That's it, I have to watch this show now, I've been hearing about it but this thread has convinced me to jump in.

Also Lucy Lawless topless many have had something to do with it as well ...

Every time I watch this i get pumped. Watching Spartacus tear through a bunch of Roman soldiers with a toy sword makes me happy.

lol. Do you also like the cocks, arses and general naked men displayed too?
It could do without all of that, but I'm guessing most of their audience is women. The graphics could use some work, but the violence and action in general was good. Up to episode 7, how are they going to make for season 1?

    Spartacus: Gods of the Arena
Spartacus - Gods of the Arena - Trailer
    January 21, 2011

The House of Batiatus is on the rise, basking in the glow of its infamous champion Gannicus, whose skill with a sword is matched only by his thirst for wine and women. These are the times a young Batiatus has been waiting for. Poised to overthrow his father and take control, he’ll freely betray anyone to ensure his gladiators are in the highest demand. And he’ll have his loyal and calculating wife Lucretia by his side for every underhanded scheme, drawing on the brazen talents of her seductive friend Gaia when it counts. Together, they will stop at nothing to deceive the masses, seize power, and bleed Capua dry in this audacious prequel to “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.”

Will watch it, but if there isn't a character that's there to route for, I dunno how long I'll be interested for.

Andy Whitfield the acter that played Spartacus in season 1 died of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on September 11, 2011.

Liam McIntyre replaced Whitfield after his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma returned.

God damn it. That's depressing. I knew he was being replaced, but I was hoping Whitfield just needed time to recover.

I used Netflix to watch Spartacus. New episodes were up within a day most times.

Watched both series, fucking loved them. Didn't think I would, but I did. Fantastic. I watched Gods of the Arena first as well, so it was chronological (somewhat), bar knowing of two character deaths in advance.

But it was seriously good fun and I'd watch it again. Looking forward to their next venture.

Not sure if you guys are interested, but Vengeance trailer has been up for a while:

It looks set to be amazing, though I am withholding judgment about the new actor until I watch it.

Meh, I'm not that as enthusiastic about this season as I thought I would be.

John Hannah and to a lesser extent, Lucy Lawless, were the only things that stopped this movie from being a generic 300 clone and with them and their antics gone I'm not quite sure where the show will go.

One things for certain, they have to focus on the Romans like before because Spartacus and the other slaves never really pulled the show for me. Especially Spartacus, he was more of a tool in Batiatus' hands used to drive the plot than an actual protagonist. Hell, I would have said that Batiatus was the protagonist really.

I'll watch it but hopefully we get more of the same "Romans being pricks" formula an not have it be more action-oriented, which got old for me.
