in normal games of Mafia. Civilians have no special abilities. They can vote during the day on who shall be lynched and executed at the firing range.
    Abilities
    None

    Stormtroopers:
Role is similar to Mason in normal games of Mafia. As the elite, clone soldiers of the Galactic Empire, the Stormtroopers are bound by their military platoons and thus possess the ability to communicate with other Stormtroopers. Hence, the Stormtroopers are aware of at least one other confirmed pro-Empire citizen.
    Abilities
    - Communication with other Stormtroopers via PMs

    Human Replica Droid:
Role is similar to Virgin in normal games of Mafia. Created to mimic the physical appearance of a human, the Human Replica Droid (HRD) is a prototype robot designed for the purpose of subterfuge and destruction. The HRD's death, through lynch and State-sanctioned execution, will trigger a self-destruct code which would cripple Rebel activity. Consequently, the Rebels would need to waste a night-phase to recover and re-coordinate. Unlike the other roles, the HRD cannot be role-blocked.
    Abilities
    - If lynched, no one in the town can be night-killed for the following night.

    Emperor's Hand:
Role is similar to Doctor in normal games of Mafia. An Emperor's Hand is a Force-sensitive individual trained by the Empire in the ways of the Dark Side. Consequently, Emperor's Hands have the unique, Force-oriented ability to target one individual for "protection" during the night phase of the game. Individuals who are being protected by a Hand cannot be killed. Emperor's Hands can however be role-blocked, thus nullifying their activities for the evening. Hands additionally cannot target themselves for protection.
    Abilities
    - Can target one individual each evening, making them invulnerable

    Emperor's Adept:
Role is similar to Nurse or Back-Up Doctor in normal games of Mafia. Adepts are Force-sensitive individuals who are currently training to become Emperor's Hands. Because of their Dark potential, Adepts will be able to assume a Hand's abilities upon the death of an Emperor's Hand.
    Abilities
    - Assumes the abilities of the Emperor's Hand upon the Hand's death

    Probe Droid (via a Mechanic):
Role is similar to Cop or Investigator in normal games of Mafia. Probe Droids are machines that are specifically designed and programmed to perform reconnaissance duties. Consequently, these Probe Droids possess the power to investigate any of the players. During night phases, the Probes' Mechanic can target a single individual to find out whether that person is guilty or not guilty. The Mechanic can be role-blocked, making the Probe's investigative ability useless for the evening.
    Abilities
    - Can investigate one person each evening to see if he or she is a Rebel

    Imperial Governor:
Role is similar to Governor in normal games of Mafia. Imperial Governors are Empire-aligned politicians who have received the Emperor's blessing. Because of their high position within the imperial hierarchy, Governors can prevent lynches from occurring. After a lynch has begun, the Governor is given a brief opportunity secretly tell the Moderator to stop the lynch. If the Governor's power is exercised, the lynch is declared as "failed" and the night-phase proceeds as normal. The governor may not stop his/her own lynch, and cannot stop the same person from being lynched twice. The Governor can also be role-blocked and can only use their powers two times in the game.
    Abilities
    - Can choose to stop lynches through a PM to the Moderator (limited to two shots).
-The Governor will have until two hours from the reaching of a majority consensus to use their ability, or else the lynched victim will be executed and the victim's role revealed.
    - If targeted by a role-blocker, cannot use any Abilities during the following day

    Astromech Droid (via a Pilot):
Role is similar to Bus Driver or Driver in normal games of Mafia. Astromech droids are machines which perform repair duties and often serving as navigational adjuncts on smaller starships. Consequently, these Astromech Droids possess the power to sabotage electrical equipment on starships, affecting interstellar communications. During night phases, the Astromech' Pilot can target two people at night. Because of the Astromech's electrical interference, any actions done on those two people at night will be swapped. For example, if Player A and Player B are chosen, and the Probe investigated Player A, the Probe will instead receive a report on Player B. The Pilot can be role-blocked, making the Astromech's ability to cause interference useless for the evening.
    Abilities
    - Can cause any actions performed on any two people to become swapped at night

    THE REBEL ALLIANCE:

    Rebels:
Role is similar to Mafioso in normal games of Mafia. The Rebels' primary goal is to overthrow the current Imperial regime and restore the old Republic. They can communicate with other Rebels and are able to vote on a single person to decommission each night.
    Abilities
    - Communication with other Rebels via PMs
    - Can vote to target a person to be killed during night phase

    Jedi Master:
Role is similar to Godfather in normal games of Mafia. Powerful in the way of the Light, the Jedi Master is the strongest Rebel role. If targeted for investigation during the night, the Jedi Master will appear to be a Civilian. If consensus on who to kill cannot be reached by the other Rebels, the Jedi Master can step in at the last moment (see rules) to determine a target.
    Abilities
    - Communication with other Rebels via PMs
    - Will appear as Civilian when investigated by Probe
    - Cannot be killed in the night
    - Can vote to target a person to be killed during night phase
    - Can determine which person to target for kill if no consensus reached

