DLP is the sole forum I frequent. It is the people I know on IRC. It's the only place that makes me laugh consistently.

 

Hell, I don't post much, and hardly ever visit IRC, but I've probably read at least 90% of the threads created here. If I'm online, I'm on DLP.

I just don't post if I don't have something productive to say, usually.

Honestly, many, many names become recognizable to the point where I would list them in this thread. Sure, the people that post the most are usually the most memorable, they're hardly the only people that contribute to the site.

 

And that is what I like to hear. <3

Yeah only three names.

Midknight- To be honest, I am stretching to include the other two because Midknight was and will always be DLP to me. His take down of HBP is the primer for everything DLP has felt about canon for the last six years and feartheturtle's sock puppet thread of fail about said take down was my introduction to the climate of this forum. Lastly, for the first several years that I have been here, more than any other mod at the time, Midknight was THE LAW, and if you did not shape up he was the one to ship you out.

Giovanni- best example of the type of debaters you can expect here.

Vash- best poster to represent the sick and perverse part of DLP.

Every other member of DLP fit into two catgories in my mind, Came Laters and There Toos.

I have always been happy to be a There Too or a Came Later.

 

Why does this sound dirty to me?

 

Because it has member and came in the same sentence, because I was too lazy to word it better, or because if it didn't you wouldn't belong here.

Also, if I wasn't too lazy to come up with a fourth option I'd be able to make a multiple choice joke, ideally one that contained some more innuendo. :facepalm

 

This thread, this is DLP to me.

Partly sentimental stuff degenerating into "Does innuendo exist here?" and "I'm too lazy to make more innuendo."

I love it.

I can attest to this. If HoS was a successful case, I'm a failed one. I was booted off 'cause I whined every time someone made a slight against me and complained that nobody liked me (back then I thought the internet was Serious Business). Eventually, I guess it pissed Xiph off enough to ban me permanently.

This is also a good example of how central IRC is to DLP. I gained most of my infamy from the stupid shit I pulled on IRC; if I'd never gone on there, I doubt anyone on the site would know my name at all. Just goes to show that, even if the forums don't really impact IRC, the reverse is far from true (thank you Epic IRC Moments thread).

 

I'm pretty new here as a member, I've used the Library to find fics for the last three years now though. I've enjoyed DLP immensely so far and plan to continue being active in the forum and IRC. I like all but one of the people I've dealt with here even the ones who insult me, it's only the internet and a very lulzy internets is DLP.

 

Only people who have significantly influenced DLP in any way, shape or form:

Zevrillion. Created the site.
Raven. Built the site.
Midknight. He and his followers set the tone for the site.
Xiph0. Ran in Midknight's circle, refined the tone.
Sree. Looking back at some of the posts from early on, probably one of only five people who could create a post without a smilie or grammatical error in it. I'm going to assume he invented intelligence on DLP.
Vash. Predominantly defines the sick and perverse shtick.
Merrill. Predominantly defines the troll; responsible for the biggest shitfests to have engulfed this site (and have subsequently altered its landscape). Why I am not on more lists boggles the mind. People must be (read: are) retarded.
Perspicacity. Just kidding. Swap him with Tehan's posts and all you lose is integrity.
