The Tintin thread, and now this. I'm on a movie roll. =P

    Teaser Trailer
    Longer Trailer

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Directed by Guy Ritchie and the sequel to the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes. It'll be released in December of this year. Certainly worth a look, if anything because of Noomi Rapace and Stephen Fry. =D

    Your thoughts and expectations?

This. Had one since I've seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Add the director of Snatch and this movie is bound to be brilliant. Sadly the first movie was kind of underappreciated, despite its good ratings.

    Plus, Rachel McAdams is hot.

I'm a huge fan of the Holmes books and stories and I really appreciated how everything ended up being scientific in the last one. I have high hopes for the second movie.

Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss did a modern update for the BBC last year. It was pretty fucking awesome, and the second series is due soon-ish (although apparently not soon enough >_<)

Oh, yes. Luther, played by my biggest man crush of all time, Idris Elba, is fantastic.

That scene where the thing happened at the end of S2. Oh yes, oh yes.

Do we have a Luther thread?

Looking forward to both this and the next series of Sherlock, of course. Especially looking forward to this film because of Jared Motherfucking Harris, who's a boss and will be a great Moriarty.

Sadly, from the trailers it appears McAdams role has been reduced. I don't know how closely any of this will follow the books and I haven't read the books in a while to be sure anyways, but I do hope we don't change love interest. That would ruin it for me.

I liked the first movie - and thus every trailer I've seen for this one has pissed me off, because this looks overpoweringly stupid. The mystery still looks like it's mired in some Dan Brown schlock, Rachel McAdams seems totally absent, and I still hold that Moriarty has been miscast.

Overall, not looking forward to this movie.

Because she has only a cameo in this one. And I find their choice of actor for Moriarty rather disappointing. Especially considering rumored possibilities - like Brad Pitt (I'd love to watch him go against Robert) or Daniel Day Lewis (if only to see what crazy stuff he would do to prepare himself for this role, maybe he would really become a criminal mastermind for a few months?).

.... In an alternate universe somewhere, this happened. And you know what? I'm going to find that universe.