    Jedi Knight:
Role is similar to Godfather Junior or Mafia Heir in normal games of Mafia. The Jedi Knight is a Light-oriented warrior who has been the Jedi Master's pupil in the Force. Consequently, the Jedi Knight can mimic his/her Master's ability and appear to be a Civilian, if targeted for investigation during the night. However, the Jedi Knight isn't completely skilled in these Cloaking powers, and will appear as a Rebel in subsequent investigations.
    Abilities
    - Communication with other Rebels via PMs
    - Will appear as Civilian when investigated by Probe for the first time. Subsequent investigations on the Jedi Knight will be successful, though
    - Can vote to target a person to be killed during night phase

    Twi'lek Slave-girl or Falleen Slave-boy:
Role is similar to Consort in normal games of Mafia. Heralding from extremely attractive races, the Slave-girl or Slave-boy is a beautiful individual who lures and mesmerises others. As such, the Slave-girl and Slave-boy operate for the Rebel Alliance as role-blockers. They can target one individual each night and use their sensuous appeal to prevent the target from using any abilities. Additionally, the Slave-girl or Slave-boy can communicate with other Rebels and vote on a single person each evening to be disposed of.
    Abilities
    - Communication with other Rebels via PMs
    - Can target one individual each evening, preventing them from using any of their abilities
    - Can vote to target a person to be killed during night phase

    Galactic Senator:
Role is similar to Janitor in normal games of Mafia. Galactic Senators are cerebral politicians such as the esteemed Princess Leia and Mon Mothma. Using their high positions within the Empire, Galactic Senators will surreptitiously arrange for the destruction of incriminating evidence. More specifically, Senators can choose one person at night and if that person dies, only the Senator will know the victim's role. The town would be simply informed that the body has been "cleaned up". The Senator can only use this ability to "clean up" two times.

    Abilities
    - Communication with other Rebels via PMs
    - Can prevent the town from learning the role of one victim upon the victim's night-time death (limited to two shots)
    - Can vote to target a person to be killed during night phase

Certain roles may not have been drawn for a particular game. Slots are randomly drawn and players are randomly assigned a role via the use of a generator designed for Mafia games (link: here).

    General Information/Rules for TL;DR
    - During the day, everyone can post whatever accusations they like.
    - During the night, posts are prohibited (thread will likely be locked).
    - Players who cheat or violate rules will be killed and removed from play (their roles revealed).
    - Voting during the day is done as follows: Vote Player: [Player Name] without brackets. Must be in bold. Must be in this thread. It is a public vote. I will update with a tally whenever possible
    - To rescind a vote, write Rescind Vote and then start the process anew.
-The Priority of Night Actions is as follows:

+Human Replica Droid's Freeze Effect (from lynch)
+Night discussion (Rebel and Stormtrooper discussions)
    +Astromech Switches targeting self
    +Slave's Roleblock
    +Astromech Switches (not targeting self)
+Night-Kill Attempts (Rebels' kills, Astromech-redirected kills)
    +Emperor's Hand (Saving One Night-Kill)
    +Probe's Report
    (source: this)

Everyone, I'm pretty terrified about what's going on. I've been hearing whispers in the cantina of Rebels. if this scourge has made it this far out from the Core, it must have some power. We should discern who these monsters are and blow them away into smithereens.
May the Emperor have no mercy on the Rebellion.

EDIT: Ninja'd by SmileOfTheKill, and now I wasn't the first!

I guess there were worse reasons to lynch someone in the last two threads.

Since this is the first day, it's going to be hard to sniff out an Alliance Rebel (unless you post like Taure).

We almost lynched Ashaya only for being the first poster, so there's not much we can do right now.

arguably then, lynching the first poster is a proven strategy.

Ashaya = DE, Taure = DE. In our non-insignificant sample size, it has a success rate of 100%.

/sarcasm, for those who couldn't tell. ps: come on irc vira

Ashaya should have been lynched. Then the villagers would have won. LOL.

I say we lynch first poster.

There's a pretty damn good chance that it's freaking setup from the rebels - some reverse psychology bullshit...

You know Lungs, why are you so eager to lynch the first poster before most of the player have yet to post?

This makes you seem very suspicious to me.

I say we make it even simpler than that, anyone who roleplays obnoxiously gets lynched.

While the first posters all have been scum, I think we should hold off a bit before lynching someone. Only, like, ten people have posted so far.

lulz. Remember the last two games?

I'm pretty sure you followed them too.

We have to excise this threat - with each person lynched, we'll get more clues about who's a rebel. According to the people (who weren't death eaters) in the other two mafia threads, lynching is something that we have to do. :X

Lynching is necessary for the Empire to crush the Rebels, that is true. However, lynching without proper reasoning will result in all kinds of failure. Stuff like forcing Power-Roles to reveal to prevent themselves getting lynched (but then they're fucked anyway on some level, just a little less fucked than if they were lynched).

Lynching is good. But don't feel you have to lynch just because 'lynching is good'. In that case, lynching is probably bad.

Fucking quiet, everyone. We're all equal citizens under the rule of our new Emperor, even if we're in the Outer Rim.

The Rebel scum are muckraking already. Let's man the fuck up and get rid of the slimy bastards.

    /pretentious RP end

But yeah. Let's not jump to hasty conclusions just yet. We have a day- let's think it through.

It's 2:30AM, so I'm going to bed, and I'll be out for at least the next 12 hours meeting friends.

Let's see how we do against the damn Rebels, shall we?
